People tend to cling to their own devices of interest. So in a way it's not too surprising that many are unwilling to branch out to what is essentially a stalking tool or a megaphone of useless and redundant information. I only use the forums cause the people are awesome, the posted content is good (based on the thread), and part of me clings to my former love of FFXI. It really is a home away from home. I also use tumblr but just for the sake of discovering and regurgitating other awesome content.

I just found it funny when I made the connection. I used to just read the FFXI-related threads when I was more interested in playing, gear sets, strategies, etc. And you'd see everyone laugh when someone would say Facebook.
Then I lost interest in playing, started reading the social stuff, and suddenly saying Facebook was socially acceptable again.
(There are crossover posters, of course, who post in both equally.)
I still don't know if I'm trying to make a point. I'm really tired and I think I just wanted a reason to type.

I just checked where it is and it's like an hour away (says it's in Orlando FL right now, I'm like 45 minutes from there) still says it's going to get here on the 31st.... what the *** is it doing for a day and a half then? sitting there...?

Also, I dunno what it's like in Americaland, but in Britland, company drivers are only allowed to drive for a certain amount of time a day, then they have to have mandatory breaks, so that may affect it.
Could also be handed off to a depot to be given to another driver to take to you.

I've never done clubs, because I'm from a small town. I've never been one to go out, but I've found that (once your friends are old enough) bars are the way to go. You're basically just hanging out, and you can play pool/darts/whatever they offer. Makes for an easy way to socialize, even if you're not very outgoing (like me!).
You could also try something like a sports bar (Buffalo Wild Wings, Rooster's, um... I don't know what's outside the midwest) on a night when there's some big sports event going on... Your friends couldn't sit at the bar area, but you could still get tables and find opportunities to meet other people.
