A new alternative to FFXI?
Im really waiting for PSO2, cant wait for it.. :(
Don't even bother Flion, I stopped at his insulting-rather-than-debating comment towards me.
Doesn't understand that parent companies usually have very little to do with anything. This becomes clear when you work directs or claims and deal with companies that aren't Microsoft yet are shipping you Microsoft products, or working in Walmart Canada where you can see no representation of Walmart America in the store besides a picture of Sam Walton in the office. Or buying Peter Jackson cigarettes, which have existed for 75 years, without knowing they're owned by a company that is owned by the company that owns a company that sells Marlboros. The worst is the attack on your supposed arguing semantics when he adds quotation marks to every other word and attacks it. "You said released, not developed!" In the end it's just a difference of opinion on games. The fact that every Korean MMO since the dawn of MMO's popularity (and the coining of it as a genre) haven't had any relevance in the industry won't really get to him. The fact that every Korean MMO since the dawn of MMO's popularity (and the coining of it as a genre) haven't had any relevance in the industry won't really get to him. Pretty much lol. And that is a good point. Korean MMOs have no relevance in the industry at all. The majority of people who like Korean MMOs jump ship to the next loli cat girl game released with a flashy trailer that has no bearing on the actual gameplay.
Like once a year. The trailers are so bad on these games. I really want to see what they can do with a stronger endgame in PSO2. Levels stopped mattering after a certain point since Forces would cap MST and tech levels fairly easily.
PSO Episode IV introduced ridiculous gear to work toward to (originally Japanese-only quests but partially translated on Schthack last I checked) but there wasn't really much else to look forward to except soloing more efficiently (so you can farm even more items!) in Ultimate mode and saving up for the BCNM fights. ...I have no idea how it was for PSU considering non-JP players stopped getting content and support way too early. also PC/PS2 stopped, but 360 still is running. It gets content, just late as ***. I'm only getting PSO2 if we get it in NA/EU. I don't understand Japanese and it simply isn't worth the headache of constantly seeing squiggles and moonspeak whenever I play, and I'm certainly not one of those people that play a game simply because it's in Japanese (friend does, have no idea how he gets off to that.) It looks really good though. :/

The game play itself is actually rather fun, the missions are simply but its very satisfying when you score a direct hit on a Bird of Prey with a torpedo, even sweeter when the ship blows up a few seconds after. Just not sure how long I'll be able to stand the horrendously slow leveling system. Might be something I will be getting into myself here. Looks to be very interesting and a new way to lose my life once again. PSO2 will devour all of our lives. At least the ones who were obsessed with PSO.
I can't wait to rebuild my FOnewearl. i love pso, but after psu, my faith in sega was lost
even then though, ffxi alone is too much on my plate atm ::::::::::::((((((((((((((( I hear you. I really liked PSU's single player story. It was light-hearted and silly. Can't say I was too able to get into the online play because my PS2 died before I could get too deep into the story..
As for FFXI, I just got back a few month long break and I'm not sure I want to resub or not. I've been playing League of Legends randomly though.. single player was nice on psu, since pso didn't really have an official one before, but it was still a bit too short for me personally, especially seeing how psu's online was stuck at level thirty cap or so for ages before it was ever increased, along with other newer content being introduced so late to the point where the bulk of the population had already abandoned the game
they should just scrap the entire linear level layouts in the first place and make open worlds imo, that would be pretty amazing for pso, since that was the only thing that ever really bothered me about the game(s), where it excelled everywhere else practically What's your name on LoL?
Mine? It's Alibots. I'm at work atm, so I won't be able to add you until I get home in about 4-5 hours ish.
Mine is Spencyono. I haven't been playing much this week though
This'll probably take over for me once it's out: http://www.swtor.com/
Necro Bumping the Heck out of this...
SO FFXI is growing thin on me over the past 8 years. and I pre ordered and tried several times to play FFXIV: I can not play that game, I am not sure what it is about it but I just don't enjoy it. This is the final update for FFXI. and for many long time player who actually still play on original accounts all we have left to do besides drop some merits on WS and lv all 20 95 jobs to 99 is collect more and more gear we can hardly keep track of our bags. I have been keeping my eye out for something new. Every where I turn how ever seems to be another damn WOW wanna be game. I have even played wow. I am just not into the very depth lacking story lines and cartoon like visuals. Also, FFXI has to offer the most diverse and intelligent of all the gaming community: I say this after shortly playing about a dozen other MMOs. Where is there to go beyond FFXI? I have played every single FF title since Nintendo, and even played all the JP ones rom style on PC with crappy translations, lol. So anyone found anything great in the MMO arena? For crap sakes that is horrible grammar: I apologize, but I am not fixing it I am to sleepy ;) Otomis said: » Necro Bumping the Heck out of this... And what about the obscure SNES "Final Fantasy: Paladin's Quest"? 2) who the HELL said this was the final update for XI? we're 99....and...? Smn doesn't have Atomos or Cait... There is plenty of content updates post 99 cap breaking. Do you not remember the 75 cap being around for... idk like 6-7 years before they added 75+? ... so ummmm what? Yes but getting gear wasnt stupid easy like it is now. This is my 1st and last mmo, ive put too much time into it to start another or quit, ive already decided im going down with the ship. Untill then im almost done with my 1st relic which ive always wanted so once i get sick of that ill figure out the next thing to amuse me. We hit 99 and what? Abyssea and VW, i couldnt of been more dissappointed hitting 99 and just having the same crap to do. Yes se will add new stuff but it should of been with 99 to add some excitment. Alot of ppl are doing mythics/relics, work on that, at least itll keep u busy for a few months and mabye by then se will pull their heads out of their ***. Honestly you both failed to follow what the forum original post was about or even come close to a suitable comment towards my post. back away from the forums and go fap some more after you alt+tab and your mom is not watching ;) spend about a week to get best gear for all your jobs, wait until next patch, repeat.
I wasnt trying to follow the orginal post, i was following urs.

And my mom is dead, so thx for that... The video game industry is definitely moving away from MMO's in general ... or at least new MMO's. The capital required to develop a new (worthwhile) MMO is enormous, and the odds of a new MMO being anything other than a flop or fad are miniscule. Essentially, WoW has completely cornered the market (or what remains of the market) for MMO's. The other remaining minor MMO's (including FFXI) make up an insignificant percentage of the video game industry's revenue.
The gaming industry is turning (and has been for a while now) towards "mobile apps" games, freeware, motion-interface games, and FPS/military style games. Sadly, the MMO industry has most-likely already reached its peak and is now "over the hill". So ... if you don't like WoW, and you don't like FF14 (and I don't blame you if you don't like them), then just stick with FFXI, or move-on from MMO's and find a new hobby. Sorry to paint such a bleak picture, but it's realistic. If you're really desperate to play a non-FFXI MMO for some reason, there's a few out there, but you're probably just going to end-up disappointed ... don't waste your time. I think you are right: I have 4 teenagers and all the use is laptops phones etc: My son still likes his first person shooters on the xbox 360. but really the true MMO is a dying breed I fear mate: May have to hang to FFXI till they pull the plug. It is truly imo the highest quality MMO in the market. FFXI highly rates in community, storyline, and divestment of character more then any other game out there. Has nobody tried Star Wars? I'm hearing its amazing, just sayin.
