If you enjoyed Sword of Truth, and are looking for a similar, in-depth series, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time is excellent. Also, George R.R. Martin's saga, A Song of Ice And Fire is incredible.

These are the 2 I thought of as well. A Song of Ice And Fire series may not be complete, but what is available is excellent.

The Terry brooks Shannara set is still a good read regardless. Even Magic Kingdom for sale was decent book, even though i read it in like 4th or 5th grade the first time through.

R.A. Salvatore has, and always will be one of my favorite authors. Originally the icewind dale trilogy was supposed to be about wulfgar, not Drizzt. and all the follow-ups he's done i rather enjoyed. it focuses more on the other characters and not on Drizzt alone. Especially the sellswords series focusing on Artemis and Jarlaxle. at least i think it was the sellswords series. If you aren't a fan of Drizzt, try the cleric's quintet. might enjoy that more.

i can't believe this hasnt been brought up yet, but The Death Gate Cycle by margeret weis and tracy hickman. Really a great bunch of books.

these are basically 3 of my fav series that i still go back and read on occasion today. hope you find something you enjoy, bc a good book is never a bad thing to find.

R.A. salvatore DemonWars series is a very very very good one! I picture the Toul'alfar as TaruTarus lol.

Also a personal favorite of Mine is Jack Vance's The Dying Earth series.

I have seen The Wheel of Time mentioned, A song of Ice and Fire amongst a few others.

One I would highly recommend is the Witcher series by Andrezj Sapkowski.

Get yourself The Last Wish and Blood of Elves and then get upset when you have to wait for the rest of them to be translated into English ><

Dunno if you're a fan of Star Wars or not, but those novels aren't bad. Timothy Zahn is particularly talented and the Admiral Thrawn triolgy is a very good read if you're a fan.

The author of Dresden Files also has a fantasy series called The Codex of Alera. Would suggest checking it out if. Also if you're looking for more series along the line of Dresden Files I would suggest any of the following series: The Nightside by Simon R Green, Greywalker by Kat Richardson, Cal Leandros by Rob Thurman, Remy Chandler by Thomas E Sniegoski, and Nightwatch by Sergei Lukyanenko.

the Ender Saga by Orson Scott Card is a good series, the first book is more military strategy, but the other books in the series still have some military aspect, but delve deeper into politics, science fiction, space travel.

another saga that deals with military is Orphan's/ Orphanage series by Robet Buettner.

Both these saga's have to deal with scifi/space if your into that.

It's not too bad, to be perfectly fair. Just keep in mind, Eragon was written by a 15 year old at the time.

From what I heard about the book it's extremely generic fantasy with a plot that isn't really gripping. I saw the movie and wasn't impressed.

hey hey
I just finished a series of books by Tess Gerritsen. I believe they are planning on turning the books into a tv series later in the year.
Here's a link to them
http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/g/tess-gerritsen/

They are your standard police investigation for disturbing crimes etc only difference is Tess Gerritsen used to be a Pathologist, so much of the more gruesome parts are very delicately portrayed and it does truely keep you on the edge of your seat. I personally started with "Keeping The Dead" which is one of the more recent ones and was so taken with her style and dedication to detail I bought them all and started from scratch re-reading the final one.

Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles is the series I'm talking about. Ive only read one or two of the stand alone novels.

anyway I hope this is some use to you

I'm just finishing up the 4th book of the dark tower series and woud highly recommend it, been a brilliant read so far.

Others i'd suggest are anything by Ian Irvine and like a few others the whole Terry Brookes run from running with the demon all the way through to straken.

Trudi Canavan and Karen Miller are both also excellent writers imo.

I know its a little lame but the Cirque Du Freak series is pretty good. 12 books with about 200-300 pages per one.

Well I havent Dresden Files or Sword of Truth so I'm not sure if these would appeal to you, but Dune is a sci-fi classic (the first 3 novels are great, the last 3 got kinda weird for me but eh). And I rather liked Karin Traviss's Republic Commando novels, good war sci-fi. For more fantasy related, Brent Week's Night Angel trilogy I enjoyed a lot.

I recently read The Night Angel Trilogy myself. Once I started reading them, I couldn't put them down. Took the books with me everywhere I went. XD

The Zion Covenant series by Bodie Thoene is good, it's about a group of people in Germany during WWII. The first book in the set is Vienna Prelude, if you like that one then you can read the other 5. It's historical fiction, with quite a few nonfictional events plugged in.

The Necromancer Chronicles by Amanda Downum is good if you like fantasy. The first book is The Drowning City, it's about a necromancer mercenary who's been hired to start a revolution.

The Blood Lily Chronicles is good too, by Julie Kenner. The first book is Tainted. It's about a girl named Lily who is murdered and then turned into a demon hunter to try and stop the apocalypse. This is also fantasy.

The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is also good, the first book is Moon Called. It's about a Native American skinwalker named Mercedes (Mercy for short.) This one is fantasy, too.
