Windows 7 - ultimate collection - y u no install?
right click within that screen and go to properties see if hidden is clicked off if it is unclick it and apply then it should bring up the folders and such
haha another thing that just clicked in from previous posts u installed the vista/7 POL from the site did u install FF to the exact same folder as the POL went into? if not that could be why pol isnt reading it

(that is where I put all the un-rar'ed files, for POL i assume) and thanks so much, it's really frustrating to suck at something so fiercely. not hidden on the disc, idk wtf is going on
my suggestion is pop in the disk and try to install when it shows u the folder its going into make sure its going into the FF folder under (x86) or else POL aint gonna pick it up id try to delete everything and reinstall even pol cause its trippin me out how it just aint working for u wierd as hell!

I followed instructions and tried tpo file check, but there is no option for FFXI, only POL, & tetramaster. I beg your help again friends! you use the POL installer from the POL website, then use the disc to install ffxi and the expansions. put in the disc then install xi you may have to run the installers manually from the disc if your disc is bad you have to download a torrent of the disc, that one would be fine. I should make a torrent of my disc at some point but tbh I'm not sure how. Install pol with that, then pop in discs to reinstall the rest of the game. Also should thanks the guys to post links, and the "how to" part. mosin, download teamviewer, instal it and pm me your id and password
Jetackuu said: » mosin, download teamviewer, instal it and pm me your id and password finally got it late last night, after quite a pain in the ***. in retrospect, I was trying to take unnecessisary steps. many of the things I was trying to do, weren't even possible/needed. after I got a few pulls of jack daniels in me, I calmed down, deleted everthing I had done, and tried to follow instructions better from scratch. my wife's disc was also very dirty, which was leading to some of the issues. the moral of the story is, when you panic, your intellect loses a good 20 IQ points. thanks a lot for your help everyone, the issue has been fixed due only to you guys' patience & awesomeness. again thank you all, I couldn't have done it without you! \^.^/ cheers, Mosin I've just got a laptop with windows 7 on it, installed ffxi from my vanadiel collection, the WoTG disk and ToAU only for it not to run. So I hunted out the PoL windows 7 update thing, and that worked so I have access to PoL, but when I go to play the game it says FFXI is not installed....
How do I fix this? I'm used to having FFXI on 360 and my PC which is XP so I've not had to battle with a compatibility issue. Will I have to buy the newest FFXI disk for them to work or should I uninstall all the disks and put them back on again now I have the new PoL? Right I've installed PoL for windows 7, uninstalled all my discs and reinstalled them, PoL refused to work so I reinstalled the newest version. That updated fine and works, I go to play FFXI to let it update and it says that FFXI is not installed.....
What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't it work? I'm getting really annoyed because this is 2 evenings now wasted trying to get it to work. Should I just buy the ultimate collection disc and be done with it? Or is there a way of getting this to work? its been a long time since i've ran ffxi, but since no one else is responding...
trying running pol as administrator. they are two separate service trying to communicate with each other, maybe UAC is blocking the communication between the two Odin.Elmodfz said: » Right I've installed PoL for windows 7, uninstalled all my discs and reinstalled them, PoL refused to work so I reinstalled the newest version. Is your FFXI US or EU? That error is indicative of having the wrong POL installed for your region. Here is the link for the EU POL if you are indeed on EU FFXI. http://www.playonline.com/ff11eu/download/media/vista01.html
Ok downloaded it and now installing it. Chances are it's going to have to do that update again now so I'll have to do that tomorrow as it's late here.
Didn't realise there was a US and EU PoL download, thanks :) I hope it works tomorrow lol. Me again :( Ok so it's gone through the FFXI massive 10hr update, and now I have this problem occuring, and I have no idea what to do.
Do I need to have the disk in for it to update or something? ![]() run it as admin?
never seen that before It looks like the install process hasn't finished properly, move the .msi file to the root of your C drive and browse to it again. Might sort it out
Im not sure if installing to C: and not to a temporary spot or folder would be more ideal. As you see in the pic "Verify that you have access to this location.." means taht folder only works as read not read and write which you will need to do if u know regedit and familiar with it you can copy paste change keys and might not haveto do it . so in all install to properplace use Correct Pol EU/US which ever applies to you
also installing to a portable HDD isnt perfered but could work depeneding on setting of that specific one. Also example: C:\Program Files\PlayOnline is where its on my pc. Also sorry for really bad grammer. I can fix it it if you cant decipher it. Its not installing to the above location, its simply picking the installer up from there. Best practice would be to move the installer to a location with guaranteed access rights namely C:\
Unless im misunderstanding what your saying, which is possible as im half asleep ~.~ I installed the game to my C drive, I don't understand what it wants. Let me try running it as admin.
*Edit* Nope still does it. How can I get it to work? I don't even know where my FFXI folder is on this laptop lol. I'm not very good with finding specific game files :S |
