So what is the purpose of this plugin? What does it do?
Shows stuff that is actually loaded client-side but marked as "hidden" so not normally shown to players?
Clearly it can't do anything server side, right?

IE trade them assault books without doing the assault. The only real use for it these days. It's been used for more interesting things over the years, but they're all/mostly patched out. much too late now, but isn't this kind of thing against the rules here? I'm a bit surprised people are just finding out about it now given how long ago it was made, but also that no one is asking to have the topic closed.
Because it's antiquated. Just a novelty in 2025.
yeah technically the rules just say "anything that rises to the level of bot", so I guess that opens the door pretty wide.
When the thread was made, it was asking "does this still work", because something changed server side and it stopped working for that usecase. Those who knew what to do with it knew how it worked. No one asked where to get it, how to use it, what does it do, etc etc. And then normies and casuals came along needing an entire encyclopedia of how to do it and they broke the first rule of fight club.
Theres a *** reason gatekeeping is a thing. If the one modern practical use for ASE gets patched in the next few months after being a workable exploit for the last decade and a half, I'll have no qualms citing the attention this thread is generating for putting it on the radar. I agree Nynja, and I think having forum rules in place serve that gatekeeping purpose. That's why I was surprised to see the topic go the route it did.
All told doing all 50 assaults with ASE and pos warping directly to the rune in every one vs. doing all 50 completely legit is only saving you at most 3-4 hours because you still are waiting on tags every 10 minutes no matter what. If that amount of time save is worth the risk to you, have at it. @billnes your original question was in another thread asking if there was something to help you clear assaults. ASE will NOT do what you are looking for. If you are having trouble clearing an assault for the very first time, you're going to have to ask other players for help. Of course it's *** Billnes... you see why my server wants nothing to do with him? He is so *** stupid...

If you think it takes 4 hours to do all 50 assaults completely legit then you've been using ASE for too long. That's an average of 5 minutes per assault, there's absolutely no way that's even remotely true. The easiest assaults in the entire game probably take 5 minutes, all in. Some take 15-20 minutes, some are closer to 30. Carbuncle.Maletaru said: » If you think it takes 4 hours to do all 50 assaults completely legit then you've been using ASE for too long. Some take 15-20 minutes, some are closer to 30. I did the assault legit a few years ago (because it was my first mythic) and it took me days, actually. Even failed a few of them multiple multiple multiple times and ended up teaming up with other players. I said it saved you 3-4 hours, but it was just a guess. Haven't made a mythic in quite some time.
A very quick onceover on time estimates.
Leuj: 10, 5~50 (*** this assault, calling it 25), 15, 2, 5, 2, 3, 10, 2, 1 = 75 MMJ: 20, 8, 3, 5, 1, 4, 15, 5, 7ish, 1 = 69nice Leb: 20, 25, 8, 15, 2, 5, 10, 20, 2 (only because its howls induce a -100% DT, and it howls often) = 107 Peri: 15, 10, 10, 3, 20, 10, 2, 15, 5, 1 = 91 IA: 3~25 (I'll say 10), 3, 8, 3, 20, 10 , 20ish, 2, 20, 1 = 97 I did presume a quick exit wherever possible, any assault that lets you finish early with clear (ie counting sheep). This isnt maxing points, its quickest to pop Rune. I got over 7 hours. Thats just within the assault, as travel is generally the same. ASE a bit quicker since you can warp and go right back to whitegate, saving some travel and zone time. Yes, the legit player can trade book and warp, but if you're gonna do the assault legit, at that point you might as well collect the points. I just threw together some estimates of how long you spend (in the assault room) for each assault. Add ~3 minutes to this for each assault to go get the tags, teleporting, in cutscenes, in menus, etc. and you should have a decent estimate of how long it takes to do assaults (~11 hours?). I assumed a solo player with very good knowledge of the assaults, an appropriate job, move speed, etc. I think I was a bit generous with most of them, though some may be a bit high.

Carbuncle.Nynja said: » What the *** devil incarnation possessed you to break down the assault list alphabetically??????????? I copy/pasted the list from the wiki and it was a mess, had to sort it by something to clear out the mess and it didn't list zone in the data (because zones are implied since they're in separate charts on the wiki). Still easier to interpret than trying to remember which assault is mamool #6.
well now that that's settled, sorry for the poor time estimate. maybe that more accurate number validates using ASE for some people making all the mythics, who knows
Jesus christ people stop being nerd sniped.
I've pointed it out a million times in a million threads, but will continue to do so every time this kind of thing gets brought up, sorry not sorry.
People who use tools underestimate the impact 9 times out of 10. Whether it's because they're so disconnected from the actual experience of playing ffxi, they're trying to downplay for their own cope, for outside observers, or any other motivation, your guess is as good as mine. I don't particularly care about the reasoning, but I think it's important to dispel this misinformation. IDGAF if you use ASE, just like I don't care if you use gearswap, superwarp, eat takos, ask your mules for cures, please, or do anything else with your characters. I think it's still important to understand and recognize how much advantage you're getting from it though and will continue pointing out ignorant ***when I see it. If you want to see fewer walls of rants, you should make fewer ignorant statements about TPP. Not necessarily disagreeing but some of those are somewhat random and the amount of time they take may vary. L&F could take 2 minutes or you could time out looking for the dumb thing and have to go again. There are several like that and some of them will impact the amount of time required pretty significantly
Personally I find most of the assaults an interesting break from other content and somewhat innovative but a handful of them are just irritating, like L&F and that dumb one with the Lamias playing tag It was a bad estimate, and more accurate ones were provided. That should be the end of it really. You volunteered your own assumptions about someone's justification for using tools, which indicates you do care. You wouldn't type "walls of rants" if you didn't.
I have changed my opinion on some tools because of opinions from people on this site including you. It does do good to have a reality check sometimes. It's not like I'm trying to defend ASE either really, would be a dumb hill to die on. I was more interested in how the line is drawn between what is ok and not ok to discuss here on the forums, and was just giving my opinion there until I realized the person who bumped this wanted an actual "I win" button for assaults. Kaffy said: » You volunteered your own assumptions about someone's justification for using tools, which indicates you do care. You may want to take another pass at what I said, because I didn't say anything about justification at all. Speaking generally here, not just Kaffy but the general "you." I don't care: If you use any third party programs Why you choose to use them Why you choose not to use others How you choose to play the game I do care: If you are incorrectly estimating the advantages provided by your programs If you are telling others about how unimpactful things are If you tell people how vanilla and modded ffxi are basically just the same with minor QOL improvements I don't care: Why you do any of the above Where you got these beliefs I think you'll see that this is very consistent with all my posts, including the one above. If people come to this post and see they can save 10 hours on a mythic by skipping assaults using ASE, that's fine, I truly don't care if everyone on the planet other than me uses ASE. I'd just prefer that they were aware they're gaining 10 hours of time using it, not thinking they're saving 3. If people come to the forums and see what gearswap can do and all the advantages it has over in game macros and choose to use it, I'm totally fine with it. If someone gets the impression that it's the exact same as in-game macros but with a lua file instead, I'm gonna point out how incredibly, incredibly wrong that is. That's it. That's all it is. There's nothing more to it. Asura.Iamaman said: » Not necessarily disagreeing but some of those are somewhat random and the amount of time they take may vary. There are several like that and some of them will impact the amount of time required pretty significantly First off thanks, for some reason I mixed up L&F with the golden salvage so i underestimated L&F. In my opinion it's the worst assault in terms of respecting your time and skill. Orichalcum survey gives it a run for its money too. There's definitely a bit of randomness to a few like those, Azure ailments, the Agent rescue, switches, sheep, and a few others. For my estimates I just assumed average luck. Sometimes it will take longer, sometimes you'll get it right away. On average, I'd say this is what you can expect. I definitely agree with you on the assaults too, I think they're an engaging break from standard ffxi gameplay, though they do get old after you've done them x number of times. I don't think if content is boring that warrants modding it out of the game, but you do you, boo. Plenty of people bot magian trials because they're boring as ***, I get it. Just be careful saying you saved 2 hours skipping burtgang trials or I'm gonna start caring about your nonsense. I'd rather do L&F for 3 hours than do Burt trials again. Ugh that was so bad. The number of times I had a mob left at 1% was way too damn high.
Asura.Iamaman said: » I find most of the assaults an interesting break from other content and somewhat innovative ![]() If you could go into Master Trials and use an addon to insta kill the boss it would not be that much different than what is going on with this addon today, they really should patch it. It's not even hard to patch, just add another trade result if you haven't finished the assault.
This is as bad as you can get with cheating in an online game. It's only useful for after you finish them legit, for mythic books. It's to skip horrible assaults we've all done 500 times over. I feel like something like knockblock is more like cheating than this
