Cats are masters of deceit. They are the most sadistic of any household pet, have absolutely no value in terms of practicality (can't take them for walks, can't guard a home etc) yet they rule our hearts with damn cute shenanigans! Hmm, installed skyrim, first time it set quality to High, ran it... made my PC shut off, second time, set to medium, still shut off, probably will do it at low so not bothering with it.
so far that makes it that arkham city and skyrim won't play at all, crysis played (or seemed to play fine for the 10 minutes I played) on very high fine, 3Dmark benchmark ran through it's paces and ran fine.
I'm quite confused now lol.

this is a fresh install lol, I'm now wondering if there is something up with my PSU or something my PC tech guy took my card and ran it on his system (might be a little better but his PSU is actually smaller!) and he said it ran smooth.
I can only think of a couple things that would cause it. 1) The RAM isn't seated right. Maybe you knocked one lose. 2) Power source is inadequate even though it should have barely enough power. 3) a leprechaun is jinxing your system.

ah sonofa.... I knew I was hearing things :<
RAM is fine, we did a test on it through the BIOS (I think? wasn't paying much attention lol) PSU should be fine, he said he ran the numbers for my whole system and I should be fine (said it clocked in at like 480w for my system? I have a 650w) I'll probably end up getting a new PSU anyway since this one is kinda old (from '08)

should be yeah, when I changed the card I blew everything out (carefully lol) I always have a can of compressed air close by lol)

I press start game, it says 'Bethesda presents' then fades to where the starting cutscene (or um .. the wagon scene lol) then shuts off.
so maybe 15 seconds in?
