ISPs are a lot like phone companies these days. You always have to go with the lesser of (however many) evils. Cox is pretty good in speed, but at least in my local region/neighborhood, the connection seems... intermittent at best, and it's extremely frustrating.

Can't be any worse than Comcast. Like seriously I had to call them out every month for a year or more, eventually they just threw their hands up in the air and said "you're SOL".. Well not literally but they might as well of...

<_< I wanted to blow the place up. It's your service and you have a van full of fancy tools and gadgets... Figure out the problem and fix it goddamnit.

Had Time Warner before Comcast took over in this area. Time Warner was great for us.. Was reliable and I never really had a problem.. We didn't start having problems with our internet until Comcast took over.

Ours used to be so anytime someone called our house the connection would drop, regardless of if we answered or not XD

Oh it's not connection reliability that makes Time Warner awful, it's their EULA that makes me want to start slashing my wrists.

Carpet.. We have hardwood floors too and I hate them as well. The only time they're 'better' is when something wet/gooey gets spilled.
