Random Question thread (FFXI related)
Using a Skeleton Key to open an Aurum Strongbox counts towards the 16 for Moogle Mastery, right?
some floors of Nyzul don't have a map via ffxidb or apradar.
are there the missing maps floating around somewhere i don't know about? this thread made the existing ones even better but the missing maps still don't have anything. https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/56642/nyzul-isle-investigation-complete-maps/ What are we saying Hoxne Ring TH+5% does? Proc rate +5%? Effect +5% could be understood as either TH14 making Ultra rare be 6.5% drop rate (solid +5%) or as 1.575% (1.5*1.05). Obviously if it is the former it would be insane.
It's identical to the gifts thf already has. It's just one extra tier.
it's not 5% drop rate. it's 5% proc rate. aka useless. Sooo from today the archduke shield should be available, right? Which mats necessary, anybody knows?
I would yell at you for not checking bg, but cloudflare is down.

The event is up it should drop the cosmetic sword and shield
As far as Mog Garden goes, and Monster Rearing, what's the length of time if you go in everyday again and do all the things?
How's the progression on Monster Rearing, and any opinions on best Monster bonus? Do those monster cheer bonuses require a daily upkeep too? Do the x5 gathering options count as 5 instances of gathering towards the total needed for rank up, or nah? Anything better than Revival Tree roots for quicker Furrow progress? I know Grow-M-Good can get you instant harvests, and for that matter, does a plant you can harvest multiple times before new seeds count as much progress as plants that don't? maybe 5~7 minutes give or take having to empty out inventory multiple times to clear whatever the node spat out at me. I cant recall entirely so someone can correct me but i think it only matters how many times you gather, so for mineral vein this can be slightly random in how many times youll mine to clear the node that day. While everything else is a 1 and done per node if multiple.
For furrows harvests are what matter, so if you plant something that has multiple harvests each one should count. Efficiency wise revival roots are the way to go if you can repeatedly check back every hour to replant or just have a lot of bayld/gil to dump on grow m good, or the other that cuts it by half so its every 30 mins. Monster rearing is pretty laid back, go in and interact with mob and feed it. When it hits 2? stars it can either evolve on its own or be prompted to by giving it a specific food, depends on the mob, cheers are up to you as far as usefulness, used to primarily like em for the CP bonuses but wyverns 1% haste of cactuars 2% mov speed are okayish, trust buffs are also nice but its whatever you prefer, once you get a cheer you have it, can switch at will and dont need to do any further upkeep of the mob Is the Wyvern Memento's "1% haste" magic haste, gear haste, or ja haste? Doesn't say on its BG wiki page.

Finished everything else but because it's related to the harvest And harvest times vary Revival tree roots were something like and hour or two I was planting and spamming them around the clock After having finished all other parts of the mog garden Does anyone have any data on the duration of the Melt Kukri/Knife defense down effect?
I've been testing it out on Locus Ghost Crabs today, and it seems to be tier 2 defense down. Able to overwrite Scissorguard, but also seemingly able to be overwritten by it... (this I am unsure of tbh, I don't see the defense down effect wearing off in my log, but I am not sure whether it's up or not when Scissorguard happens). I'd actually never seen the enchantment effect icon, which looks sick. I'm also curious to know if the Kukri has a higher potency than the knife. I've only got the knife right now, because I do not have alchemy skilled up/none on AH. acid/melt are all listed as 12.5% reduction according to jpwiki.
However, acid's hq (corrosive) is listed as 18.75% reduction. to clarify, the def reduction is listed as the same for any [acid|melt|corrosive] [weapon], be it kukri, knife, dagger or baselard. Any quick opinions on the best AF3+3/4 sets in 2025 to use the Vanabout coupon on?
WAR,RDM,SCH,BRD,THF,DRG,DNC? Eliminate anything you already have a partial of. It's more optimal to just build 1 missing piece than waste a whole 5 set for 1 piece.
Whichever job has the least +3 built already is the optimal use. I think that question is worth a separate thread
what jobs get the most use of af+3/4 and what how many pieces? if it has a WSD piece, it gets a use since +stats and more WSD
if it was a good TP/idle/tank piece, it gets a use due to nice injection of meva + 1 or 2 points of mdb if it was already a high macc piece, it gets a use due to higher stats/macc everything else is kind of moot since no traits got increased, enmity values didnt change, just raw base stats like hp/mp and a bump in eva/meva. So most jobs will see atleast 2 pieces in their set get bumped War and thf probably good candidates for using the slip off the top of my head
Rdm, brd, all use a lot of their AF. Probably those, then sch, war. Rest probably a nah.

Which job has the best AF+3 set (moot IMO). 2. Which job that I play decently is missing stuff. 3. Which job do I hate bringing to Omen. 4. Which job do I have the least of. Lets look at what this is worth: To get the full set (from nothing) you need (roughly): 3 game quests and 3 coffers (~2 hrs of game time plus some waits?) 50 Rems Ch. 1-5 40 Rems Ch. 6-10 76 omen cards 5 beads 30ish million in gil. I just don't see how #1 is relevant (if it matters you should already have it, likely true for #2 as well). 2-4 all have arguments depending on preference. Unless you just plan to never touch the job you have nothing of, I think #4 is obvious. (if you have nothing for multiple jobs, then I'd defer to #1, which I'm dodging). BRD
DNC AF is pretty low-mid value. Upgraded body is nice for -Waltz delay and hands have high WSD but head/feet are just JA macro pieces that work at basically any upgrade level and I don't think there's much use for legs.
What is this vanabout coupon anyway?
K123 said: » What is this vanabout coupon anyway? At 700 Plaudits you can pick a coupon that gives you a full set of AF3+3. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss the best sets and some of the post above have been excellent. Fenrir.Brimstonefox said: » I think there's a few answers here: 1. If you've already established your character, chances are you already ruled out 1 and 2, quite possibly 3 since you'd have a surplus of cards from doing Omen. In which case, go with the 100 deeds as it gets you 2 1/2 months closer to another free ADL and PW pop (and more free Venus/Mars orbs), its also guaranteed 3 Abdhaljs Seals. But if you're truly insistent on using the AF+3 Kupon, get the one that you have the least AF for, then you can store it on slip 25 and never use it since you've already established you dont play the job at all. If you are not an established character: Get the 100 deeds of Heroism and get yourself 2 1/2 months closer to Deed Vouchers +2, Deed Tokens +2, Monberaux, Martial Treatise KI's to have more merit WS available, etc. But if you're absolutely, truly dead set on the AF+3 Kupon, this will depend on what job(s) you've decided on as some AF+3 is 4/5 dogshit (NIN, SMN, DNC, MNK might be in that list), but you'd likely be best served to just get the set of the job you play most as most jobs have 3+/5 good pieces at +3 Taint said: » Any quick opinions on the best AF3+3/4 sets in 2025 to use the Vanabout coupon on? WAR,RDM,SCH,BRD,THF,DRG,DNC? (my op) WAR - Best pieces legs/feet at +3/+4, still relevant in base TP sets. The Body for WSD for certain WS/if you don't have Nyame25/30. You get at most 3 "useful" pieces from the coupon, and the body is debatable. If you prefer Sakpata for allthings, you might not even value the legs/feet either (though I love them personally). RDM - IMHO, probably one of the better sets to use the coupon on. The head is probably BIS for Aminon Absorb-TP with FC+Magic Accuracy, but just general FC. The hands at +4 are phenomenal for WS and are BIS enhancing hands even at +3. The Body is very good for enfeebling and a key Refresh spell piece. The legs are a great Enhancing Skill piece. The only "useless" piece is the feet, but I would still say up-and-coming RDMs should definitely use a coupon here. SCH - another great set to use the coupon on. Every piece has a use in one way or another, even if you keep it at +3. BRD - This is a good set if the BRD needs Magic Accuracy/Skill pieces, and some of the pieces have enhancements to certain songs. Same as SCH, every piece is good and has a use, at the very least as higher magic accuracy/song debuff pieces. THF - Probably a hot take because THF isn't meta, but the +4 AF set for THF is bonkers. Head - amazing for WS, Body - phenomenal TP piece that isn't as squishy anymore, Legs - Competes with R30 Gleti's legs, but just a great melee option, especially with Twashtar AM3. Feet = Free +18% Movement Speed, and at +4, if I'm not mistaken, is the highest evasion footwear THF can use. The Hands are garbo though. I made these pieces first to +4 because they are so fun and what I consider to be much more significant improvements for the job vs other jobs. DRG - I honestly wouldn't use the voucher on this set, but the body/hands are good jump pieces. The legs are good WSD if you lack Nyame 25/30, but they don't have any attack and have the same base STR as Nyame, and much less when augmented. The feet are just OK but probably not what people would use for Jumps (maybe a beginner would). DNC - The body is great for waltzes, the head is just a macro or DW piece, and the hands are probably your best item from the set for most WS, the legs are trash, and the feet are "useful" if you need the waltz potency or the Jig duration if you're not getting it from Relic (but otherwise unnecessary if you have relic). I'd throw WHM on this list as having a useful set that you can instantly upgrade to. At least 4 pieces are very good at just +3, and if you're building a starter WHM will have a big impact immediately. The rest of the jobs, I can't say for certain if they are worth a coupon as you don't get close to 5 useful pieces. Honorable mention to GEO, hands/legs/feet are good), |
