Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
Why do I always watch those Hitler videos? Always great.

Allyha Kiade said: » Also never really felt the difference between mechanical keyboard and ones I've owned before, not quite sure what the difference is. Actuation force for one (amount of pressure it takes for the key to register it's been pressed. aka, how far down you have to press the key and how easy it is to press it.) The type of switch used beneath the key also determines how much force it requires. Cherry MX Reds being the lowest I think. Red, Blue, and Brown are the most common and each have their own features and specs. Red is the easiest one to get double and triple taps of a key on. (Very useful for certain types of games.) The other big advantage is very little to no ghosting whatsoever, depending on which keyboard you get of course. The Razer Blackwidow has horrible ghosting from what I've read. While the Corsair line has absolute zero. Ghosting is how many keys actually register as being pressed when you press down a lot of them at once. With membranes and crappy mechanical keyboards, say you press down QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKL all at the same time, only some of those keys will register as being pressed. On a good mechanical it will actually recognize that all of them have been pressed and subsequently take the input from all of them at once. Leviathan.Chaosx said: » I miss those kinda of keyboards. Been looking for a place that sells them new, and not crazy expensive. I need to feel the keys click down. When I started FFXI back in 2007 I had one, but got too much crap in it. If you like to feel the click of the actuation point, get either Cherry MX Browns or Blues. Guide explaining everything you need to know about the different kinds of switches: http://www.daskeyboard.com/blog/mechanical-keyboard-guide/ This is the keyboard I want forever.

"The paddle hit the ball back to you and it bounced down. Do you want to move your paddle up or down?" >_ "incorrect command. The ball passes besides you and the opponent scores. The score is 0-10 CPU wins." Friend of mine lol
Leviathan.Chaosx said: » Sounds expensive and overpriced. I prefer something more like this: I wasn't referring to those keyboards themselves. I was giving that as to what the difference in the switches were. Even on those older keyboards like you posted they had different switches. You mentioned the clicky feel that you liked and the link explained which switch type has that as well as much more detail on them. I wouldn't consider 100-150 expensive for a modern good mechanical keyboard anyway. Gaming ones tend to be more too because of the extra features. (USB passthrough, media keys, backlighting, windows key lock (LOVE IT TO DEATH), extra keys, etc.) Those older style ones are still great though and provide the same switches so if you're in the market for a basic mechanical they are a good choice. Just make sure you get the kind of switches you prefer. Leviathan.Chaosx said: » Back when they made keyboard sturdier with a little weight to them and without all the dazzle. Just about any of the newer mechanical keyboards have quite a bit of weight to them. My Corsair K90 is heavy as *** compared to a typical keyboard. It's also made of very little plastic, mostly metal. I consider anything more than $50 for a keyboard a bit insane.
Really depends on your disposable income/budget obviously.
Any keyboard I've ever bought that was that cheap was a piece of crap with horrible ghosting. I've had Cooler Master, Logitech, Das, Corsair, Razer, and Rosewill. IMO Corsair beats all. Das being a close second. Jetackuu said: » I consider anything more than $50 for a keyboard a bit insane. But mechanical keyboards though. Welp, nothing interesting happened this afternoon but at least the morning got me by *spins*
I wonder why no one is coming home yet though... What happened this morning?

It's hard for me to keep a long lasting high spirit. I have bought $100 kb before, and each one has lasted me around 5-7 years.
Compared to a $20 kb , you can feel the quality off the bat. My next kb should be a mechanical one with backlit keys. Current kb is backlit and it is just amazing, especially when gaming late night and lights off. Grats on all of the above.

I still use it even Valefor.Sehachan said: » >had sex typical rules apply Got the 20 button mouse from Logitech, only thing I have regretted buying.... Not because of the keys, but the actual mouse design, small, too smooth (not enough grip) and feels too light.
Just sits on my desk as a cool noevelty lamp lol. I have this logitech wireless kb, that i have since like 2004-ish. Was a kb mouse bundle. I replaced the mouse earlier this year because the surface I use it on made the laser track poorly, and it had no side buttons at all for extra bindings. Ended up getting a logitech performance mx mouse and i love it. nice and heavy with 3 extra buttons for some bindings and a unlockable freespinning scroll wheel.
A backlit keyboard would be nice though, since I play at night 90% of the time and my lamp in my room simply isn't bright enough to see :< |
