Currently running Windows 7 64-bit operating system and have tried a countless number of times to find effective guides/drivers to work for me.

If anyone knows of one that is currently working for them, would you be so kind to steer me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Book

Both of you take that ***elsewhere..

Okay, first you're going to need disable driver signing.. There are programs for it.. This is one.. It doesn't really matter how you arrive at it in the end though. (need to restart after using that program or using any other method to turn them off that isn't done durring start up, there's also a way via F8 key) Next you need Motionjoy (someone already posted the link) beyond that, get ready for tons of restarts, it's very 'iffy'.. You're going to have to keep playing with settings in motion joy until you finally get it recognize there is a controller connected, I have personally witnessed how iffy this is, I have used it on a clean install 4 separate times, and nothing was the same ever..

Once you get it to recognize there's a controller, then you need to calibrate it (through control panel, I'm sure you know how)..

Sometimes a game won't want to recognize this at all, so you can use this in most cases.

Note: Motionjoy will NEVER work on 64x Windows 7 without driver enforcement off, that is the absolute first step... the link I provided will shut it down, until you turn it back on, but that can also mess with other programs (not critical ones, windows will work absolutely fine) so you may find you have to switch back and fourth, but be prepared, once you restart, you start the entire process over, leaving everything the same, but just shutting it down, the controller will very likely be a pain in the *** to get to work again..

It WILL work, but you're going to do a lot of fiddling to get it to work.

You can also disable driver signing on startup by pressing f8 and choosing to disable it.

Oh as for this fanboy controller ***... The both of you look stupid..

Using what you got is fine, but as far as PC gaming with controllers is concerned, you can get much, much nicer controllers for the same price. Yep, got a secret for you, if you bought an Xbox controller solely for PC gaming, you paid way more than you should have.

Or just use a KB&M for 95% of the games as it works better lol.

Well, I got it to work, except on PS2 the macro pallets are L2 and R2, and those buttons don't seem to have a response. Anyone know why?

I use it on RPG's or emulated games really. I'm not a fan of the 360 controller anyway, I find the triggers really plasticky.

Use the option "analog gamepad 1 (POV, Joysticks)". I guess its because the ps3 l2+r2 buttons work like joysticks and not like on/off buttons on the ps2 controllers

This only works for 32 bit systems. It's the best to use.

Use Motionjoy if you have a 64 bit.

Try out a PS3 controller, then switch it out with a Logitech. You'll be wanting to throw the Logitech away. It's horrible. Waaaay too stiff.

I got motioninjoy to work without disabling driver signing, also got it to work with the r2/l2 as buttons instead of axis, and after that with a bluetooth dongle wireless

as for logitech, I enjoy their products but I have 3 of their controllers and 2 of them are dead.

Ummm yes they do some overheat or just stop working altogether. My Launch PS3 basically just sat there once i got a BlueRay Home theater and Laptop, but i got bored so put a 250GB Hdd this past thursday. Now it just needs better games because anything online multiplayer is better on the 360 because of XBL.I paid $600 for amy 60GB PS3 at launch...what a waste or money.I know at least 4 people who had their PS3 die or malfunction.

As for the PS3 controller a company called Immersion released a PS3 type controller for FFXIV that works on PC.It's basically a PS3 controller with over sized grips.

The PS3 doesn't have nearly the same fail rate as the XBOX360. If the PSN didn't suck suck hard *** and if Micro$oft didn't buy every contract under the sun for third party titles, Playstation would be the superior console.

Also, the latest version of MotionInJoy is officially signed by Microsoft, so you don't have to disable driver signing anymore. Works like a charm and I only had to buy a USB bluetooth adapter for 2 bucks.

can someone help me out, im trying to get my ps3 controller to work on xp 64-bit, but its not working right. the buttons are not in the right order, which i assume can be changed in the options command next to the ps3 controller on the profile page, but the main problem is that the analogs dont work. the d-pad moves me, which isnt how i want it, but the l3 and r3 buttons both work right, so what is causing the analogs themself to not move me and rotate the camera?

There are different modes for the controller, you probably have the bubble next to "Playstation 1 (DPad,withoutjoystick)" selected. Try the PS2 settings or the PS3 setting.

To get a PS3 controller config for my computer FF11 playing I bought a Frisby brand PC controller for 10 bucks and configured it to FF11 controlls. I realize the OP asks about setting up ps3 controller in specific, but the Frisby controller has the same buttons in the same parts but it is a USB connected controller. If you downloaded FF11 through Steam then you can change the config in steam for your game controller to match the ps2 button config. If you didn't download through Steam than you can change the buttons by clicking Start in windows, find FF11, and click FF11 config and change the controller settings there.

I hope this helps at all.

This is the one I've used (or some variation of it) since I started playing years ago. I personally like it, wouldn't play the game without one.

~ 20 bucks at Target, Best Buy, etc., never had any real issues out of them, aside from the occasional replacing them due to regular wear and tear.

Do you have the options set to the right buttons? Try setting it to PS2 with analog and see if that works.

You gotta select Playstayion 3 then press enable where the arrow is showing. Gotta do this every time you restart the computer if you leave the controller plugin 24/7

When you click the options link next to Playstation3 you should set up the buttons to something similar to this, but you don't need to set it up exactly like this:

i got it working eventually. it wouldnt work on the ps3 option, but the ps2(pov,joysticks) option worked, everything thing is good now. im so happy someone posted this as ive been looking for a while to find a way to use a ps3 controller on pc with xp 64-bit.
