I'm not complaining (I'm glad they're doing it), I just seem to be a little overwhelmed.
For years I felt I had accomplished most of everything I wanted. I still haven't done WotG completely, but that's because the storyline is horrid and the reward/effort ratio is depressing. I sat like a fat house cat enjoying the spoils of my efforts and leasurely leveling jobs. At one point I considered quitting just because I felt I had nothing else I wanted to achieve.
The Abyssea brought change: some better, some worse. I was given something to do by making a couple empyreans (got savior atma because I'm crazy about completion), and farting around in there for a few. The problem, and a good problem to have, is that I was abscessing gear from my sacks, satchels, bags and house! I narrowed down the jobs I felt I could competently keep geared to 3-4ish and kept the rest geared with "similar job gear" (for example my nin, thf, blu etc look similar in loki's and ocelot gear).
The advent of voidwatch, and its deplorable droprate, is finally putting me behind. I still have to go back and get a couple sets of empyrean gear (farming coins isnt as easy as the other +2s). I have half a dozen "half leveled" jobs and now they're releasing 99. On top of that working on a relic.
I'd say I'm pretty "casual" compared to the way I used to be. I play for about 12-18 hours a week, compared to the marathon that I used to. I would say half of that I'm doing dishes or laundry while someone shouts to make a VW group, or I'm waiting for our PST friends that seem to show up later every day. If I had to nail down a number, I would say that I might spend a total of 4-5 hours a week actually "accomplishing" something in game.
Lastly, I miss Erik. I miss a lot of my friends who used to just chat at me to pass the time. Some quit game. Some have different schedules. Some are busy admining on auction house forums (;3). It's probably that I'm just getting old :/
tl;dr: I feel overwhelmed with the rate of content release lately. I'm not against it, I just feel the need to say it out loud because I'm staggered by it.

If you're not having fun accomplishing stuff, you should really slow down. You aren't obligated to keep up.

Agreed. I took my time, haven't really done Voidwatch seriously yet. I'd rather completely dominate Abyssea before moving on. So that I may have the best possible experience entering Voidwatch.

Don't worry. I haven't even read up on VW, let alone participated in one. I did see a group fighting a VWNM (I assume) on my way to Behemoth though.

I have plenty of complaints about the game but I can deal with most of that pretty okay. I do feel pretty behind on everything but I'm mostly sad that I'm not excited for this update at all. I suppose that's mostly a function of how life has decided to throw it's worst my way over the last few months.

I have fun (when I'm not staring at the inside of my mog house waiting) but I have the "I WANT TO LOT ALL THE THINGS" feeling and then it feels like I'm getting less and less done every day T.T
To be honest, I should just dissapear for 6 months (semi-joking). When it was 75 cap the new items and content would be marginal increases or side-grades allowing for some versatility and "unique snowflakeness" to the game. Now it's like every update just replaces all the crap that everyone just got ala WoW. "Congrats on your war eaf2 but now theres VW gear, and now theres VW2 gear.... LOOK AT ASKAR +5 STATS".
Speaking of which, that ***better be a hoax lol. I think they're going overboard adding "50% chance to instantly win the game" to that crap. Its like a further extension of what I was saying. If AH gear at 75 had a useful rating of 4, relic had 5/6, TOAU had 7/8. Now they make 80/85 cap gear have a rating of 12 and VW gear like 15. Askar +5 looks like a 30......
What the crap....

If you're not having fun accomplishing stuff, you should really slow down. You aren't obligated to keep up. This a bunch. My last return (earlier this year), I didn't pressure myself to keep geared like my friends. It was liberating. However, I grew bored of the game and finally felt like I could put it down indefinitely.
Skype with your friends that no longer play is always good.

You can always stay on the couch if you need a place to stay (don't know how bad life is getting for you). We have a nice double length loveseat too.

If it were I'd always lose to you and your blu ;3
WotG feels to me like the crappy girlfriend you know you'll never work out with. CoP was the first love that I'll compare all others to. Nations were nice at the time but forgettable now. RoZ was the 1 night stand with a steamy climax (srsly I spent less than 6 hours on Roz aside from DM and Bahamut, but those redeemed it). ToaU is the cute girl you like but for some reason never introduce to your friends.
WotG is that "off" girl. She's got some idiosyncratic problem that you can't let go, or she's too dumb/smart for you and it makes you bored/intimidated. You try to make it work and everyone tells you that you're cute together, but she's too corny and won't shut up about her damn cat.....

I agree 100%. I never got how people could feel "behind" or what not. No sense rushing through things because right after the joy of finishing said thing, it is like.. ok now what? As for WOTG I loved the story, it really picked up a lot towards the end of the actual missions, but the windy WOTG questline was just about perfect.Even better if you have done the RNG af quests.

I wanna do WoTG Ash! Let me catch up here when I get time and we can duo it. My BST friend said he basically solo'd most of it and only a few fights he needed others. I would enjoy finishing that and maybe working on it a couple days a week after Ein :D
Edit: I need lots of VW Bodies still too >.<;; But I wanna still make a few more weapons in Abyssea. Too much stuffs I wanna do! Not enough time!

I feel you. I just came back to the game in October. My to-do list is ridiculous. I have thought about joining a LS, but I really don't want to have to change my avatar to "LOT ALL THE THINGS". I'd feel incredibly selfish then.

my to do list is beyond rediculous, especially since i'm attempting to maintain 3 characters, so if you just need a body to help with something hit me up. (my gear sucks, and my skills are almost as bad)

I'm on sandy questline just past the "Haze of glory" fight. I solo'ed everything so far as drg/whm and I'm fairly certain I could do all but the final BC's like this. If you wanna do Sandy path I'm sure you can catch up long before I get anythign accomplished.

See the thing is that I want to do is strike while the iron is hot. When the update comes out there will be people leveling like crazy. Parties will be easy to get and the exp will be fine. I can level the obscure jobs with easy (instead of paying someone to cleave exp leech me while I shower or make dinner). Also, I'm not sure if it's today but there is the tier II jeuno voidwatch coming soon. This will cause people who haven't done voidwatch yet to start shouting for clears to catch up. Essentially, after new VW content is the best time to find shouts for it.
I'll most likely end up getting 1-2 weeks of quality gameplay with no down time and then be stuck with "stare at moogle for an hour and then get asked to do 3 things once I finally do something". I should have entered the moogles law contest and said "ejiin will always ask if you want voidwatch as soon as you agree to do something else" or "the other members of your set will show up after you enter dynamis with 2".

It's better to have lived life slow, than reach a point where there is LITTERALLY nothing left to do but minor nitpick BS that bores you to tears.
But with MMO's sometimes people feel they have an obligation to keep up/stay on top of things which is fine to a point, but enjoy the long list of to-do's while you can... someday you'll wish you had that feeling again.
Personal experience.
True story.... and stuff.

Yeah, I came back and played for a day (thanks again Jos for the +2 body) but now... it just doesn't seem all that great as it used to be. I guess for me this game was like drinking (bear with me here, there's an analogy coming). I do it socially, so when everyone I used to play with stopped, it became kinda tedious. I'm already considering hanging it up entirely. Sometimes you just need a break, you know?
Also, because I am who I am, here's your dose of smartassedness:
I listened, but don't really know what to say. Listening with your eyes and talking with your fingers.

You know if you need to level some odd job you can just have me whisker burn it up. And if you won't take charity leveling then I can force you to help my with my souls.

I'll always take charity leveling lol. I pay some randoms to cleave for me all the time and I'd be happy to give the money to you. Also, I'd help you with souls regardless of whether you level for me or not XD. I don't use my abyssea VW pops anymore so if youre out and im sitting around town lemme know!

I'm ur ing "under achiever" lol if ppl want to consider me that way...been ing 4 years perhaps but the last year daily...all the events and add ons etc,,easily obtainable gear...levels..parties..all nice...but what I like...truly like and what was my introduction to this game as my bro's mule char before my own acct? Crafting..fishing..I know...I know...stupid? lol perhaps a waste of time or fees (could be worse..I could waste it on a worse addiction that a mmo..which I can never understand how some ladies *** over their guys playing a vid game..but thats just me)...I have high level jobs have done nearly everything in this game...but I stray sane with this one thought that was shared in a players bazaar comment...bless him wherever he is or may be.."Play your game your way"...words of wisdom......
