Otherwise your hard drive will suffer the consequences of underlying parasites that come with the nature of downloading pornography D: Fake statistics say, 97% of computer hardware and operating system failures are due to overload of porn! Don't worry I take my porn very seriously. I have it backed up to several media devices including 3 1.5TB HDDs, 100 5GB Flash drives, 180 DVDs, 90 BLuRays, and 100,000 Floppy Discs (the big foot long ones). I think I'm ok.

But the people claiming slippery slopes *not sure if I used the right word here, please let me know if I did not* need to realize that the owners of MegaUpload KNOWINGLY hid copyrighted material from the tops of the list as to keep people downloading. They broke the law. They're going to get what's coming to them. Why would Skype be shut down? Are they knowingly letting people host copyrighted material and pointing people in the direction of copyrighted material? No? I didn't think so. I think Anon's whole DDOSing right now is to protest against the excessive force used and the collateral damage that happened because of it.
How many innocent users lost their content today? How many legitimate things were taken down today, because of 36 bad files? Yes, I blame Mega for this, but I also blame the government. If a police officer sees someone steal, does he shoot them in the back to retain the stolen item, or does he tackle him? 36 bad files was an example of a specific notice they received. It goes into additional detail further in. Also, there were 1000s of links to those 36 files (they use md5 to save storage space and simply give multiple links to the same file).
I suggest reading the indictment. If no other part, read the e-mails sent between them. Edit: Anon's DDOSing is stupid, and will do nothing but set us back in worthy fights such as SOPA. Edit2: The only users I have sympathy for are those who paid for the service, and never uploaded illegal files. I can agree that they are suffering from this. However, anyone who thought megaupload would last forever is ignorant, in my opinion. All these ddos attacks are going to do is make these politicians think this is more of a reason to try and regulate. If a police officer sees someone steal, does he shoot them in the back to retain the stolen item, or does he tackle him? In your example you're asking what degree of force an officer should apply on the criminal. In either question the thief still goes down but in one the injury is more severe. No one else loses something if the degree of force is greater except maybe the criminal himself. In either case the person he stole from gets the item back. "Investigators said there was no connection between arrests in their two-year investigation of Megaupload.com and the political firestorm that erupted this week over the pending vote on SOPA, according to The Wall Street Journal." lol >.> Siren.Kalilla said: » From FoxNews (yea I know): "Investigators said there was no connection between arrests in their two-year investigation of Megaupload.com and the political firestorm that erupted this week over the pending vote on SOPA, according to The Wall Street Journal." lol >.> Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Siren.Kalilla said: » From FoxNews (yea I know): "Investigators said there was no connection between arrests in their two-year investigation of Megaupload.com and the political firestorm that erupted this week over the pending vote on SOPA, according to The Wall Street Journal." lol >.> Honestly, I don't know why the site itself was taken down. If they have substantial reasoning for their arrests - that's fine, but the site takedown before they are tried? I don't agree with that. After their trials, if they were found guilty then I believe they're more than welcome to take down the site.
Until then, I say, keep your damn hands off. How about a high percentage of their files being illegal?
