Happens to everyone. I have had a full break on a craft I was 66 levels above it.

It seems SE uses the 95% rule. Regardless of how many levels over the cap you are you will still have a 5% chance to break (including no loss, minor loss, critical loss). So you could be level 999 making a level 5 cap sync item and still break and lose all your mats. >.<

I've gotten 7 in a row 30+ above the synth before...
