And if they just quietly protested, kept their actions to themselves and did their time would anyone really hear about it?

That is the point ladies and gents, they have to spread the word for it to have any impact.

It's not rocket science, try and keep up please.
I've not once argued that what they're doing is ineffective.

The point is the law is stupid in the first place, and not even valid because its unconstitutional. We are (supposedly) not living in Nazi Germany or some kind of dictatorship.

It reminds me of how homosexual activity is still technically illegal in some states (and yes people have been arrested for it) because there was a law written 100 or some years ago and lawmakers somehow forgot to take it off the books.

They didn't forget to take it off the books, have you watched the news for the past couple of years? Have you not seen that the law is repeatedly challenged, repealed, reinstated, etc etc?

A stupid law is still a law. It doesn't matter if you agree with it, break it, be ready for the consequences.. This is probably why crime is as high as it is.. Not because 'people are desperate' but because they think just because they don't agree with it, or think it's unfair/stupid that it somehow doesn't apply anymore..

Someone kills/rapes/robs someone and the cops let them go, there is public outrage because 'the law isn't holding them accountable' then we have this.. People pissed off because the law is upheld..

Ridiculous.

If that's all you gathered from that post, it's probably a lost cause to try and make you understand what I just said..

But no.. I was pointing out that people get up in arms about the law being ignored, then will turn around and get pissed off when it is upheld..

You can't pick and choose what laws you want to follow or enforced.

I wouldn't be willing to lose my job over a law like that one.

Humanity? They'll probably spend one night in jail max, they're not being executed here or anything.

So you'd be willing to put your job, and livelihood on the line on the hunch that your boss wouldn't do anything?

Do you refuse tasks at your current job, just because you don't feel you should have to do them? Actually, let's put your job on the line and find out what happens.. Every time you feel it's not your responsibility or don't agree with what you're asked to do, refuse.. Tell the boss right to his face, no..

Let's see how far you get.

They would be risking losing their jobs, and at best would get suspended/docked pay. Especially if it was caught on video.

Edit: The right thing for them to do, if they opposed the law that much, would be to request being posted elsewhere.

In most modern societies, money is pretty important for life (food/shelter/medicine) unless you're just living off other people's charity.

It is when you have a family to support.. House payments, car payments, utility bills, food, schooling, etc etc.. You want to live on your friend's couch or a cardboard box on the street because you have a point to make, that's okay.. When you have a family depending on you, you can't just abandon everything on principle.. Contrary to all those crime shows and action movies, most cops have a family, it's not unreasonable to assume these did, stop demonizing them for doing their job. I hate dirty cops, I hate cops who use force when it's not necessary, these cops didn't use any undue force, they just did their job.

Hey maybe it's just me, but your kid shouldn't starve or wife be homeless because you had to make a point (which will likely fall on deaf ears anyways).. You have a job to do, if you can't do that job, they can sure as hell find someone else to do it, that will gladly do it.

And I'm saying how money directly contributes to things which keep you alive making it one of the if not the most important thing in life.

To every on here who said those people deserved it because they were breaking a rule, you make me sick. You are fine with obeying anything shoved in your face? We are supposed to be free, the reason they can keep taking our rights away is because people like all of you sit there and go "well its a rule, why didn't they follow the rule?" Just because it is a rule, doesn't make it right. Irrelevant of if you want to see someone kissing, its there right to do so. It is expression, it is freedom.

Do you honestly believe it's your right to behave any way you like anywhere? And yelling in libraries and similar behavior is "suppressing your rights and freedoms" when people kick you out?

anyway why do ppl care so much about what other ppl do in public?
i would understand that they care if it has an effect on them, but as the video showed it hasn't any on the ppl around them.
or did anyone of u saw in the video someone was getting hurt because the couple kissed?

Actually here, I'll go ahead and make it..

Why do we have rules? To keep people in line.. You want freedom? You think anarchy would provide that? Have you ever watched any post-apocalyptic movie where raping and pillaging is the most widely accepted common practice? Do you really want to go back to pre-14th century society? Whether you realize it or not, those laws are there for you, they keep society going, rather than collapsing.. People are always clamoring about freedom, but few even know what the word means..

When most people who are complaining about some law, talk about freedom, they mean freedom to do what they want.. Yes rights are slowly stripped away, and there are even times when I disagree with it, in fact I'm very adamant about preserving freedoms, but when I talk about 'freedom' I'm more or less talking about freedom to do what I want to myself/on my own property, which unless these people own the Jefferson Memorial, doesn't apply here.

You want freedom? Go visit some of the most war torn countries of the globe, you will see 'freedom', here's the problem, you don't realize what freedom means.. Freedom means someone can walk in your house, rape your grandmother, kill your dog, take your food and walk out with nothing but vigilante justice to retaliate with, and guess what, those people that just walked in your door likely have more numbers and bigger guns..

Oh and guess what, there is no such thing as freedom, there's always going to be some other gang, some other person trying to limit what you do/say.. There's just varying degrees of control.. Even if there was no government of policing force, there would still be someone there to challenge you.. You may fight off one or two, but eventually you will fall in line or be silenced (killed).. Even if you were at the top of everyone, there would be others to challenge you, you're still not free.. Freedom is a myth.

You don't want freedom, you just want the law to not apply to you. You know what makes me sick? People who complain there's no freedom when they don't even understand what the word means.
