Ketchup is a must for me, but I love ketchup on nearly everything. The first time I made Ovr a burger, he had me put mayo and ketchup on his. I thought he was nasty, but the combo is pretty fantastic.

or take off the mayo, ketchup and pickles. add bbq sauce and sauteed pineapple slices

Apparently ketchup is banned in France because culturally it is believed to take away flavor from legit french cuisine.

Still remember,the best burger I've EVER had (and likely ever will have) was an ultimate bacon double cheese burger from jack in the box when I was in the US. Ordered it with ONLY the bacon/cheese on it,no sauces,no rabbit food,no nothing else (buns obviously) but it was the best thing ever,and nothing will likely ever top it. I dont eat burgers from places here,except once every 3 or 4 years I'll have an XL bacon double cheese burger from burger king. Which is "meh" on its best day

Oh god, no. >.> If I eat bacon on a burger (super, super rare for me) there is no way in hell ketchup or mustard can be involved. Horrible. Actually, even if it has lettuce on it I prefer it to not have ketchup. I dunno, I'm weird. But that whole thing just made me cringe.

The best burger I ever had only had cheese on it. A friend of my brother made some for supper one night when I was at their house. It didn't need a speck of anything on it at all, it was so amazing and I've never had another like it. I'd stack less crap on my burgers if they all tasted like that one did.
