What is your top 3 fav final fantasy games
Tactics, IX, and Type-0.
8-9-10
Of course FFxi is my Favourite Ever game For MMORPG 9 > 10 > 12 (for the fun hunts, not so much the story)
I - IV - VI
I'm old. Didn't care for VII and XIII sucks ***, so get off my lawn. *shakes cane, dentures fall out* Edit: XI at least gets an honorable mention since I poured 5 continuous years into it, thousands more hours than I played any other FF. IX, XII and
V, VIII, and hmmm.... IX
V, VI, VIII.
VI -> IV -> XIII-2
Yeah yeah, move along. After thinking it over.
I choose 7, 5, and 6 FFX > FFTA > FFVI
With FFVII, FFTA2, FFX-2 (If only it wasnt for the horrible story) and FFXII coming close. Im not going to say FFXI, because MMOs tend to suck you in (And really, it's not even a decent mmo. Just something about it that's addictive). Odin.Eikechi said: » Ragnarok.Kongming said: » What I can't even stand to play: X-2, 13, 13-2, 14, and anything else they release before bankruptcy Did you actually try any of those? Or rather, what is your major beef with those titles? When the first direct sequel, FFX-2, came out, it didn't bother me so much because I didn't like the original. FFX did away with world maps, in what they called a "seamless world", but what actually happened was a streamlining of the story such that events carried you from one plot point to another without having to walk there, without having to explore, without having a single option. It certainly looked pretty, but underneath its style was blindingly substance-free linearity. It wasn't completely irredeemable, but when I look back and try to identify the exact point when things started to go wrong, it is among 3 titles of which I have heavy suspicion. Since a direct sequel was up until then unheard of (some would say sacrilegious), I first thought it was a joke. Perhaps a work-in-progress title. I settled with seeing it as some quirky offshoot mini-game that was big enough to warrant its own release, and I dismissed it all the same after watching the intro video. And playing it for 3 hours. 3 long *** hours. Whatever. I just hoped it was the last I'd ever see of this blasphemy. But then came Before Crisis and Advent Children. Now, I've historically trashed FF7 quite often, but it's only because I find it hugely overrated. As opposed to FFX, it's a game that I actually like, an awful lot. So prequels and sequels, should only add to the enjoyment right? No. Just no. Categorically no. There are so few sequels (and prequels..) in the history of entertainment that have achieved anything more than disappointment, and that achievement is almost uniformly "huge disappointment." I know there are exceptions, and I'm not about to sit here and argue about those; this will already be tl;dr without it. To call Advent Children a disappointment is missing the point. FF7 when it was finished was a complete story, much like A New Hope was. What happened before and after was up to the viewer to decide, and like most good stories, FF7 had plenty of room for interpretation (A New Hope, not so much). My interpretation of the ending isn't that rare (or at least wasn't for it's time): Holy and the lifestream saved the planet from meteor, but it also saved the planet from people. That's why 500 years later we see Red XIII looking on a Midgard that hasn't been rebuilt, and not a sign of mankind left remaining. Misanthropic, perhaps. I thought it was more of a bittersweet. So AC ***on that. Bummer. It wasn't even a good movie. It looked nice, but I mean come on. I really despise historical revisionism (I also used to be a Star Wars fan, if you caught that vibe), especially when its sole purpose is to milk a franchise for all it's worth. It forces me to accept (or buy into) a new canon, even if that canon adds nothing of value except fan service and tarnishes the original. AC does nothing more than stand as a monument for the company's steady decline into style over substance. (let's call this SOS to save room and sanity) And then like 10 years passed. I dunno, FF11 or something. It's kind of a blur. FF12 was in there somewhere, as FF11-offline, and it at least wasn't as bad as X if only for the fact that the characters weren't designed by Tetsuya Nomura. This hack who calls himself an artist follows in the SOS tradition by only being able to make characters with 2 distinguishable qualities: hair and clothing that strain credulity. Please tell me I need not examples. So when my first glimpse of FFXIII was motorbike Shiva and scissorgunsword, I tuned out. I didn't want to know. I couldn't force myself to want to know. And then the reviews came out, which described a game as or perhaps more linear than FFX on "graphical crack". Well, at least it looks great, right? As great as the world's largest ocean liner going full speed into an iceberg. SOS. Discussion about 14 is unwarranted as I believe we have near unanimity there. 13-2 I honestly haven't looked into. I don't care anymore. I've wiped my hands, I've salvaged what good memories there were to be had, and I'm moving on. tl;dr: George Lucas is an ***. In no particular order.
VII, X, XI. VI being a runner up. Theres too many to just pick 3.
V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, CC. Those are the most memorable out of the series. Nah, being "most memorable" is really subjective. Also, you listed almost half the series, lol.
I still play FF1 here and there, 20 years after I first bought it, albeit usually in ROM form. If I had to order it...
VI, VII, IV, XI, IX, X, XIII-2, V, X-2, XII, III, XIII, I, II I feel maybe I'm being hard on II but I could never get into it, the method of stat improving was incredibly anal and practically encouraged grind, I am aware of the leveling trick and if I feel like wasting time maybe I'll go back and beat II someday. I also didn't include Tactics as I never completed it but where I was in the story it was a very good game and also didn't include Crisis Core which I also thought was great but the important plot points there had already been established in VII. So if we're going on a top 3 according to that mine would be VI, VII, IV and they are certainly the most memorable stories for me. Ramuh.Rowland said: » Chrono Trigger, ff6, and ff4. Yea, I just went there. I accidentally the whole thing. love dem sprites man, I forgot about chrono trigger! I never played Chrono Trigger, people spoke highly of it so I was kind of hoping it was on PSN, it wasn't.
7
4 9 I cannot fathom how 8 makes its way into peoples lists... I must admit I enjoyed the battle music of 10 more than any other. Ragnarok.Nausi said: » 7 4 9 I cannot fathom how 8 makes its way into peoples lists... The story is ok but starts getting a bit silly after the end of disc one, hence where this 'Squall died' theory originated, the draw system was pointless, did anyone actually use magic in that game? Squall in general is quite an unlikable character but in a sense I would think is someone so many FF fans would admire just because he's the introverted loner they all are but he comes across as cool, gets the girl and saves the world. Yes I just had a paragraph insulting the game but I still enjoyed it but it is certainly my least favourite of the post-nintendo and pre-squenix era of final fantasy. The correct answer, is Xenogears.

I'm not saying it won't happen, it's just really unlikely. Sometimes it's just best to write things up as a loss. I for one wish I got into pokemon way back when. I didn't, and now I think it's lame, and now other people think I'm lame for thinking it's lame. They also think I have no soul (I'm not ginger) I never played CT when I was younger but I did play CC and I loved it so much. :x I'm tempted to buy CT now but I'm unsure if I'll like it.
