They've been associating with the terrorists! Burn them! this won't end well . . . US is going to eat their words or someones really going to needlessly burn for nothing . . .. because politicians and ESA are mad ... .
SOPA/PIPA wont pass, that huge protest the other day took our supporters from 5 senators to 37 openly opposed. Think we need 41 no votes for them to crap out (not positive, just going off what I read). This is just the government doing what they can to fight back for support of the bills. They went after one of the worst companies out there so that they could rally some support back. Upside is.. music and movie execs don't get people elected, the millions upon millions of consumers do (for the most part).
The laws wont pass because of the fine print and overly intrusive methodology. Companies like MU, on the other hand, they're going to get it right in the pooper. Arresting people for profiting from other people's copyrighted material is what this will all boil down to, little girls dancing to beyance (sp) on youtube is not piracy (it's a tragedy though). Last line there is why this isn't going to pass.. you'd have to be stupid to let the US Government shut down sites because of user-created content. Unfortunately for the US Government, that's part of what SOPA/PIPA is all about. If you don't like what's going on, contact your representatives, call them.. go to their office.. sign email petitions. I even get email updates of the movement to shut these laws down (from signing up on petitions). Remember we only need a few more legislators to vote no and these things go away indefinitely. The MU arrest is a smokescreen. Petition to investigate Chris Dodd and the MPAA for bribery after he publicly admited to bribing politicans to pass legislation.

While bribery, it's legal and hardly worth taking the time for anyone to investigate.

Personally I tried crunchyroll for awhile and moved back to other subs, and not just because I got tired of paying for it, and adblock knocked out their ads so watching it for free even having to wait a week wasn't what did it. It was the very poor sub quality. The free fansubs were of a higher quality. Not to mention that from what I understand that that site is only available in certain areas which is ridiculous in my opinion. I know a few websites that have fansubs with pretty good quality.
i'm looking for the nonsubbed episodes volkom said: » I know a few websites that have fansubs with pretty good quality. i'm looking for the nonsubbed episodes you mean in Japanese without subs? or dubbed? cuz dubbed: eww.... volkom said: » ah, I haven't picked up enough Japanese to be able to handle that... (plus it's like 45 minutes away). Necro'ing for an update. A video of the raid and general talk of the raid has been released:
A lot of sites similar to megaupload, rapidshare, and depositfiles have been going down recently without any explanation. Not saying anything similar to this would be the cause, and I'm sure it's entirely possible that the website owners simply shut them down due to being scared of the same thing happening to them. I just find it strange I guess lol.
The site I used went down shortly after MU, was no coincidence.. Original owner got scared and sold it, new owner bit off more than he could chew by taking over. Shut down because he couldn't keep it going like the previous owner did.
I've actually seen quite a few large communities shut down for nearly identical reasons (minus the scared part of course).
