They're glorified attention ***.
No-one likes attention ***.
I'll laugh when they get arrested, I really will. Do they honestly think they'll consistently get away with this and then just get a slap on the wrist?

Because companies are really tight knit with any information they have. They should release all information they have to the internet in general and they would be caught pretty damn fast. There are plenty of hackers better qualified than them.
Also why are people not reporting them to twitter? Does twitter support hacking or what?
hrm i have no idea lol they have like 143k followers .-.
This is just dumb; I guess I get to play ffxi today instead of the couple hours of LOL my friends planned.

And they are DDosing, they just tweeted about how /b/ is a botnet to them. wonder if as time goes on this becomes more common and cyber wars happen :O
They fail to realise that it will kill the internet as they know it. I'm pretty sure they're from the UK.

You actually make a great point: they're only doing this for attention. Most (all?) of their ***is script kiddie SQL injections and the only reason they're popular is because they hide behind some Internet meme ***. Nice to see ASCII art make a return in their releases, though. It is only a matter of time before they step on the wrong toes. Will be fun to watch.
Even a 'wake up call' isn't justification for this... It's just a bunch of self-important script kiddies reveling in their 15 minutes of fame, this is probably the only thing they'll ever be able to organize themselves for, it's this same level of childishness and immaturity that net you those 30 year olds working in fast food and they can't even get your burger right.
Also, they're not hacking ***.. They're DDoSing, huge difference. Pretty much anything and everything is vulnerable to DDoSing. Refer back to this: Lakshmi.Jaerik said: Are these actual hacks or distributed denial of service attacks? A DDoS isn't a hack, it's just a button push. And it doesn't compromise "security" in any way. Fenrir.Vazerus said: This is just dumb; I guess I get to play ffxi today instead of the couple hours of LOL my friends planned. It's up and running now, not sure when it was down for the maint. but it wasn't long at all. Valefor.Slipispsycho said: Even a 'wake up call' isn't justification for this... Also, taking phonecalls on 614-LULZSEC right now. Even if the second part doesn't apply, the first part still does.
Asura.Catastrophe said: Part of this is kind of necessary, however. I mean, this is setting a standard for companies to keep better security with the information we provide them. If a group of people in their homes can access 70 million people's personal information, then that company deserves to have its reputation tarnished. Not that I support the actions of this group. It's not necessary. They've claimed many times this entire thing is to piss gamers off. They want to be the center of attention, seems pretty straight forward to me.
Quote: lulz ujelly umad I'M GETTING TROLLED HARD HERE. Asura.Catastrophe said: Then why access PBS.org? They misfired, they were actually aiming for the games here. Even though what they're doing is basic, if they feel invincible maybe throw them in federal prison to get hacked in the *** repeatedly by large men for the rest of their lives when they get caught. Might send a pretty clear message to hackers that if you do it you will eventually get pwned.
Asura.Dameshi said: I am curious though... what if you requested they hack themselves? It would create a rip in the space/time continuum. I'm willing to guess most of the break-ins are a result of leaked user information such as Sony's 70 million users on the PSN network. That includes usernames, email addresses, passwords, security question and answers. This information can be used, given time, to break into other email accounts, SSH/FTP servers, web applications. This can lead to the release of even more user information. Cycle continues.
As they clearly aren't just DDoS, if what they're doing is just "kiddie stuff", shouldn't people care about their private information being so easily accessed? All of you people wishing they were in jail are just annoyed because it's affecting you and are not looking at anything else.
Not saying what they're doing is justified or right, but they are doing it and causing problems for very big companies. Something about that isn't good. If you endanger peoples lives and livelihoods to make a point about the system not being safe you aren't a hero. What they are doing isn't with the plan of showing big business's they have flaws. It's a couple teenage s#*t heads who have too much free time and not enough common sense or life experience. The majority of the hacks taking place are done by people simply out of boredom and lack of decency. If we had stronger enforcement policies for these actions those occurrences would be much less frequent. If they really wanted to make a positive difference there are much better ways to go about it that wouldn't be screwing over the average family. CIA's webpage taken down about 10minutes ago
