Square Enix Account Transfer
In order to better safeguard the account security of PlayOnline users and to provide a more streamlined account management experience, we will be transferring all PlayOnline IDs to the Square Enix Account system. The transfer process will be available in the last half of July, and will give users access to an improved user interface that will allow account management from any web-browser. Please visit the following URL for details on all of these changes. http://support.na.square-enix.com/j/kb59527na Please note that all users will have to log in and agree to the transfer by August 31, 2011, or they will lose access to PlayOnline and FINAL FANTASY XI. In the last half of July, a walkthrough detailing the transfer process will be posted on the PlayOnline website as well as the FAQ section of the Square Enix Support Center. This transfer will require you have a Square Enix Account. If you don’t already have a Square Enix Account, we strongly encourage you to create one in advance at https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/register. Customers who already have Square Enix Accounts need only complete the transfer process. We hope you’ll agree that this marks a significant step towards providing a more secure, user-friendly, and responsive experience. Source So just an FYI, make an SE account. Also it's about time. Finally ditching POL, sounds like a good thing, no?
Yup, I'm happy. It's about time that obsolete system was removed. It's going to cause anger with the Xbox and PS2 crowd though, I'd imagine.

Eh, I never minded POL and I actually used a few of its services that I don't think anyone did. Back then not every site had its own community features and sending emails through POL when I was 14 and grounded from the computer saved me more than once.
I read this last night so this isn't new news to me. I betting though, That SE, had to finish out there tenure or their contract with POL first, b4 going out on their own.
However, this is good news. It shouldn't effect Xbox, as the way I said it. PS2 users, will have problems. Dunno why, thought SE was under Sony blanket???? <shrugs>? Say goodbye windower for a while maybe?

The only issue I had with PoL was the fact that it takes so long to get to billing or anything. XIV is far superior in terms of account management, and I'm glad it's using the same system. I wonder how much/if this will effect windower.

What exactly does this do to anger us?... PoL is just annoying to have to go through anyways and seeing the same 3 advertisements at the bottom for the last 3+ years has gotten old XD Asura.Ina said: Shiva.Flionheart said: Yup, I'm happy. Cerberus.Dizzmal said: I wonder how much/if this will effect windower. I doubt it will at all. PoL will still be used to launch XI, but probably in a far less clunky way. Maybe just a simple "Play" button, kinda like XIV's launcher. Shiva.Flionheart said: Asura.Ina said: Shiva.Flionheart said: Yup, I'm happy. It's about time that obsolete system was removed. The only real issue i can think of is not all homes have their own computer (sounds weird to have access to the internet but no computer but it happens)... which meens they would need to find access unless they have some way to do it through the xbox or ps2. It's not a big issue to go to the library but still might be some rage from people XD And I'm gonna miss the interface, I actually changed my BGM and wallpaper on that.
But yeah good move is good. POL is old. about time rly, because POL is rly old and terrible account management to re-activating/paying and change account information, credit card information , getting on the game is annoying too, takes like 2 mins to get on the game because needs to pass all the POL stuff first
i dunno if im gonna be for this...only way i could get my cc to work would be to use that pol glitch to bypass that 3d secured stuff

I forsee people QQing about it when windower doesnt run because of it lol.
Just a thought... will this effect dual boxing at all since we will be loging in via SE accounts not PoL right?
I'm curious.. My brother doesn't want his account anymore (not that he's played it in the 18 months he's had it), but he doesn't know the ID/Password for it and it's being paid for by my card.
When they do this change, is it likely to force that account to be cancelled? >_> I assume the account won't be cancelled... just put on hold until you activate it.
i really hope you aren't going to have all the accounts original information on hand to perform the transfer
Id assume just the playonline ID, password and payment info.

Nah, it's normally a code you create when you use a card online for extra safety just in case someone has your card. |
