Something i have noticed about FFXIAH forums

and these forums are nice, its so easy to get the highest post count in a month!

I dont mind the subscriber payment thing on alla (I wouldnt buy one though). I kinda like less avatars and less signatures..it always looked more inconspicuous in class..except for the giant blue FFxI border at the top 8< which I hid. The FFXI community for some reason is in love with huge obnoxious avatars and signatures..BG was on fandomwank a while back and the first several comments were "OMFG THE SIGNATURES ARE HUGE" 8|
FFXIAH probably has the sleekest look to it. I dont post alot but I browse alot of forums when Im bored.
My only problem with alla is the rating system pretty much. I had no idea alla had a rating system for a long time but I kept seeing more and more complaints about it. A non ffxi related messageboard I used to play on had a rating system that was purposefully abused so our mods shut it down.
you'd think something that was the cause of so much issues on alla would get shutdown too. People say "it doesnt mean anything! you take it too seriously" but obviously it does :P I actually just learned ffxiah had a rating system the other day, I kind of /sigh'd and said to myself "here we go again"
KI Ive never managed to browse real well because it loads slow.
BG is just too rude for me to go on next to the tacky huge avatar/signatures.
The ffxi community in general is one of the rudest communities Ive ever been apart of, but BG is just the most unwelcoming and unfriendly even if they try their hardest to get endgame information first.
The nicest and warmest community is in my opinion the livejournal community.

I have to disagree. If you want to talk about the game you're going to have a very difficult time on these forums. Nearly every single thread is derailed by the second page and the useful threads that don't get derailed are lost in a storm of useless player warnings or deliberate troll posts.

I think I speak for a good majority of the trolls when I say that I'm always willing to give help and advice when it is genuinely being asked for. But hey, sometimes there's just no saving a thread so you just have fun and troll idiots. :D

I think I'd have to agree with this one being the friendliest. I wish there was a less restricted form with age verification though. It's nice to be able not to watch what you say or what pictures you post, especially when it comes to humor.

I'd say the forums are generally well-behaved. Like Bart said, there is a balance there somewhere. While trolls and thread-jackers are a problem, that isn't really something we can regulate.
I would say the only ongoing concern I have is all the sex-related attention whoring and softcore porn threads. I am personally very "anti-prude," and don't want to have to censor anything. But there is no age-verification on this forum, and hundreds of users with children that also use the site have privately expressed concern with the massive increase in this kind of material lately.
If I'm eventually gunna have to choose between leaving a bunch of users feeling the site is unsafe for them and their kids, or making 4-5 over-sexed posters sulk off in a huff like spoiled children because I won't let them post naked underage mithra porn anymore, it's pretty obvious which I'm going to go for.

I love this forum!!
People have the right to speak his/her mind, give each other help and just chill out and have fun (except for a few usual suspects) It's great to make friends and socialize with people that's just like yourself. Even the artwork is amazing.
But... referring to what Jareik said earlier.. it is weird to see a mithra showing her panties as soon are you click the link to open the forum. It's good to enjoy great artwork and goof off and stuff but maybe it's personal opinion as to what's offensive and what's not :o

We all know wtf is wrong with this forum, so many flame wars you don't know which way to look without almost catching on fire. The job forums are full of so much epeen asshats it would differ almost anyone from playing a single job or make them feel inadequate at their job. FIRST OFF... i would love to say that i respect the LS as a whole. But the forum is a complete and utter waste of time with a user base and ego the size of a plane full of dog ***flying to Miramar. The advanced thread is such an epic "who has the bigger *** or opinion" contest that it's amazing people even post there so much. While this is all true i do still browse for a good read every now and again for useful info, but after reply 1 or 2 you start to notice a trend in the replys. Posting there for the average player is asking to be belittled and it's sad to see such oldfags try to act cool in a place they think they feel it's safe to do so. /endrant.
KI and BG also have great information and are usually the first NA communities to provide insight on the latest new mechanics or new events. Both boards are filled with endgame players whereas the other boards clearly aren't.
Don't believe me? Bring up botting. KI and BG posters generally don't give two shits about botting and the majority will reply that people cared about botting back in 2004. Why? Because every.single.HNMLS. has a bot of some sort, whether it's App, NASA, or another packet bot. Now bring up the same topic on Alla and you'll find the moral police out in full force (or even on these forums, look for the hilarious thread made by Barrd).
Honestly, if you know how to play the game and know your job(s) inside out you won't have any problem fitting into BG or KI. It's not about lolepeen or what ever people try to paint it as - people are flamed for being gimp/sub optimal or just posting flat out wrong information.
I've brought up some amusing points about moral police in our own forums before...
