Anyone else notice the Afterglow effect on all the level 99 Emp, Relics and Mythic.

Apocalypse Rare Exclusive
Scythe
DMG:167 Delay:513 Accuracy+40
"Catastrophe"
Additional effect: Blind
Afterglow
Lv99 DRK

http://juliandev.com/ffxi/TEST2011-11-25/Weapons.txt

Figured I would do my relic, instead of copying all of them from Julian page.

Not for nothing but because of the close wording I'd think that it might be a mis-translation of aftermath.

However it is very very possible that I am wrong.

BG speculation was that it extended ODD as a Sphere effect on the Empy weapons, so probably the same for relic Aftermath.

Or could it just be a cool glow effect like a GMs armor?

The biggest thing that supports the idea of a sphere effect instead of something as silly as this. Is that the JP version translates to "Aftercircle."

At least they've upped the weapon's base stats other than DMG this time.Afterglow will be interesting though

Iirc, they changed both translations to "Afterglow"

Also, Julian's mining did not pull down any new status for it, so the new status either isn't implemented yet or gives Aftermath status AoE. It will be interesting to see how it interacts when there are multiple empyrean/mythic/relic holders in the same party.

Other things to note:
* They re-added all forms of Laev and Tupsi, so maybe they changed them enough that they don't suck now.
* They misspelled Twashtar -> "Thwashtar"

Just think how friggin broken it would be if you had 1 Bravura + 1 Apoc, if the effect was AoE.....

Bravura and Apoc are the only two aftermaths that would be marginally comparable to Empyrean AM, and nothing is comparable to Mythic AM3. That said, there are no guarantees that SE will let people have more than one Aftermath icon up at the same time. There are a million different ways for them to screw this up.

Whenever they re-add something, the theory is that they changed its attributes in some way. They re-added all forms of both of those weapons. If I was a betting man, I'd bet the aftermath has changed (increased). It was already 30~50 MAB at level 95, I think. Beanbean did some testing with it, but I must not have gotten around to adding it to the wiki.

I mean, 50 MAB? Go get a real staff, noobcakes!
100 MAB? Now that's something else.

In some situations, like Voidwatch, it's pretty feasible to go Wing -> Chry. Torque -> WS and keep AM up pretty much all the time. The mage ones last for like five minutes or something ridiculous.

I wonder if; yeah, it's an upgrade on Aftermath. Where your weapon glows after a weaponskill. This effect being marginally similar to that which is recieved when defeating an add from a Zilart VW NM. Extra dimentional surge thingy.. Maybe not as powerful, but it has a similar effect.

I say that because aftermath has always been defined to be this that or the other. It seems for 99 relics, "Afterglow" is all that is stated.

Question: I seem to recall reading somewhere that on the test server off handing relics maintained their +attack. Can anyone confirm or deny?

But that's my point. Afterglow isn't defined.. which, i guess, means it's the same for all relics.

I think aftermath will stay rather than be upgraded. Afterglow is just an addition to aftermath. We'll see! How exciting!..

The magian system on the test server is broken, so people can't look it up. Julian grabbed all the .dat info onto his website:
http://juliandev.com/ffxi/TEST2011-11-25/
and Aegis/G-horn aren't there, as far as I can see.

Also, we will not know until the testing was done if they increase the hidden ODD (on Apoc) proc rate. 20% now is pretty rediculous, and if it goes up even more with this "Afterglow" watch out

Pretty sure this was already posted somewhere on here but this will give a decent idea of stats if you can read JP. Aegis/Ochain are on another page, but if my japanese isnt terrible, I believe it says -50% MDT sphere after shield bash.... and base defense is still 40 ofcourse.

It could be possible that they did not add translations for the new status effect. More than likely, they're just going to use the sphere effect, assuming that's what it is.

Because having a sphere effect, and having no freaking clue what it is, who it's coming from, and what it does, is good game design.
