Class To Jobs

I put Pirate/Corsair under MRD based on the lore FF14 put forth for that Class. Opening sceen for LL shows a MRD wielding a pistol, they got the whole pirate ship thing going & their attire throughout the cs relating to MRD screams Pirate/Corsair/Buccaneer. Also the very definition of Marauder includes "To Roam about & raid in persute of plunder". If all that doesnt point to pirate iunno what does XP.
As for a beastmaster type job being under ARC, well I dont have as much to support that as I do with Corsair from MRD XP. I was thinking ARC is closely related to hunting/hunter/ranger & to become a great hunter one has to become one with nature or more familiar with it. Being one with nature can lead to working together with nature/beasts/animals. My 2 cents anyways lol.

Arcanist and Musketeer are going to be classes, not jobs. Their guilds are already in the game and all the skills and some equipment already exist for both jobs. So there will be at the very least 2 more classes... Likely to be more once ishgard comes out.. Probably some sort of advanced classes like in 11, where you can only get access to them by doing quests.
I find it highly unlikely that a job will use a different weapon than their class uses though... So any gladiator, be they a paladin, warrior, whatever job, would still use gladiator weapons. The job system seems like its just meant to add to the latent potential of the job by giving them access to new skills and by increasing the effectiveness of certain others while blocking the use of more. In other words, your gladiator would always wield a sword, probably... No matter what job they use. Though, one job may let them use two swords instead of a sword and shield, since almost all champions of the Colosseum were given two swords.
Point above, in more plain and simple words:
Class = what weapon and armor you use, and your base skills.
Job = specialized skills to aid in the use of party situations. They make you better at one thing while worse at others.
And, I understand corsair being under MRD because its a pirate themed class, but at the same time, marauding is typically used to refer to ground-based pillaging. I.E. destroying villages, while pirates are typically nautical, but do the same things.. Just on ships. The fact that SE chose to use marauder as a name for the class is kinda vague, but i dont think they intend for them all to be pirates. Otherwise, they'd probably have a more fitting name. One example is the fact there are many marauders found in the story and lore who have nothing at all to do with piracy.

Filtiarne said: So the ability to shoot a gun warrants saying dark knight is coming to the game? I think not. Specific details on all those jobs listed or this argument is still invalid. The gun could go in the ranged slot for a marauder in place of grenade arm or something. I'm talking class specific names. I cannot stand people like you.

Nope :P my OP was just for fun. Some of the names of "Classes" that I used in my speculation for creating "Jobs" where pulled from back when the original dev team was still in control along with some of the .dat that where posted along the way in this thread, so who knows if any of that was held onto by the new dev team.
Heres something I guess? I don't know how legit this is, but it was posted on Loadstone ^^ a Japanese to English translation of the new dev team confirming some names of the "Jobs". Paladin, White Mage, Black Mage, Dragon Knight/Dragoon, Bard & Monk. This is all I've come across so far on anything "Job" related.

Was just sitting here thinking about the Job announcement & made this list for fun. I have high hopes for whatever they come up with. Getting rid of Physical lvl is fine by me, but I just really hope that I don't have to cap a certain Class before I can reach optimal status on any of my Jobs. If I do I'm hoping once you unlock and start leveing a job the matching Class levels along side it at a lower rate at least.
Making the game more challenging & jobs with more precise roles was a big + for me. Any thoughts?
