Should have been a matter of just pulling the little plastic jumper out of the back and plugging it into the "Slave" slot instead of the "Master" one.
I meant to say something about that earlier but I got distracted.
Gonna try Jet's idea since I can boot from a flash drive too, see what happens from there. <_<

yeah you can make hirens into a bootable USB
I have 2 and a cd, the thing even has plop boot manager on it, which is usefull in cd form

I tried installing XP via usb boot method, had more issues than trying with 7 :x

Here's the thing, a while back I was trying to save all my mom's files and give her a new HDD, I did the exact same thing as today, but it just wouldn't boot, at all.. I take the drive out, it'd boot fine, but when that secondary was in there, it wouldn't.. The drive itself was good, and the computer was booting from the correct HDD..
Oh well, doesn't matter anymore, it worked, she's getting her stuff off, all is okay.

I've attempted to install from booting from hirens, but I haven't seen a way to mount an image in mini-xp. However you can Install 7 just from the folder, you don't need it to be bootable, so you can just dump the 7 files into the root of the folder and access it while booting from hirens, on another note: you can install XP after and use easybcd to fiddle with the bootloader but it takes fiddling.
you can change your 7 disc by removing 1 file to make it any 7 version.
