Ah I didn't know that acc and def made that big of a difference in this game. I think before I start playing lnc again, also forgot about mrd that's what I played in beta and it was fun so I'm prob going to do that job too, I'm going to get my gear up to par or least get to being able to afford some better gear. I've been taking a horrible beating in the rank 10 levequests, and it's most likely since I'm still in the crap gear we get at the start.

I also want to thank everyone who's posted info on this thread... there has been a TON of useful information up here and I have to say I'm having a blast on this game now. The game still has flaws, no doubt, and I'm not trying to be a fanboy who would defend the game to the death... but I must say between the beta and first week stage that I played, and this last week that I played, there has been a huge difference and I can see tons of potential and improvements on the way.

Games are supposed to be fun... and I'm having a great time. Also happy I found out about Ul'dah being the main hang out... Been able to find and do a lot more since getting there yesterday... I like the scenery of Gridania better, but this place is great for gear, pt's etc.

Edit: I think I read somewhere that with them re-doing the entire damage algorithm things are going to change a lot... I mainly like mage and up front DD classes, I never got around to play rng or cor in 11 since it was expensive. I'm kinda hanging back though, playing around with certain jobs and mainly just putting time into crafting and what not... I think I already mentioned it but I really like the crafting system.

Ughn.... how do you repair?...

I equipped the armor hammer and bought a lv 2 dark matter for my 10-20 range shield and when I try to "synthesize" the two, it says it cannot be done... I also tried this with my starter lv 1 shoes and a lv 1 dark matter.

You click on the gear in your inventory (not already in synthesis kneel mode) and click 'repair' assuming you have the right repair tool equipped, you'll kneel and it'll pop up the synthesis box with the item needed for repair already..

Beat me... lol.

Question though... you have to be within 10 levels below or any above of the item optimal rank for the repair to be successful right?

I still don't know the ranks of when you can repair something for sure, but from the talk I've heard, it seems like you can't repair something unless you're within 10 ranks of the synthesis recipe.. But even then, success would be low.. I've tried more than once on several different occasions (usually taking 3-4 times) to repair gear that is 8 levels out of my range. I don't know when the cut off is and when you get the "you decide to wait" messages to stop, but I do know that anything above 6 levels above your DoH rank is iffy at best.

level for repair seems to be the lower of

10 levels below optimal
10 levels below synthesis recipe

slip you know repairs cant fail at all now right? (Assuming your within level range to do repair)

MRD gets defender, it's a must have for any tank.. PGL gets second wind, a must have for any DD class. Getting THM and CON to 20 for Sac/Cure II wouldn't hurt either.. Getting LNC to 20 for Invigorate is a good idea as well..

MRD also offers bloodbath, which means you steal HP from an enemy on a single attack, it's mostly used on WS.. It's best use is to stack it with Ferocity, Hawk's eye and Raging Strike. Using that on Maim, I get about 500 HP back, with Bloodbath 2, It's a 100% return, so stack those same abilities, I get back from 750-1k. All those abilities also generate more enmity, which means you can tank better, so not only do you get to take HP back from a mob, all the abilities used help to generate enmity.

And if you can stand the grinding, get both MRD and PGL to rank 30 each. MRD gets Intimidation, a trait that increases enmity generated by 10% and is bought with Guild Marks, and Warmonger which is kinda like an AoE Provoke. PGL gets Prime Conditioning, a trait that increases healing effects by 10%, which should help with the current enmity system (1 damage/hp healed = 1 enmity), and Accomplice, which steals hate from a party member and has a fairly low recast (30 sec on PGL, and I believe 45 sec on anything else). Your healer will love you for Accomplice spam :<

Horizon Behest usually is pretty decent SP and a popular spot, can grind whatever you find around that spot and do leves between behests(really sucks they changed behest to every hour).

I'm not to sure on best SP Solo grind spot for GLA but there is a fair spot you can try killing mobs near the entrance to Copperbell Mines.

Best solutions would be to form or join a SP Grind Party, and head to Nanawa Mines to grind Doblyns for decent SP or Puks if your party can handle them.

Also theres a Hippocerf area just west of Ishegard and they are surprisingly easy despite their level difference for a small party of R20-25s. This would most likely be the biggest SP/kill for this range but not necessarily best SP/hour.

For casual play once you get to R23 you can get R30 leves and get a pretty decent hunk of SP by linking leves with a party.

Best of luck to you.
