God if i won the powerball...I'd for one put it in the bank and live off the interest and save it all for my kids, then use my part of the money to pursue a doctorate in computer sciences. After that I would get a two story house in a suburban area, keep my status as a lottery winner under wraps as I lived comfortably going to work knowing I'd never have any problem with money and that my life was going to be nice and smooth.
Also I'd give a big chunk to mom and dad, they really deserve a retirement and to do whatever they want...

You do realize that the interest of $558 million (assuming you won and took the cash option) alone would be ~$6 million per year if you just left it in the bank.
Actually investing it, and smartly, you could get ~$25 million a year interest....
Hell, even I wouldn't have to work ever again and just live off the interest of that alone. Never touching the principle at all.
Banks are only insured up to so much. How does one simply leave that much in a bank?
Insured per account.
Instead of having 1 account with $558 million dollars, you have 2,232 bank accounts holding $250k each.
My wallet would be several feet thick with debit cards. >.>
Oh, you would still have at most 3 bank accounts to draw from.
Bank accounts = investment accounts according to the FDIC. Just have the interest go to specific accounts automatically and you will never have to worry about money again.
Also, your main bank accounts would have the most money in them. It would be silly to keep those at $250k and less. Just the investment (money making) accounts you would keep at $250k, just for insurance purposes.
I also realized that it's been 4+ months since I received a warning, much less a ban. Ever since a green went to a purple, it seems like all of my problems disappeared overnight.

if you choose an option of "locking in the funds for 5 years or 10 or 20 years" you can secure a higher interest rate right? then the bank is ecstatic and can freely borrow your funds to others for their own extreme profits during the duration etc.
Yeah, but you also lock those funds for a period of time, and you don't collect the income until the CD (Cash Deposit) time expires.
It's also still a worse interest rate to use than to actively invest it. CDs usually pay 1-2% more than the going interest rate, but you can get 5-8% more interest by actively investing the money.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
