"JP Only"

One minor point, I dunno if this was changed at one point or what not, but the current client definitely doesn't require you to write out the entire phrase to use auto translate.

Another thing though is the natural spacing (or lack of) in Japanese just makes auto translate text rather annoying to read compared to western languages.

I speak Japanese and use the Japanese XIV client a good amount of the time I play, and I can tell you for a fact that using auto-translate does not at all require you to type out the full phrase.

A good example of Japanese players using auto-trans to shorten typing times is (Nald'thal, the Traders) or (Nald'thal's Ward)

If you type なる[na ru]in Japanese and hit tab, the first thing that comes up is (ナルザルの加護)

ナル of course being shorthand for なるほど, "I See."

Several times I played it off like I was actually JP, and was never kicked, but the moment I say.... "No I'm not Japanese, I have just studied Japanese for a while now, so we can communicate," they go sorry, you need to leave.

Personally I think it's a load of S@$%, I know if JP wanted to be in a party with me I'd never kick em, even if they didn't study English. And the "Every race has their @ssholes isnt all that valid when, 95% of the time I join a JP PT and tell em... well no I'm not JP, they kick me. That would mean the vast population of Japanese players are @ssholes. I know a few nice ones, but it's no where near the number of JP who kick due to discrimination.

Well I wouldnt know I'm not American, or kick peeps out of "NA" only PTs, but I suppose. Either way I'm not like that :(

My point is, if the person is able to communicate with you, and is obviously doing that they are supposed to do and well, there is no reason to kick em from a party due to ethnic/cultural reasons. That is straight out racist. NA players from my experience have been D-bags... like Skarwind said "elitist" Yea, those are the @ss holes, they swear everything has to be just as they want it or KICK. Yea, thats pretty annoying too, but JP kick people simply because they not JP, not even because you can't speak their language.... BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT OF THE SAME ETHNIC RACE / CULTURE.... I mean really? If thats not racism... Idk what is....

You'd think some people would learn that it's a cultural/social thing more then anything else. I guess some people just don't want to accept that Japan is a xenophobic country. i might have the little *** syndrome too then, but i guess its my own problem :p
When i started playing FFXI i could not speak one word of english, i learnt it while playing, & everyday as i was playing people would correct me if i was wrong, in a good "or in a bad way for somes ***".

I also learnt JP "a little" that way, even tho, for that i needed to buy books & with the friendship of somes really nice Japaneses persons, i could come to the point of speaking a fluent JP.

What Izey say is right in more than 50% of the cases, for my concern, that day i had been kicked/asked to leave from 6 different party(s), just because i wasn't JP even tho i was talking to them with their own langage.

Actually it is quite sad that from what i could understand they still have this behavior/mentality in game after what happened.


Also, its not only about N/A & JP, somes others ppl from others country play that game :S

FYI, I rarely watch a dam ANIME, and I genuinly study Japanese at college, I know a lot more than "Hi, Bye and f@#$% you" in Japanese troll. I don't what you have to say about "This culture is that way," if Germans were still chronic Jew killers, lets hear you say... well... thats just how the culture is. And when was the last time you had to run a grammar/Spell check for what you write online for a Video game forum. If your not gonna make a valid point, hop off, and stop s@#$ing me thnx.

As a fellow player from Wutai, I seriously don't see JP doing this on our server. Everyone seems to get a long just fine :X at least from what I can see.

In contrast I have seen this problem much more prevalent when I was still playing FFXI on fenrir.

Like everywhere , there are morrons and good pples but maybe more morrons in your server. Rabanastre japanese pple are quiet cool. Some dont speak any english but we can still understand each other a little.

Maybe the guys that kicked u have already been kicked by an english before , so he does the same thing with you. And you will do the same thing with the next japanese u'll meet. Its an endless cycle of stupidity and unrespect so dont need to focus on Japanese pple but rather on human being.

Basically... if I we're to join 10 JP PT's in 1day
9/10 times I'll be kicked for saying Hi in English, or saying in Japanese... no I'm not from Japan, I just learned Japanese.

I would never kick a JP from my party, so I wont toss myself in that cycle.

But any who, it was it was. And it can't be helped. Perhaps I should move to a nicer server.

Izey, you do realize that coming on here and bashing Japanese players for kicking you will only make us, them and everyone else kick you. I, personally, would kick you now just because of your racism.

Now ppl shall not consider this thread as a massive QQ thread nor as a racist thread.

The problem come from the fact that on one hand this game doesn't look very attractive to a lot of players due to lots of lacks & on the other hand you have somes players "which are the most active depending the servers" & who doesn't help the game to be appealing.

For my personal case/my server:
I'm from EU, & during EU time there is nothing going on. If i log by lunch time, which is JP time peak i'll see lots of PT going on, problem is, like alot of us, i work & can log by 630PM where nothing happen, so only way for me to rank up DoM/DoW is to PT in JPT if they let me.

Or so going to solo 4 Guildleves & wait for 8h, not everyone love to spend nearly 2h crafting to grind 15k exp on Armorer or Weaver you see ?

lol seriously? Izey, you used a generalization and essentially said "JP SUCK!" because you got kicked out of a JP party. Many NA and EU people do the same thing to other languages. Would it be fair to you if someone said that your country was horrible JUST because someone from your country was a major ***? Of course it wouldn't. What you did here was show that you aren't tolerant at all towards other countries. There are bad apples in every country and there are even those that just don't want to play with people of a different language. I, personally, do not like playing with people who only speak Spanish. This doesn't mean that I think that ALL Spanish speaking people are arrogant, ignorant or anything else. You make the point of Freedom of Speech. Go up to the President and tell him that you want to kill him. Let's see how fast you can exclaim this "Freedom" before you get gunned down. And Like I said, I donate to Japan because of what happened, I tutor Japanese Foreign students FOR FREE, and I spent 2 years studying Japanese in College, to get spat in the face after all that just because I am not of the same cultural is highly disturbing and very irritating. At no point did I generalize the people of Japan, and FYI its not a party its 9/10 parties, and as a ball park estimate... I've joined at least 40 parties, and about 34 of which we're JP and 29/34 times I get kicked because I am not of Japanese culturally, but I can none the less communicate with them is JUST RACIST, ARROGANT, and Unfair.

I know only 2 JP in the time I've played this game who have partied with me, and even crafted items with me and helped me do leves, but thats 2 people out of hundreds who at like @ss holes to people just because we arent of the same race, regardless of the language. If you want me to give you a gross generalization, why is it that everytime I speak to one of my Japanese students and ask em, "how do you like Japan? I really want to visit, do you like it better?"

The same answer I get is this.

"The only reason I like Japan is because I was born there, and my family is there, if I have the oppertunity I will leave and not come back, the Japanese are very closed minded, you always have to do as your boss says, you dont get opinion, and you cant talk back."

And even get me started about what the Japanese women say about Japan, they've made it pretty dam clear that it's not as pretty there as I pretended it to be in my mind, and your just adding to pool of ignorant closed minded people.

Like I said, it has nothing to do with language, I will gladly play with people I CANT communicate with, for the sake of common courtesy. I can understand Japanese and speak Japanese well enough to communicate in the game, and even then they refuse to party with me ? There is no way thats a good thing.

You want to call me a racist and say how I'm generalizing all Japanese into 1, well eat that, now you can. And it's not even my idea, or what I think of Japan, its what your own people say about your country.

You are still implying that I'm not a US citizen and that I was born and raised in Japan, which I wasn't. Yes, US citizens are worse off. Japan was struck by a natural disaster. At least the Japanese politicians aren't destroying the country, unlike in the USA.

@ Izey: Read my above statement first. Second, every country has people that say horrible things about it. Third, learn basic grammar and spelling, please. Sometimes, it gets hard to make out the point that you are trying to get across. Lastly, it's not racist for them to not want to play with you. Again, I don't want to play with people who speak Spanish, but that doesn't make me racist. I just don't like playing with people that can't properly speak a language that I'm familiar with because, more often than not, there will be a communication problem which will lead to problems within the party.

Simple put, if you don't like the fact that these servers harbor different nationalities and the "discrimination" that comes with it, go play a different game. People had this same problem in FFXI, even though I never did, and those people either dealt with it or they left the game. It's that simple.
