Stop playing FFXI, get FFXIV updated today!
I;m still so confused my file much be arrange very differently than you guys. Vista strikes again @.@. For me it goes Computer >> Gateway(C:) >> Program Files(x86) >> Square Enix >> Finalfantasy XIV >> now is this folder there is no download or patch foler. All that is here is: client folder, data folder, boot.ver, ffxivboot, ffxivconfig, ffxivgame, ffxivlogin, ffxiupdater, game.ver, patch.ver. Where do i go from here?
It's not under program files. Look at my website. It has a screenshot. It should be documents > games > ffxiv etc
You know what bugs me about XIV is that I would have liked to get in on the ground level, and it came out and sucked so bad. Then it had all the recent problems and I figure it will never be what it should have been to begin with. I don't see a point in working with it. It is kind of like buying a Corvette, finding out it's a Daewoo, and then the dealer says oh wait, bring it back give us some time and we will make it a Cadillac.
1. I didn't want a Cadillac, I wanted a Corvette which is what you sold me on. 2. I lost a lot of time waiting for the upgrade 3. I still don't have a Corvette. I can't bring myself to reward that kind of behavior. I truly hope you all enjoy it and it pans out to be something that lasts like XI has/did for you. Comparisons can be usefull but... what exactly do you miss about old FFXIV? Edit: Ok i kinda missed your point but at least they are fixing your Daewoo, it's not like they aren't doing anything about it. As for the time lost that's void unless SE locked you up in a waiting room. Anyways, they can't pretty much redo the whole game in 1 week, i'm patiently waiting and fine with it. lol @ OP
I'm having too much fun with FFXI to care about SE's attempts to resurrect the corpse of FFXIV. Glad someone's enjoying it though. It's to bad I sold my computer that could run FFXIV well, because it just wasn't worth playing. Paid 1,200 for the computer about 1 month before it came out... Sold it about 9 weeks ago for $1,000... I screwed someone over as badly as SE screwed everyone that got a unfinished game over.
I did install FFXIV onto my old computer it's a dual core 2.4 with a Geforce 470 in it... and there are still lag and glich issues as of last week... I will be downloading this patch but until... the PS3 release comes out my hubby and I can't both play so we will not be playing... So you bought a 1200.00 pc for ffxiv only and sold it a month later for a grand and lost 200 bucks. lol.. No use for a computer other than ff14 huh... If you had to buy a new pc for the game then why would you expect your old one to do any better?
It's not the game. Probably not the brightest thing to do buying a pc for a game only and give up a month later. Why not keep the pc, use it for what it's actually built for and play other games if you have to or wait to see how 14 turns out. so if i follow ya steps Krizz, i wont have to sit thru this 7h+ update download?
It is hard to start again when most of the people finally got access to good gear through abyssea. I'm finding FFXIV much more fun

There's some audio degrading problem that some people are reporting after installing 1.19... tried fiddling with the audio settings and nothing, everything sounds like my speakers are under a bucket after patch, only happens in FFXIV.
Well I must say I love the changes. I updated my game played a little to check out the update its very nice, the game seems promising if they continue with the progress I'll probably come back when the ps3 release comes out. Have fun guys.
I've gotta admit, over the past week, I've played a ton more FF14 than FF11.

the past update made 14 a little more enjoyable imo~
The patch is terrible if you're a new player starting out. I can't even start my MRD on lvl10 leves w/o nearly timing out on each one, or flat out failing the leve completely.
I'm no new player, but I can see why so many are complaining about it. SE needs to remove the ability to equip gear if you don't have the level for it. Whats the use in equipping it early anyway (outside of DEF) when it won't benefit you otherwise? Im taking a break from Rift to try FF14 again and am having the same problem on my Thaumaturge or w/e the f. I hit level 10, tried the level 10 leves on solo difficulty and couldnt complete any of them. Im level 11 now and am having to focus fire 1 of the leve mobs, die, return, and run back for every one of the mobs and barely have time to complete a leve. Shouldnt the level 10 leves on solo difficulty be able to be completed by any class solo at level 10? Wtffffffff im gimmmmmmp go grind for a bit then come back. i soloed all my battle jobs to about r20 on dodos in ll by skull valley. there are alot that spawn and you can basically AOE. but thats what i didl.
lol ok I think Im getting the hang of it
i've been solo exping very easily just from leves. just set it to be at your level or one or two higher (easily done now that the difficulty specifies level of mobs). then chain them as well you can and get good exp from completion. plus since there is a leve allowence now... if you take a break for a couple weeks, you can solo exp plenty when you get back XD
I feel like i may be missing something but i'm not seeing the problem with getting exp. its just different, so people have to readjust to how to be efficient, mostly by chaining things your level or higher instead of spam killing weak mobs. of course this means grinding exp is only really practical in a pt, leves are even better exp than ever before (at least they have been for me). got from 34-37 from 2 batches of leves. yeah the exp chain is awesome i went from r47 arc to r50 in day and half. i spent the whole time at the beast camps with other r45-r49 players very nice. now all i want to do is get my battle jobs up there now.
After having gone and leveled MRD a bit more, I just approached soloing the same way as in XI and it actually felt about right.
My problem was that I went into it with the pre-ptach mindset, where you could obliterate things 10-15 lvls above depending on the job COUGHARCCOUGH, but to be brutally honest the exp/difficulty seems about right compared to what XI was like. I found going 2-3 lvls above was safe, anything higher was pushing my luck. Inb4 "Don't make it like XI!" It isn't game-breaking, people just need to take a different approach to it now. I think the last year has spoiled us, lol. Actually, I'd prefer them to make it more like XI in terms of straight grinding. I find soloing no faster or funner than it was in XI even if you could take down considerably stronger opponents..
Beating the same mobs for hour(s) in a row just isn't fun, unless you're part of a sizable group doing it. Solo grinding in XIV reminds me, almost like I'm staring at my Taru in XI doing it, of farming in XI.. Extremely tedious and just all around boring, I abhorred farming in XI, I don't feel much different about solo grinding in XIV. I'm considering reinstalling XIV but don't want to be wandering around like a lost noob.
Does anyone fancy taking me under their wing and showing me the ropes? If so let me know which server please :) what time zone are you? should get with someone within your time zone. but come back the game is way better from a year ago.
