With that being said, make sure your drivers are updated.

New drivers aren't always good for FFXI though

I use an ATI Radeon X1200 series with a catalyst control and it works great. My screen used to freeze, but had nothing to do with that at all. It was thermal.

You can't expect the video card to perform the same in every single PC you put it in. There's more to a PC's performance then just the video card.

RAM
CPU(Type, Speed and Cores)
Storage (RPM or SSD)
Voltage of your Power supply (I'm thinking your video card is drawing too much power from it, causing your game to take a ***)

We need more information, or you aren't going to get anywhere.

have you checked if your windower plugins and resources are up to date? you should check their forums and see what plugins are borked and comment them out of your init.txt. Resources not up to date can cause problems too because windower wont reconize new spells or gear(I think I have read about that crashing/freezing peoples stuff but its something to check into).

Can try going into device manager through your control panel and disabling your infrared tranciever under Human Interface Devices.

Worked for me for a similar problem in the past.
