returning to ffxi via xbox360
I don't have to to pay for Xbox Live again till late 2013 because Microsoft broke my Xbox, so they gave me a new Xbox and a one year Xbox Live card.
they brick it with an update?
Yeah it got broken by an update, but the console still worked except it no longer read games. I think the update flashed the DVD drive and mine ended up broken.
odd as hell.
I need to hunt down a 360 and a ps3 drive now that I think about it...fack. It's a shame they broke my 250 GB slim because they would have replaced it with a 250 GB slim regardless of the broken xbox's model.

Their policy was a brand new Xbox 360 Slim to anyone whose Xbox was broken by the update. I guess they were trying to make up for them being directly responsible for the xbox being broken. If it had been my older xbox that it happened to, I could have gotten an upgrade rather than a replacement.

I shelled out a few hundred for mine... surprised that they didn't pull the "It's not our fault your console is bricked" bs that the terms state for many companies. I still think it's sad that games come with updates, miss the times of popping something in playing. I can see the need for the security updates online, but that's it. This is an article about what happened to me.

I was looking into getting a Dell Inspiron 620 8GB D350S2. Anyone know if thats any good? its about $750 dollars. Its almost at my limit money wise. I could go about 100 more if need be after taxes. But I want something that will be great graphics wise for ffxi. The most annoying thing is playing ff with shity graphics. lol

I'll look into it, but it's late I may have to get back to you tomorrow why are dells no good to you? i played ffxi on a dell notebook. it was bad until i got windower and then things got a little better but it was a laptop so i knew i was getting into trouble lol
dells are just horrible computers, I don't even know where to start.
that computer can do everything you want it to do, better specs (minus the hdd and video) and a better quality than a dell. you can add a video card later if you want to get more from it, what kind of monitor do you have (aka what kind of connection is it, vga, dvi (i, d, a) hdmi), or do you not have a monitor? here's a list of video cards, I'd personally try to get one with a fan on it, threw a few brands on here (they will all work in that pc)
list I'd probably pick an asus, gigabyte or evga, not so sure about the other two. you really don't need anything fancy and most if not all of those will support very high resolutions, as for if they will work in XI we'd need to get one of the video card nerds in here to answer that, I'm not so sure. very cool ill look into it, is installation of one of those a pain?
Shiva.Flakito said: » very cool ill look into it, is installation of one of those a pain? easy, just make sure you are aware of static discharge and the dangers, aka make sure you're grounded. (if you leave the system plugged in but not on when you install this and touch the psu inside the case when you go to touch the pcb, this will suffice, you don't need to purchase an antistatic wrist strap, also if you're in a more humid climate you don't have to worry about esd as much as you would an arid climate). I normally would say build a desktop but due to your level of knowledge without knowing a few precautions I wouldn't try. but for the future I'd recommend taking a computer repair class at your local community college, It's a great skill set to learn. let me rephrase how easy it is to install a video card, I could talk my grandmother through it.
and what about windower? i had a close friend of mine instal it for me but he no longer plays and has no idea what to do anymore. That worht installing these days?

I always got this error when trying to play games. ![]() My Xbox 360 Slim has been good to me so far, but I only have it for console exclusive titles. That would have been easy to fix, mine did that and I just replaced the DVD drive with an identical one, swapped the internal chip boards over and "tricked" my 360 into thinking it was the same DVD drive that it had always had. I don't know how anyone plays FFXI on PC. I started on my old PC which had the specs to run it but it was so laggy! I couldn't do anything like the big end game events because I lost the ability to type due to the lag. Tried it on my new PC which had high specs to run FFXIV (don't ask) and it's just the same, maybe a little less laggy. I still couldn't do a BCNM on that PC because I ended up killing everyone because I'd press a cure macro, and 3 seconds later it would kick into life. My 360 has always run FFXI better than my PC's. Yes the old white one used to freeze in besieged but who's didnt. My new black one gets the hump and dies if I've been in abyssea for 6+ hours with constant action happening, but other than that it's fine. I'd always recommend using the 360 for FFXI because quite frankly, my PC experiences say you'd need a bloody good PC to run it, and it's not worth that much money being spent on it. thats what im afraid of lol, my xbox had 0 lag except for besieged. but i mean if i get my hands on a new desktop with that xbox controller adapter it might work out. i already ordered it a few hours ago from amazon.
I must have a dud Xbox!!
