Megaupload / Video shutdown, US Arrests
Asura.Bartimaeus said: » I wonder if this has some bittersweet taste to other file sharers. A lot of us MU users [especially the uploaders] will be flocking to other pay services. I'm sure their bottom line appreciates that, but I wonder if it makes them nervous. [justified or not, though most sharers are well aware of the very large.. copyright content on their servers] Either way, just a road bump on the beautiful pirate speedway. Also, anons actions are so weak. If anything it just shows that all they can do is DDoS for a short time, and when they stop there was no real need to worry outside of 'waiting them out'. What ever happened to real hackers? Leviathan.Chaosx said: » What ever happened to real hackers? My new objective for the next week. idk if this was already posted but here
[link removed] (basically stating how anonymous started an uproar of DDoS attacks on the FBI websites and copyright groups) something tells me this will just hurt the protests to stop SOPA :/ DDoS attacks are no better than spam... it's exactly like spam.
I removed the link. They link to an anon post that gives out personal information for folks. Unacceptable.
oh crap sorry about that x.x I'll just redo the post to say the gist of it
Time to watch Person of Interest, later.

Otherwise your hard drive will suffer the consequences of underlying parasites that come with the nature of downloading pornography D: Fake statistics say, 97% of computer hardware and operating system failures are due to overload of porn! If the government was allowed to shut down these websites without due process, what the hell was the point of SOPA/PIPA?
There were so many ways to bypass that 72 minute cooldown stuff on Megavideo. The biggest way was simply to use a VPN to fake your IP Address.
Icefilms was yet another way-- you had to download a script downloader called Greasemonkey, then the script that was made for Icefilms (or download the script directly if on Google Chrome)... it allowed you to download/stream files uploaded to Megaupload/Megavideo/Megaporn as well as a few other upload sites. The government needs to be smart and go about these shenanigans another way if they are so intent on cockblocking piracy. Another "Megaupload" will simply pop up within a month or two, and trust in govt will simply sink further. Ironically, I find it hilarious that Swizz Beats was the CEO. Love it when I hear about an African American running a business. Makes me feel proud, even if it had shady dealings underneath. >_> Damn, I forgot Megavideo was part of Megaupload... More than half of AnimeFuel's videos probably just went dead. :(

Actually they did just wake up today and decide to do something (albeit not arbitrary). After all they had a two year on-going investigation. Funny how it drops during this SOPA/PIPA debate. Try not to hide your head in the sand over this matter. Our government does this crap all the time. anon's raging about something stupid. megaupload honestly deserved to be shut down and the CEO deserves jail. why? MANY sites I go to, I see *** "Download Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 for $.99 at megaupload!" or "Download blabla for cheap!" Plus the *** charge money for faster download speeds. SERIOUSLY it was a scam. Cerberus.Kalyna said: » /sigh anon's raging about something stupid. megaupload honestly deserved to be shut down and the CEO deserves jail. why?
