The best items to craft right now are consumables or perishable goods.

Is there anything crafted that's actually 'perishable'?

Anyway, taking the long term view, most buyers of weapon/equipment eventually become competitors to the crafters who made them; eventually, the majority of people who purchase gear will sell the gear to get upgrades. Even if they do not upgrade, they also wouldn't be buying that weapon/equipment from the crafters again, shrinking the pool of potential buyers.

Weapon/equipment is a market with built-in demand drop over time.

* * *

The need to keep crafters employed is a good argument for making almost all equipment wear out with use and hence need to be replaced/repaired, but the sheer nuisance factor is a good argument for not doing that. lol.

Maybe SE can implement it for HQ gear only; over time they get worn down and become only as effective as NQ gear, until an appropriately high level crafter repairs it. (Also makes the service available from NPC, to keep a cap on cost. Maybe also allow crafters to make item extra durable depending on skill?)

Just a question about getting the armour from Abyssea.. Is there a limit to how manny armor pieces you can buy with the currency. So say you can only get 5x Pearl body 5x feet ect? or is it uncapped?

They are rare/ex so I'd think you can only hold 1 type of gear at the same time, for example 1 pearl head, 1 whatever head, 1 something else body and so on.

I have 3 ways of making gil....sorta

1. Is the cruor gear from abysea sells for like 7k each, and cost around 3kcruor, so 1cruor= 2ish gil

2. fising, people always need food, 1 rly easy food is pizza, you need ice fish to make it. i let my sis borrow my lu shang rod to fish up ice fish, and she also 100cook, and shes said shes made about 1mil gil just from pizza in the past week (she said shes still got like 40pizzas on a mule, i told her to bazaar them next to abysea teleport npc)

3. is prolly silver coins.... im not sure yet, but I kinda wana get brd or rdm to 75, and do nothing but meripos, and get imperial standing. Silver coins are sellin from bazaar for about 2.5k each now, cause people NEED!! to go to jueno from whitegate, and since there too lazy to walk and get a silver coin from coin person, they just buy it.
so in a way......... if you get 1k exp from wg, you can get 1silver coin from coin vendor, and sell it for 2.5ishk. meaning 1kexp=2.5k gil
I like to bazaar silver pieces overnight when i leave my game on, they will usually sell about 50ish over an 8hour period of time, (depending on your price)

These are just some things I do personally to make gil
(also, wind crystals last time i saw sellin for 2k a stack) >_>

I like to add, there it's never "Hard to come by gil" you just gota be smart when it comes to new updates, and think about what people dont want anymore, and what they want now. Hell i bet some ls's are selling, are will be selling the new af3 items you need in abysea for a price, just like they sell items from hnms

Woodworking can also bring in a nice profit, especially when every ranger and ninja on earth is trying to level up for the new caps. Make shihei, make status bolts, make scorpion, demon, and kabura arrows. Usually I use the arrows I make, so they are not so profitable for me. But for woodworkers who are not leveling rng, it should be able to bring in a fair amount.
^^^^ ! Shihei are currently selling at around 70k a stack of toolbags on Gilgamesh O.o
I hate you guys. I had to pay 100k for a stack of toolbag shehei last time. And a stack dont even last a week >< For OP as everyone else has said, fishing. Even at low lv you can make some nice profit on moat carp. Cooking also make a good profit these days. If your fishing and cooking is high enough you can make really good profit from fishing for your own sushi.

Holy ***, i have kinda high woodworking, maybee i shouldfish up nebi or squid, give it to alchemy mule make ink, and then make some shehei before the price falls.... >_<

Sell Shihei, on Titan alone it's like 77k for a stack of 12 toolbags, that cost you, if you buy the ingredients from an NPC and fish the black ink 15k-ish.

EDIT: Someone already said.

gil has been hard to come by for people that think inside the box since 2006ish

it's a lot like RL. if you do what everyone else does expecting to get rich, you'll probably be disappointed.

if you look closely for unmet demands and adjust accordingly, there is gil to be made

Can farm beehive chips Make to beeswax or honey with beeswax you can make silent oils which is still in high demand as are echo drops which you make from the honey. In north gustaberg you can farm gobby masks as well desynth that to glass fiber and make prism powder with that.
Farming your own mats for cooking because as someone said before food is ALWAYS needed.
Fishing is great money as well can fish nebs to make black ink for ninja tools such as shihei even at super low level
Woodworking is quite good profit too. scorpion arrowheads and the insect fletchings cost nearly nothing to make if you have the crafts to make yourself. then make quivers of arrows which sell for about 20k a stack or so...
Dont forget about mining in zhayolm. its not nearly as good as it was before say the lv80 cap update but its still decent and considering i rarely see people mining in the zone anymore... khroma isnt the only moneymaker in that zone. can get everything for iron bullets by mining there (Of course except the crystal) as well as gobby masks for as i said before prism powders.
Just a few ways i make money might not be the best ways but hey it works for me And note my Woodworking/Alch is 60 and my cooking is 100 so with the crafts i listed there are sure to be better profit makers at higher level

Yeah I used to make all my gil in mount zhaylom mining and being a high level blacksmith. Although theres some money to be made there its only a fraction of what it used to be. Its nice to sell fish, food, meds, etc if your just funding your day to day habits...but you sure as hell need to sell a lot of perle gear, silent oils, and fish to fund a mythic weapon.

thats funny, cause I've been making gil hand over fist recently I'm up about 5 million in the last 3 months.

See kids, plan out your ToM weapons carefully, and when you have to do like 600 of a certain mob do the ones that you can farm materials off of

Im not a big poster but in class and bored"

Simple answer is Fish, done

I have had about 3 "main" characters in my time on XI and everyone of them has had a relic weapon, hq gear blah blah blah. And i did nothing but fish. I did a bit of cooking but mainly what i did was set my happy *** in nashmau or wherever the closest npc is fish>sell to npc. everyday all day. Evenmoreso B4 abyssea came out and angel skins were worth sumthin, kuftal tunnel would net you about 10mil a week if u spent the time down there.

As of now i think the mistake people are making is they are tryna do multiple things at once. You cant be in an endgame shell or abyssea shell doing events or watever and expect to be making bank.(unless u got mules)
Its one or the other, If you about your money be about it and dont do anything else but make money. I made a Yoichi from stage 1>5 in 3 months flat; never crafting; NPC's on this game bought my relic lol pretty much, and one 3m lushang's rod turned into a 200mil+ relic lol

In order to make good gil into Goldmithing and Smithing u gotto have a very high lvl since most will come from the HQ. My pwr mule is GS 69 and smith mule is 78 so they are far from HQing for a living. Being that said, at the moment my money makers are Woodworking (even at 76) and Cooking 99. The reason for this is because (although I don't fish) ... My Alchemy mule can HQ the Base Materials for Woodworking, and my cooking mule can HQ base items for alchemy.

In conlcusion, yes is harder now (after 5-6 years) as many people have leveled up their crafts... there is more competition + undercutting. But in any case I still make good gil from finding a market niche or from symbiotic relationship between my crafting mules. And sadly, unless you hop into synergy and make new things with a 75% markup, you be forced to level up other crafts to support your main craft.

Its really easy to make money if you try =0

Just find an item in Abyssea a bunch of idiots are too lazy to farm and sell it severely overpriced.

Like the new Amoeban / Conchshellwhore items, of which you need 3 to complete a certain quest, currently about 50k+, they have like 50% Drop rate and you can Despoil them.

As a THF thats your best bet =P run up to one of the new mobs > Despoil > gtfo > rinse/repeat!

Easy 50k/steal o-o

Edit: I lied, the Amoeban ***is now ~100k on Asura lol.
And the Murex Stuff is 90k~+
