Sony doesn't make 3D remakes of games for PSP xD All games that I know that have been remade from old PS1 games are all just re-polished with added content, like FFT: War of the Lions, Disgaea 1/2, etc.

Even the GBA version causes less strain on the eyes then the DS counter part. But you can really see how much detail gets put into each release. While the 3D models for the NDS look very awkward.

Squeenix does add ridiculously sexy cutscenes though to PSP remakes, which I'm sure you wouldn't mind.
Take Dissidia for instance:

Uh... what? What is more detailed about the first three compared to the last? The fat mob is inflicted with some effect which is why they are a diff color.

Cutscenes, yes, the opening cinematic for FFIV on the DS was beautiful.


If you can't see any visual difference between those pictures then I don't know what to say.

The level of detail on each enemy so far is amazing. It's not boxy or pixelated in the least. Sprite design is similar in its own right. The NDS version ends up seeming like a cluster *** in battle. The NDS resolution is part of the problem though.

Seriously what in the name of blue balls are nostalgia glasses even supposed to be? Coining terms that stupid deserves a prize of some sort. You're still ignoring the fact that it doesn't have to do at all with nostalgia in some, if not most, cases.

Dude I'm almost there I'll let you know how the PSP Art looks. Also I'm having some lag issues during fog/sunlight. Though it might just be my clock speed.

I played the original for SNES and the DS version. I liked both of them. I thought the voice acting on the DS was better than most of the newer FF's, hahaha. The 3d didnt bother me at all, I'm pretty easily content. It was great to see the cutscenes and relieve all my favorite parts again from a somewhat different perspective.

That being said, it is by far my favorite FF game and nothing will beat the original for the SNES for me (nostalgia glasses, I know Draylo). Graphics and 3d dont make the game new game better/superior to me. SNES FF graphics were awesome when it came out.
The horrible translation and quirky things did. Though they left "you spoony bard" in all remakes cause of how funny it was, they took out a lot of the other poorly translated thing.

I'm so much a fanboy of the game that I was reciting the lines before they happened as I was playing and got disappointed when they weren't like the original. FF2/4 SNES > FF4 DS for me though I did enjoy both.

My opinion and I respect everyone elses. Take it or leave it I guess...

It's nice having somebody civil too exchange opinions with. Also i fixed the lag. I had it set to default 333 runs fine :)

So happy to hear of all the other FF4 lovers out there. I've only one time in my life got to geek out with someone about FF4, though he favored FF6 chatter.

FF4 is a ***game. Horrible script, terrible cliche story etc. I was only arguing the obvious though, DS is superior.

I am definitley your geek then!! I liked 6 too, but there's somethign about FF2/4. I was 10 when it came out in 1991 and I remember getting that and the SNES for Xmas and freaking out. Me and my old man stayed up till 5am playing the game that night. Though it pretty much leads you through the game, at 10, I struggled a bit. So I was the "button pusher" and my dad was the "thinker". I then went on to replay and beat the game 344,235,238 more times.

i was happy to play the NDS version of one of my favorite final fantasy episode ( with FFVI )
but i admit some problems bug me with NDS version

- the CS intro scene with tsuki no akari theme was cool
- it was great to see all the new cs in game and see story from another point of view

BUT

---

- I dont like the main new design for the characters, especially tellah he lost a lot of his charism in the NDS version and his voice acting is crappy.
rydia and yang design could have been better too
- sometime the voice acting is good but sometime it lacks a lot of emotion
- in fact they didnt manage to remake the best emotion from the original
- i dont like all the new features they put in the nds version aka the augment system (it was cool in first glance but destroyed the game balance)
- the battle speed is rather slow too, and fight are less dynamics
- the 3D graphics dont bring something new to the game mecanism or to the gameplay


my conclusion is that the nds is a good game for newbies and new generation that wanted to try FFIV but i was waiting for something FAR more BETTER for a remake of a game that i loved so much

better graphics, less childish
better music, less bip bip and midi
better voice acting
more dynamic fight
more emotion and better cs : they rarely did a cs as i was imagining it when i did the original game in 1992
more new dungeons.


draylo call it superior of whatever but FFIV needed a better remake than that

and yes FFIV is one of the best FF ever , good story : simple but good characters : cecil, kain, rosa, rydia etc = my favorite roster in a FF, emotion, very poetic, good musics.
