Oddly this is something that comes up frequently >_>
I didn't wanna insinuate you were part of the 'silly random percentage'.
Tbh I feel weird pronouncing ANYTHING outloud. So I guess in my perspective it's all "in my head" pronunciation mostly..
Anyone else feel weird speaking XI (or other terms) outloud awkward at best? :3
Yeah, reminds me of a time a long time ago where i ran into this guy workin a drive through and he overheard my friend and i's convo about ffxi and he was like "Oh you play ffxi too!" and we talked about it and he kept on pronouncing Chocobo as "Chocko-bow" now, I say "Cho-co-bo"

Yeah, I usually turn to JPs for pronounciation on stuff like that. JPs say Xzomit "ゾミット" which is pronounced "Zomitt"

I think most FF terms would be pronounced differently by most people, seeing as for the most part, we only see them in their written forms, and don't get any audio clues.
I say chockah-bow (like bow-tie) and vana(rhymes with spanner) deal. I really don't care if that's not right, because I only ever pronounce them in my head :p

Quote: how good is gallant's roll?
It's a VERY situational roll, however with the proper set up (especially in abyssea) it CAN be an extremely powerful roll.
Where it would shine is against a mob that hits fast and hard where blood tanking makes a bit more sense.
Gallants roll IS effected by your magic attack bonus, fire affinity staves, etc, so with proper gear you can make the spike effects easily do 50-70% of the mobs damage to you, throw in some atma and you can EASILY top 100% damage return.
While I wouldn't use this roll terribly often, I think it gets thrown to the curb side 99% of the time when in fact it is more useful then people give it credit for.

It feels like this applies to the bulk of COR's repertoire.
I hope SE felt the CORrage worldwide when they promptly took back the 10min duration on 11rolls the patch right after they added it.
Oh well. Thank god for QD and pretty red hats.

I always assumed the connection, as such, mortal tongues cannot hope to utter the words of the dark lord, so don't even try.

I say choke-uh-bow, van-uh-deel, tah-roo tah-roo, Temple of ooh-guh-luh-puh, miz-uh-row (row a boat) coast, baff-low (loud) thickets. Pretty sure I say just about everything in ffxi wrong. /blush.

My question is this
Why was deodorize put in this game?, I heard rumors it prevented undead blood aggro, along with stopping certain enemies from tracking you, I.E crawlers.

Deodorize has its uses.. just not very often i suppose.. (no doesn't prevent blood aggro)
Used it when leveling bst a lot before I got leave.. was nice for those few levels..
Can use it to lose aggro too fairly consistently.
Sometimes i think i can get around a mob w/o aggroing it and it just doesn't work. Happened to me in nyzul isle, running around doing quests in general, and assaults a lot.
90% of the time sleeping the mob >> deodorize >> run away.. id never see it again.
Although the only time deodorize would be useful is if you made a mistake by not having sneak / invis up to being with... so i guess its only useless if you never make that mistake >_>

If folks are going over pronunciation...
Joachim
"Joachim is a surname, ultimately derived from the Biblical king Jehoiakim. Pronunciation varies, and may be wa-keem' or jo'-akim."
I'm going with the former. All you *** saying "joe-uh-chim" and "jow-chim" can rot in hell.
Cuisses
It's "kwis-sez."
Caturae
According to the wiki, its origins are the sanskrit game "caturaṅga." The way the mobs are described by SE, catura ought to be singular and caturae is plural. Going by a flimsy latin class, it should be "ka-too-rye."
And sweet god, someone tell me how to pronounce "d'Oraguille."
(d-or-ah-gee?)

I remember the voice-over guy from the intro CS (that one everyone turned off years ago) pronounced it "bas-TOOK" almost as if it was "-tük" (with an umlaut.) :p
I figured SE paid the guy to do the voice over, so I'd imagine he was saying it as correctly as the English-language localisation team felt it should be. :p
