I've read the sword of truth series 4 times and it is my favorite series, so hopefully I have some good suggestions for you and others if you've enjoyed them; here are some authors you need to read:

R.A. Salvatore - One of the largest contributors to forgotten realms. His demon war saga and dame trilogy are outside forgotten realms but very good.
Robin Hobb - All of her book are extremely well written and you become attached to all the chars.
Raymond E Fiest - Great series, fun and easy to read (not childish, just has great flow and encourages you to keep reading)
David Eddings - A lot like fiest in that they are easy books to get in to and love the chars. He likes to re-use the same story line in his 2nd set of books (he has 1 series then another with same char's and it is basically the same story written over again 10-20 years later) but even with that ive enjoyed them immensely.
David Gemell - more based on medievil warfare than the classic magic and monsters, but he has some great books.
Jack whyte - Local author so he may be hard to find outside of BC, Canada but he did an amazing take on the arthurian legend (you know, king arthur) starting from the fall of the roman empire into the foundings of britan. He has also done a knight's templar series i havent read yet.

All of my books are in storage so I cant dig through them and find others ive enjoyed but these are what i have off the top of my head.
