Hello AyinDygra!
Some of the things you mentioned have been covered in Camate's post here, which you can see.
As for a text command to cancel buffs and a button to advance text, those sound interesting! While we can't make any promises, we will look into the viability of adding it. | |
I personally do not see this happening, but if it were to come what is your opinion on this? It is obviously another possible feature windower influenced, but do you think it belongs in the game?
cast Stoneskin > wait 1 > /cancel Stoneskin > new Stoneskin applied
/cancel Utsusemi > cast Utsusemi: Ichi > Copy Image applied
/cancel Sneak > use Spectral Jig > Sneak & Invisible applied

might as well, people already do it anyway, i guess this just removes the accidental removal of shell reraise etc.

They really should do this, one more thing to help the poor souls on lolbox and ps2.
Just fix the crash issues first.

Just fix the crash issues first. They've made a lot of progress on the crashing issues, there is an xbox topic I've been posting in posting updates on their progress. It should be coming this update in 3 days.

On topic, this would be nice, and I'm sure much welcomed. I don't think, however, that this will completely replace the cancel plugin. Not everyone uses a macro for every action. Either cancel will still be around, or their Spellcasts will get changed to use the cancel command.
Would be nice, but like you said, I doubt it will be implemented.

Tbh, why bother doing that? They might as well just make all buffs overwrite.

Wasn't their reasoning something along the lines of "sneak doesn't overwrite sneak because sneak effects don't overwrite sneak effects."?

But whatever the reason is, its moot when they start building canceling in really...

sneak doesn't overwrite sneak because the act of casting sneak doesn't drop it in the first place. Invis works because casting Invis drops Invis, and then casting completion re-applies it.

While I'm all for them implementing this, why don't they just make SS and other effects overwrite naturally...

The reason for the sneak not overwriting itself is to force the player to find a "safe spot" first before recasting. Invisible allowing you to safely recast is just an "artifact" from how the game logic works. They simply were lazy and decided to not add some extra logic to enforce it to require you to cancel the spell first.
Originally, a few spells that currently have no effect on recast would "refresh" when you recast like for example stoneskin.
Sometime around 2003 or 2004 they changed it so it has no effect if you cast while the remaining effect is still in place. (I suspect it has to do with the introduction of the Ninja job with RoTZ) ;)
Obviously same as with sneak, they were probably concerned about people start using stoneskin for tanking with an Terra's staff...
So much for sake of balance...

I'm not saying that I agree with it lol

Not true. Invis doesn't overwrite invis. Try casting on someone else who has invis already, it will fail. It's been said before but the reason it "overwrites" is because the action of casting makes you loose invis first and then the spell resolves and you reapply.
That being said, it doesn't make it any less HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE.

Because it would make already simple content even more simple.

I think you're all missing my point slightly...
I get why sneak doesn't overwrite sneak NOW, but if they add cancel in, they might as well make all buffs just overwrite since you will be able to do that anyway. Since thats what cancel does, I do it with jig for example.

You will agro said mob.
If they make it overwrite, than you will not agro. Which as explained, they want you to get somewhere safe before recasting.
