I really don't know, that's what XIII-3 will explain I suppose. Either way, after I saw that secret ending, I wanted to flip my Xbox so far into the sky.

More on target tho. Irregaurdless i find seph better. Best bad guy in FF series. And i dont say that as some fan boy, but rather their was no bad guy that could envoke an emotion quite like him.

I think sephiroth is the "better" villain, BECAUSE:
Caius isn't the person you'd call a villain. His reason to act like a villain are very well explained and actually understandable. You can understand why he's going through this all and somehow it seems like he's doing not a bad thing after all. Well except for [insert heavy ending spoilers here].

I swear to God, I'm not trying to start a war here... They're really going to make 13-3? I thought x-2 was bad enough, but I'd like an option for a FF that's not this storyline anymore. Some people hated 8 but you moved on. 9 wasn't my favorite but I logged 200 some hours into X (granted 150 of it was blitzball). I feel robbed in that half a decade of FF releases will be consumed with what I consider to be an awful game/series.

Nope, as far as I know they're releasing the rest of the story in increments via DLC.
ff13-3 is an assumption made by most.
Unless it's been announced elsewhere, but I don't think it has.
Well the creators said they are gonna put later on the true ending as DLC
too bad i lost the link of the information since it was when i finished the game weeks ago(with all the trophies)......i feel too lazy to go to my history for that XD

I can't rate one over the other.
I don't see them all as being the same type of villain so you can't make a straight comparison.

I have yet to stomach playing 7 completely and my full knowledge of seph is full of holes but I'd give it to him by default
Caius is just another new generation pseudo-philosophical anti-villain like most other final bosses of rpgs, ff13-2 was an alright game, loved the battle system but I couldn't really get into it. The real question is why wasn't our favorite clown that mass murdered and enslaved humanity for 'just cuz lol' considered if we're gonna compare best antagonists.
Caius's sword is pretty cheesy... It's hard to not think of him as Kain they even have the same lines

I haven't finished ff13-2 yet (i've seriously spoiled myself reading this thread) but I don't get the chills I got when I first played FF7 and first heard of Sephiroth. Like in the Shinra building with the blood trails. I mean it felt like Sephiroth couldn't possibly be bargined with and was a loose cannon. Whereas Caius seems more reasonable. On the other hand I love the English voice actor of Caius. He also played Balthier in FF12

Final Fantasy 8 was terrible, didn't even try to finish it

I have to stomach the graphics, it kinda sucks going back and playing older games I think that's where the hardcore love comes from playing certain good games first rather than ten years later, When you've seen so many different plotlines and twists most stuff seems moot or boring. But it sucks being genre savy tbh -_-

Final Fantasy 8 was terrible, didn't even try to finish it
Damn right lol. FFVIII had lag issues in battle mode. Also can max characters at the start of the game and can possible get Lionheart on Disc 1.

I will give you that for Sephiroth, but really the way VII panned out in general was brilliant. The music chilled your bones. I still think Hojo's the real baddie of VII though :c

As for the general game series.
Every one of the final fantasies I played, I loved when I played them. Replaying and going back and looking at them I can see flaws in all of them but it won't ever take away the epicness of my memories when I played them.
Kefka is my favorite though I've not played 13 yet.
Kefka and Kuja are the best villains imo :O

not the same guy lol. the voice actor for Caius is a guy named Liam O'brien who also play War in Darksiders.
i like 8 a lot but not for the odd and dumb need a GF to win battles or the other relatively flat characters that existed that weren't Squall, Rinoa, and Laguna. But for watching Squall develop as a character because of Rinoa and how hilarious the turns in their relationship and the situations they went through. Laguna's backstory is awesome and the icing on the cake and gives you the impression that he's more than a random babbling goofball.
And I guess Squall's sister to a lesser extent as being important too bad I can't remember her name.
