Greetings everyone! I let the dev. team know your feedback about allowing you to escape out of chat with the newer NPC's. They informed me that the reason why they didn't give the option to cancel some of these NPC conversations is because it would cause progression problems if these specific conversations were skipped mid-way or interrupted by an outside influence. (For example, flags would not be raised, won't receive the needed item, etc.) Because of these issues, they intentionally set up these NPC's to require you to complete the dialogue properly.

We completely understand the convenience of being able to skip whenever you like, but with the current system, it is necessary to have this precaution. We appreciate your understanding.

im sure people know not to esc out of a conversation where they will receive an item, i just find it incredibly annoying when im talking to horst (or another of his ilk) and remember that i need a certain weapon or item from mog, and have to go through the options instead of the trusty old esc key.

I love it when I'm in Jeuno and I'm stuck talking to the NPC unable to ESC out of the conversation.

Thread got deleted, used it again just cause!

Didn't expect a dev response, but I guess that makes sense.

Not really :|

You can't cancel out of a cutscene, if they have the capability of doing that what is to stop them from doing it for special conversations between an NPC.

It sounds more like they don't know what the f~ they're doing and know nothing about the game they own and how to code for it, or are too lazy to give our requests any respect at all and push it under the rug just like every other minor tweak in the game they refuse to do.

There's a lot of inconsistent coding on the UI and menu choice behaviour over the years.

Remember the magical map vendors from 2003? They will only sell you the KI maps that you don't have. When you purchase a KI map, the selection no longer appears in their list when you talk to them. But in 2011, if you talk to the cruror prospectors, they'll keep trying to sell you the same KI abyssites and temp items over and over that the game *already knows* you have LOL--forcing you to tab through pages of items the NPC will end up refusing to give you if you asked for them, anyway. :p

Or on some NPCs the default Yes/No confirmation will be "yes", while on others it will be "no" (even on things you'd probably always want to default "no" on...) And sometimes the "yes" or positive affirmation will be on top...and other times it will be on the bottom. :p

It's just lazy/inconsistent UI coding across many different dev teams...if no one complains they won't examine it.

Yea but if you start calling them out on their BS they just don't respond and ignore the whole topic (when they were starting to announce the WS nerfs). I really doubt any of the important messages people were trying to send to SE weren't sent. Really is pathetic of a company like that.

If they'd spend a little time fixing all the half broken stuff in the game, it'd be much more enjoyable.
