Best Relic To Make --

I'm more so saying it as coming into a relic thread advocating Empyrean weapons as though it's an innovative suggestion that was determined on a whim of ingenuity is pretty inane.

Make that two. Gjallarhorns are for mules, Mandau is attached to terrible jobs, and Aegis is situational to the point of irrelevancy(and requires two additional Empyrean paths to be useful).

Spharai is good, but.. Eh. Unless you've got money falling on you, I'd probably just stick with Verethragna.

I particularly love the cop-out answer "do whatever makes you happy for whatever job is your favorite". Hell, if he wanted that he wouldn't make a thread asking what relic to make. Take that crap back to your little brother's soccer game where they don't keep score and everyone gets a trophy.

And to those of you suggesting relics for jobs he doesn't mention....why? Trolling? Either: 1. get laid, 2. realize no one really thinks its that funny, 3. take the garbage out and buy more hot pockets, and 4. get laid. End of rant on trolling.

If we're talking about overall "best relic", dear lord we've had this discussion back when it mattered, when it actually cost hundreds of millions to make a relic, when shells were built to make ONE relic, and most would never even consider a relic, and almost no one could even fathom having two. Let's not bother discussing which one is best when anyone who is legitimately making one could make 3-5 in a year if they want.

I have a hard time actually coming up with situations for it where another job, or a PLD if you really want one, can't already handle it. AV without PD? idk.

But yeah. Only relics that are really worth it are Apocalypse, Ragnarok, and Annihilator. Amanomurakumo could have a case made for it as well. I'd always suggest Gjallarhorn for a serious BRD, but it is far from critical to you as it does very little to enhance the power of your songs outside of what is already possible. It's an inventory saver first and foremost.

The rest are trifles that are either so close to their Empyrean counterparts that they're meaningless timesinks, or they're absolutely worthless. Feel free to build whatever, but realize that you're paying for a trophy that you're hurting your performance with, not something that'll make you the best that no one ever was.

We have this person on Phoenix that swears bodies are guaranteed drop with a thief :o ...but everytime I went with him and he brought a thf I didn't get anything.

Mandau is a great weapon, but it's really only for a THF main. I've narrowed down my mains to two, WAR and THF. Anymore would be a little overwhelming for me. I still gear my other jobs, but they're by no means pivotal. I love my Mandau, but my WAR still sees more action. My personal plan is to 99 my Ukon, and then build a Ragnarok if the upcoming WS changes don't decimate it or make Bravura a stronger weapon.

I for one am building knuckles and have nothing but empys due to im a broke *** lol.

but that aside id go for rag, and lvl drk. You would get alot of use out of it, and you can claim it was for drk to begin with since its the best weapon for drk.

Rag is usable by WAR AND DRK thus the lvl drk part. Only say lvl it so you got more use for it. If ya got a relic thats good or decent for multiple jobs, after 100+m gilz, id get all the use i could out of it.

Why is it inane? Time and effort are universal currency equally applicable to both relics and empyreans, and the most useful abstraction for those that we have in the game is gil.

Relics and Empyreans may not be mutually exclusive, but time spent on making them certainly is. Looking at your account, I would not expect you to understand or value that perspective, but that's no reason for me to think the OP wouldn't.

So, let me ask you. Assuming the OP plays all his listed jobs with some regularity, what would be more useful to him in the long run: 85 empyreans for all listed jobs (and a 99 OAT for DRG) or one 95 relic on a job of his choice?

I'm not being facetious here. I think it's an open question, and people could make arguments for both. But if the OP seriously can't decide which to make on his own, he's clearly not wedded to one of those particular jobs enough to justify robbing a couple different Peters to pay Paul.

An Ukonvasura would literally need to be asleep at the wheel to get outperformed by a Mandau. Thief is godawful. I, more than most, understand that different players bring different things to the table, but we're talking about the difference between a Claustrum BLM and Brawny Adargas MNK right now.

I've done it on multiple occasions. Pil and PW come to mind. I wouldn't vouch for the strength of the WARs though.
