I've been looking for info on him all day and there isn't very much info to be found.
I'm just curious on strat and the different ways people have killed him. Do you have to Brew?!? Is that the only way to win?
Any info would be awesome and thanks in advance.

Do you HAVE to use a brew? No. It is, however, the greatly preferred method simply because of how much of a snatch Rani can be under 50%.
If you're looking for non-brew methods, try a pet burn. SMNs and BSTs, with the correct amount of control over their pets, can bring it down with a couple of skilled tanks and a few WHMs.
Outside of that it all comes down to the skill, gear and gumption of the people you're going with. Once it hits 50% expect all hell to break loose, and expect to reset its DT- at least once.

Have you heard of anyone winning without Brewing?
I've been looking around and reading what I can but I can't seem to find a win without Brewage.

easily the worst nm in the game by the time you break its stoneskin it just cures itself and puts it back up.. just had our DD with hate kiting it and everyone else chasing to ws while its casting and then run away after so you dont cure from the inevitable tp move right after
we brewed at like 5% and our brewguy got charmed at 1% lol *** stupid

I've heard of people winning without brew, yes, via the pet burn method. I've also heard of a couple of cases without pets, but they had to force the NM to become passive to reset the DT-. It's really a terrible fight, easily one of the hardest in the game right now, and if you're super serious about completing it in any reasonable amount of time, brew or pet burn's the way to go.
Someone else may have a more convincing argument to say otherwise, but the NM is just a ***.

I have killed him for a few friends and another ls that needed a tank, incoming info:
I solo tanked on mnk/nin using GH/SS/Apoc, no other dd's on it, as long as your tank is decent, he'll be able to kill it solo, its regular melee hits have stat drain on them, and he'll take your buffs. He also cast meteor at will, but its a very weak one only doing 1kish dmg.
He can be slowd and elegy, I dont believe para landed on him, interference is amnesia and knock back, so tank it with back against the wall. His charm has a pretty wide range of 15, and last a good minute, best to just kite while tank is charmed, and let him get hate back after. He slowly gets more pdt as the fight continues, capping at 90% pdt after about 30 minutes, I killed it in 14 and it was just starting to show.
All in all, a fun fight. If you have some form of hateless ranged dmg, that speeds it up.

You do not need pets to kill Rani, and you do not need brews. It'll start -dting at 15minutes, so I advise idling it (confluxing the entire alliance until it turns yellow, takes about 3 or so minutes of constant 1-8ing) and killing it from there. You do not want more than 1-2 people on the mob, I'd honestly suggest one solid DD (MNK, NIN).
Make sure mages are 20.1+ away from both Rani and the tank, honestly don't know which one the charm AOE is based off of. You'd want to bring a BLM(not /BLM) to stun Meteor since it'll wreck your alliance and potentially kill your tank.
You don't need more than 1~2 GOOD WHMs, but you MUST have at least one.
RDM/NIN is always a good backup plan for incase ***gets ugly and you need to kite. And that's about all I have to say on Rani. He's really not that bad, you *** be crazy.

I helped an EGLS take it down last week, its the biggest *** NM I've ever encountered, it took us 6 hours to down with no brews used lol
We let it deaggro twice to remove the damage reduction, and stopped trying to proc weakness and people came either SMN or another job just to try kill it.

I don't know how old this is :(
But she doesn't "Cast meteor at will", its at 50%/40%/30%/etc etc.
Second, She builds a gradual rage over time, so its best to kill her quickly, 1 tank at a time does really help keep tp spam down.
thirdly, She has an AoE 20' Charm TP move, it can make the fight annoying if it uses it too much.
fourthy! You can stun her, but she builds resist very very quickly, so i would save it for emergencies (Try stunning Charm-AoE, or Meteor for instace).
Fight can be easy, but for most people it will be rather difficult. Being able to hatelessly damage it (SMNs) does really help things, and SMN damage is pretty good on it, But the fight is doable without brew, and without SMNs.

We didn't have much info on how to take it down, we just went with what we had, didnt have a perfect setup for it and we lost our tanks partway in, a lot of the fight was people trying to recover while it would keep healing itself up or trying to get it to deaggro to lose the -damage taken :/

My ls killed it not to long ago without brew, tried a couple hair-brained tactics that didnt work such as confluxing it didnt make it go idle, it went yellow yes but when everyone went to #01 it ran the entire map towards us; tried zoning out of the maw while someone kited it, but found the time it took to do that was not very kind to the person that was kiting it. so we decided to go straight from 100-0% without de-agroing it. that can be done without pets and brew, what sin said is probably the best course of action, your best tanks for this is most likely mnk or sam, dnc (lol goodbye fan dance) and pld (lol everything) is out of the question, i found out the hard way this is was probably the only one of the 6 that you DO NOT want to have a dnc show up, it ate my fan dance (which really sucks). the meteor imo isnt the real threat, as long as your back line jobs know to gtfo when it nears a certain percent you're fine. additionally compared to the rest of it's aga's it's not exactly strong.
fight took us a little over 2 hours and that was with the failed strategies.

After beating it once the hard way, my friend and I agreed to help re-unlock it and brew it for another LS in exchange for the drops.
I was able to hold it pretty easily on DNC until we got blue and then red, after which I popped a brew and Aeolian'd it into oblivion while my pocket RDM brewed and healed it back so I had to do more aeolian edges lol.

I've brewed Rani 3x for shits and giggles now playing with different jobs/atmas.
#1 was NIN. Not knowing what to expect, I wasn't aggressive enough with Jins for fear of healing it and chose atma poorly. Atma was VV+RR. Brew wore off at ~7% with 2-3 heals on it. Jins varied widely from 2.2k-11.5k.
#2 was RDM. In looking at the logs after the fact, I am pretty sure it had ShellV it absorbed off of someone that didn't get dispelled. Nukes were doing 3kish dmg with 2 MAB atma and full MAB gear on. All casts were Bliz4. (My Shinryu Bliz4 nukes with same setup/Atma cap at ~17.7k fairly consistently)
#3 was THF. RR, Gnarled Horn, Sanguine Scythe. Evisceration averaged 6.6k iirc. Took it down in about 45 seconds from brew I think, but I haven't gone through the logs yet.
No charms on me during any fights while brewing.
I don't have any OAT or WoE weapons to play with atm, but will probably do it again when I finish WoE Katana or GA.

On Sunday my LS fought Rani, and at 10% another LS stole him. It was quite frustrating because by the time we got him back, he was at 17%, and the guy who stole him ran him right in the middle of the bombs. :/
It was getting late, and some ppl had to log so we ended up giving up.
Edit: We had a standard set up - PLD x2 WHM x2, DDs, a few BLMs.
Edit: We did not use any brews

This fight was the most fun I've had since abyssea came out. Single mnk tank with a backup tank (to run in at charmga) and lots of support make this fight. Save the brews for shinryu spam.

My linkshell had a pop last night and we went in for a "test run" just to see how fun the fight actually was. Had Nin tank it with a mnk for backup..its an interesting fight.
We used Smns and Blm for damage with 1 person calling times for Nuke/BP, and it worked like a champ. The fist 50% is cake..the 2nd 50% is less fun. We got charmed a few times but thats not bad just make sure you have sleepga's waiting and ALWAYS have DoT's on. When Tank1 got charmed Tank2 jumped. If both got charmed or died then we just let our smn/bst hold it until we were ready to start again.
We reached PDT around the 30~35% mark and decided to lose hate..took us a while to do it correctly but once that was over it was back to the usual killing method.
We did not use brew and with all the time it took us to idle it I think it took us around 45~50ish min to kill.
Thanks for all the advice on kill it helped a lot.
