I originally played MNK and WAR. Then, I heard the noise of a GK striking an enemy and I thought "wow, I want to play that job that has the nice striking sound". When I discovered it was SAM, I rushed for it, simply.

September 2004©

Scimitars sounded awesome to me back when I first joined. It's what made me want to try out blu.

Then I duo'd my whm with a blu friend and found out how fun it was.

Edit: Also *** Yes @ Rurouni Kenshin

It actually wasn't until this FF that I became all about BLU being my favorite. I loved the theme for it and eventually went back thru FF's and decided upon it. I used to be all about SMN as my favorite (not in 11 but FF in general)

Meh, to say SAM is a step up from RNG because of one red proc isn't much of an argument (at least to me). There are situations where you can't control when you can claim a mob (Yaanei/Turul are still camped quite often on my server) so if it falls under piercing RNG becomes much more useful.

if i was going for turul/yaanei hardcore, job choice wouldn't matter anyways since you'd be claiming immediately whenever (as you stated), which entails that you'd have someone swap their jerb after you found out the weakness

it's not like you'd have the sam stay sam if the weakness was archery/marksmanship, or vice-versa; exit and re-enter's hardly a concern, especially when you can cap azure off two ephemeral clionids

Shiva.Flionheart said:

even if you were, i'm honestly not even bothered; i mean, it sucks sam is honestly inferior these days, but oh well: life goes on, and i carry a hammer around now instead of a meat cleaver

Yeah I loved Quina but FF7 really didn't have "blue mage" focus per se.. it was just a materia for enemey skills.

Quina is the first char ever able to do 9999 dmg (can do in disc one with frog drop or limit glove). Limit glove is easy to do once you get auto-reraise but frog drop would take you forever to max at that stage of the game lol.

Zidane was kinda meh without Thievery, Steiner is a must use character. Vivi too if you have no healer.

I used Zidane, Vivi, Steiner and Amarant.

Amarant is a beast with No mercy and being able to recover MP for anyone and raise anyone.

Amarant is always really underrated.

Gau was so broken if you knew what rages were good. Stray Cat for instance >_>; 2k damage Cat Scratch straight from when you get him.

He was too unwieldy for me.

Same reason I didn't like Mog's dances.

Mog was a badass dragoon though.

Amarant is one of the most pointless characters in videogames history. Plotwise he's even more useless than Kimhari in X.

Do you really want me to list the character far more pointless than Amarant?

And really? Just because a character is stoic, that doesn't mean they're pointless. There was a pretty deep backstory behind Khimari.

All the characters bar Garnet, Zidane and Vivi were ultimately pointless in IX.

Amarant didn't even had a reason to be there. Freya at least was searching for her husband, Eiko was an abandoned, uberannoying child. Quina, well, was funny at the very least. Amarant had dreadlocks and beard which made him cool, but that's about it. Empy character, with empty story.
