Ventrillo Help

My ls uses ventrillo, as I know quite a few do, my question to you guys is... My PTT button will not work when FFXI is the active window.
I have a brand-knew latop top HP dv6 series, with windows 7. Got it saturday actually.
I DL the vent thing that said 'Vista or newer'.
My PTT key will work when any other window is active, EXCEPT FFXI.
I do play FFXI in their legal windowed mode.
I just use the internal mic my laptop has.
My husband has desktop with Vista with an external mic, his PTT button works just fine, and it seems all of our settings are the same, as far as I can tell.
If anyone knows what is wrong that would be great! It is so much of a hassle to alt-tab to change the window, I'm scared someone will die in my PT as I'm talking!

Do you use windower?

I had the same problem, then all of a sudden it started working. The only think I changed that I could think of is that I started using windower on my laptop

do you play on windows vista? i had this problem the way that i solved it was by turning off the administration account thing (the thing that asks you if you want to run a program everytime you click on it). Once i turned it off my push to talk worked fine, that would be my guess if you dk how to turn it off sent me a pm.

Just an update guys, I have windows 7, and I play in 'windowed mode' (changing the settings in ffxi config file to 'open in windowed mode').
I've used the 3rd pt windower before like 2 years ago, but I got hacked, so I don't use that anymore.
Going to try this admin thing that you talked about. I'll let you know

OK, just changed the admin settings and restarted the pc, it worked! thanks alot guys! now my pt won't die
