As a new player, I can say getting my first mount was epic, and I'm looking forward to my first epic mount. =P

I don't play WoW because I know I will be hooked on it, and I don't have time for that. Yeah I know "Just learn to balance" blah blah blah, but it's tough for me to do that with a shiny new game. My RL friend plays it a lot and it's fun to watch him. Numbers numbers numbers~

the thing i loved most about WoW was the theatrical bosses. It wasn't just an NM appearing out of thin air. They actually had a setting specific to each boss and usually a little opening scene or something to denote that HEY this isn't just your normal NM. This is srs bzniss. Tbh, what pulled me in is that Blizzard listen to their players, and will actually have fun with them in the form of references and stuff, opposed to SE that generally ignored the playerbase for *** years, and I just sat down and took it like a *** for so many years.. After the failure that was FFXIV, I said enough was enough lol.
TBH the biggest thing that I instantly fell in love with is the Authenticator.

Secondly, and this is the thing that impressed the hell out of me... The availability of it on the Apple iPhone or iTouch, or a variety of other phones (android etc...) FOR FREE I don't know about you, but an account security thing that is FREE is always good in my book.
The customer base is a helluva lot nicer also, first night playing, made a topic on their forum, withing 20 minutes I had immense help from players, do that on here? Liable to be called a gimp (seen it happen)
Now in no way am I promoting that WoW is better then XI, but in my personal experience so far, I like it

I have a chat channel devoted just to trade/raid/shout ***.
Keep my "general" channel only for Guild/Party
I've heard nothing but bad things about the community though. I've heard it's worse than XI for immature players which is kind of hard for me to imagine.

Most interactions i've had so far were great.
I'm in a great guild also, very mature playerbase.
I've kinda noticed the dark races seem to be more immature than the lighties. With that said, I always play the bad side. :3

It's pretty sad that I've heard more mature chat from COD players then from people who play wow.

You can leave chat channels if you don't want to be in them, not too sure if you'll automatically rejoin it when you leave that zone and then come back.
And on the subject of immature players, yeah I've already bumped into a few, mainly in the Battlegrounds raging because they can't handle defeat, but I've just been liberally adding *** to my Ignore list as I've gone along, I gave the *** of Asura enough chances and never really blacklisted anyone playing FFXI so I'm not doing the same on WoW lol.

epic heroic gunship battle with no ally gunship! the bugs in wow are pretty fail compared to what ffxi has

Awww /comfort lol I didn't keep track but I probably spent about 6 or 7 hours time spread over a few months time trying for it.
As far as player base, I didn't run into too many turds on WoW but I spent most of my time like I do in XI, playing solo :3 Reputation doesn't matter as much on WoW imo though. Screwed your Guild over? Switch servers, change your name and race and nobody will be the wiser :P At least when people hop on XI it's a tiny bit easier to know such and such played an Elvann SAM and WAR and ect.

getting the turds depends on what server you play on and on what faction you play on take illidan for example which is my DKs server. there are about 300 ally players so not a high chance to find turds there but on horde side its a complete *** fest on trade chat. ffxi its a bit easier to tell if someone has screwed over their linkshell due to having ffxiah and other such things but i must say the wow community take things like ninja looting extremely seriously lol
All this talk makes me wanna roll on a PvP server with another character and try stuff out.

i was one of the wow bashers till i actually played the game and its just amazing ffxi had its moment for 6 years when i played but right now wow is just alot better imo, professions that are actually useful heaven forbid that happens in ffxi lol epic boss battles most of which still can break up guilds/linkshells ahh Hardmode Algalon lol

another thing i like about wow is there is no useless class from what i am seeing ppl saying paladin is useless in ffxi, idk if that is true but looks like a majority of ppl are saying that, every class in ffxi has its own utility that they can bring to a raid/party right now paladin tanks are just stupid OP lol 42k crits with a shield attack is no fair lol 17k in pvp which is about half or more health to some ppl
