Seals... Going About Getting Them...

ive had nothing but horrible luck and HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE parties.... are there any ways to make this simpler or a solo job. quite tired of losing exp and wasting traversers because shouts are inept to do anything correctly. [please assist!]

well my suggestion is to duo with some one you know is competant. So far I have thf head hands legs and feet +1 with the most part done by duoing. I go thf and my friend goes rdm. Rdm can trigger some times as well which will help you. Majority of NMS can be done with this combination tbh so just buy your pops if its a popped nm and go pop 2-3 then leave and it should only take one traverser stone to do.

Dnc can solo some and also combo with rdm works just fine too. I have not seen your job list but if you have either of those 3 jobs and can find a buddy to partner with you should be set.

Theres lots of quests you can do for seals, you dont HAVE to kill nm's

Quests are more of a stone-sink than getting a friend or two together for NMs.

i'm a sam with just war, dnc, and nin leveled for subs. havent plyed very long and dont have much else i can use. looking specifically for head and pants. anything a sam can do for themselves in that department?

I've rly only done abysea for exp, hardly ever do nm's, mainly cause my shell does them while at work, anyways, yeah, i had to turn in like 8stacks of murexs forpld pants, and like 10stacks of sausage for drk pants

There are quests..but for some jobs they are incredibly complex and and stupidly associated with "being in the right place at the right time". I have more than 150 minutes lost trying to do rdm foot seals(still missing 2 of the 5 key items needed to complete hits thing) and have decided to get a seal pt together this weekend. I was able to quest the legs....hat i began just getting ppl together who also wanted seals and focused on that.

Most Seal NM can be done with a group of 6..because my LS does not really farm seals for the members the pt's I make tend to be larger. Once in a while they shift to TE and AF pt's...but the goal is to get the seals.

One note when making a pt for seals...make sure you say..repeatedly..."This is NOT an EXP pt., this is NOT a TE pt, we will NOT be building lights, we WILL be fighting NM for Seals"... you will still get some idiot who will *** about not doing lights right for exp. but then you can remind him/her that they were told from the beginning that this was not an exp pt.

as thf do you go /nin? If so bring some elemental tools since Ni elementals can proc !!


Hell a small party can decimate most the seal droppers,

OK well if you main is samurai do you have a friend who is thf nin or dnc? and a rdm or whm friend?

Your job will be useful to ws blue/red trigger gear/atma drops if theres anything worthwile dropping off nms you may like, also zerging the last HP off the mob will save some time.

Quests can be done but I see them as a waste of time, most have 4 seal chance to drop and you dont get a seal everytime,also you only get one......

True this is for NMs too but if you proc you can get more seals which could be for a mixture of jobs and hence a better chance imo.

Again this is my personal opinion you may find quests better suited for you.

Nms for samurai you may want to consider if you have friends who can help,

Its a kited nm and I have solod on blm lvl 85, this drops samurai leg in misereaux coast.

For head seals.... Whiro is probably easiest to kill in abyssea attohwa need thf dnc nin to tank it for you pld as well probably....

Being honest you wont solo anything on samurai they hit too hard for you to cure yourself repeatedly /dnc

But unless u trigger the !! on the nm isnt the drop rate just crap?
I prefer quests, u can do them w/e u want on ur on time with no worry about competition.

1) Pretty much any of the Popped NMs for seals in the Tier 2 zones can be duo'd with ease. (Newest zone NMs are a bit tougher)

2) If you are doing seal nms with a group of 6, there's no reason to not build up time before hand. it takes all of 20-30 minutes to cap pearl and azure and get a half dozen TE chests. Also, once you've started getting TEs, you can get more as you farm up pops for more NMs. No, it's not an XP party, but you're just wasting stones if you don't build up time. Especially with six (!) people.

Not only that, but some of them are just downright unreasonable. I know the ones for Blue Mage legs and feet seals were insane. The legs were easy but they cost you big time. Usually upwards of 1-2 million gil, depending on the current price of Murex Spicules. And the feet were just downright stupid-- you had a 30% chance to get them from the quest, each time requiring up to 5 Viscous Spittles which drop from spiders, which drop them at a rate of 13% and only from a group of them that like to huddle together and link like hell.

Of course, lots of seals quests can be easy too. I know I got like 5 RDM leg seals just doing that Galkan Sausage quest in Abyssea-Misareaux for fame. And that was expending maybe 20 minutes worth of my Visitant time for a whole stack of 12.

@OP: I agree with everyone saying that your best bet is to try low-manning it. Find an NM with an exploitable weakness: maybe he runs slower, maybe he can be kited with a few spells. Otherwise, yeah, it looks like Samurai got kinda screwed in the questing department >.<;

It's all in how you sell it.

For example, Iktomi is one of the NMs that drops your feet seals. Get a couple of buddies together that need their AF feet base item and sell them on the abyssite that iktomi drops since it increases the chances of gold chests. Farm him until people get their abyssite while doing amber kills on the spiders there. This is great because SAM feet drop there also if you don't already have that.

And depending on your level of support, you can start by farming TEs first then spam the NM. This is the best way to do it hands down. You may even be able to attract more people by advertising free lot on the drops.

You need to be creative in how to bolster support to kill these NMs. Use it as an opprotunity to make friends. Heck, you can probably meet some people that need the same NMs by talking to people in XP PTs or magian trials.

Basically, if you know some people that can benefit from doing the same NMs, then this is the best way to get people to help you out imo. Good luck with your seals! Spam the NM and profit!

I solo many of my seals on MNK.
attowa chasm: Aggressor Antlion: BLM MNK PUP SMN seals. very very very easy solo
vunkler: crawler NM. challenging to say the least, but drops nice stuff. (mnk nin pld cor)
Miser.coast: lots of weak NM's. Can duo all and solo a fair amount.


I really like:
Mounted king -> regen + vit
+ evasion atma
+ (for MNK GH atma)

Atmas and temp-items made the game much more solo friendly. And if the NM's get hard, i'm shure you can find a duo partner.

This is very true. You always have to keep in mind that every NM in Abyssea has more than 1 reward associated with it. Many have Abyssites, Atmas, Key Items, or other useful equipment. And every NM that drops seals drops them for 4 different jobs.
