How Do You Take A Screenshot?

Sorry to annoy you all with a simple question but I need to know this so I can post pictures of the chat log so I can prove the data for my mana wall testing (with goetia sabots +1) that im gonna post later.

Keep in mind: Yes I am on a pc, No I do not have windower (I use the one SE gives).

1.) Click on your taskbar
2.) Push the 'print screen' button on your keyboard
3.) Open up paint
4.) Hit 'control v' into paint
5.) Edit the screenshot in paint if you wish. Don't forget to save! ^^

1) get windower
2) use the print screen button

I think this is the only way to take a screenshot of the chatlog without windower.

Fraps can take screenshots too if I remember, been at least 5 years since I last used Fraps though.

In order to do it to keep your chat window, you should just use windows print screen then copy and paste that into mspaint

using FF official ss will remove all that stuff

hmmm for some reason its not working... not sure if its my "print screen" button or what because when I do control v nothing happens

Hm :-( Control v is just to paste it. Try to manually paste and see if that works. If it's not that, then I'm sorry, I don't know anything else.

Using Windower, would be the easiest way honestly.

If you really don't want to use Windower, then yeah...you'll have to do it the way Liela said.

Although, if you just do printscreen, it will take a screenshot of your whole desktop. If you select a window, then hold Alt + print screen, then it will take a screenshot of just the window that you had selected. Then do control v on paint and copy it there, and save etc.

Ok, I think I know what your problem is.

I just ran FFXI on SE's official windowed mode. I selected the game window, then hit Alt + printscreen and did ctrl v on paint, but it didn't paste anything.

Then I did, again, selected the window, but this time just hit printscreen, and then did ctrl v on pain, but still...it didn't paste anything.

Finally, I clicked outside of the FFXI window (click somewhere in your desktop), THEN do just printscreen. Finally, you can do ctrl v on pain and it will paste a copy of your desktop, which will include the FFXI window. That did work, so try that.

Thx for trying guys but i couldn't get it to work so i just got a software to do it.

Prt Screen naturally isn't going to work if the window is focused lol.

A simple push of the printscreen button works if you're using windower.

Windower overlays FFXI though, I mean without using Windower.

Edit: To describe what I meant in detail, FFXI was never meant to be windowed, and as such, Prt Screen is disabled unless you press Scroll Lock first, also just because I guess SE didn't want us taking pictures unless they were "pretty"... Oddly enough it is exactly the same in FFXIV, just you have to hold Scroll Lock then hit Prt Screen.

I use the Windows 7 Snipping Tool for Screenshots, that way things come out already cropped if I want them to. :)
