I'm fed up with various computer problems atm, I've waited a day as many people said and it hasn't "fixed itself". I've reset the router, ran anti-virus, restarted computer, ran updates, etc. If anyone has a solution to this it would be very much appreciated.

Is your firewall blocking it? Check the settings.

Firewall is off completely, no antivirus is blocking it ether. I looked up the ports that needed to be allowed and they are all allowed.

I'm assuming by reset the router, you mean you did the router and modem. If not try that. If so go to next section.

Check your drivers for your network card. If that doesn't work...

Run the file check on POL. See if that successfully runs or not.

Yeah, I reset both. I updated my drivers for the wireless card and it didn't change it. Check files found no problems. I also booed it up via 360 and it has the same problem there. I'm guessing it's ISP related rather then router/connection.

Do you have verizon? They're notorious for port blocking.

No I have a local ISP. Do I need to call them to get it unblocked?

You might have to. Have you had a viruses recently, or any HD difficulties? Perhaps a file got kinda corrupted in your POL or FF and it's screwing it all up.

I reinstalled my computer along with FF+POL about 3 weeks ago. No viruses or other problems since. I'll just call and ask, thanks for the help.

Hopefully it's just your ISP and they fix it for you. If not, I'll try to think of something else. Let me know :)

My ISP claims that they don't block ports, they sent me to my router config and said to unblock x, xx etc ports. I did this and still nothing. I tried getting to playonline.com at a friends house (same ISP) and still couldn't get on.

So you can't even get onto the website?

It seems like an ISP issue, not sure exactly what is causing it though.

Are you using DSL?

after some digging I found this post, it may or may not fix your problem.

Quote:
On XP go to the Taskbar and right click the network connection icon and select Status.
Then once that is up, click on the properties button on the Status window.
In the scrollable list go down til you find Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click it and select properties.
On this page click the "Use the following DNS server addresses:" setting and set it to 4:2:2:1.
Hit Ok and then the close button to save the change.

Now I got this from an SE customer service rep(Amazing I know ^^) and it seems to work, I only tried this on my pc but it should work on xbox360(under network settings I think) as well.
Not sure if this will help everyone, but for the 0019 people it should, PLEASE NOTE: this is only a stop gap til Iowa Telecom(or your provider) fixes their DNS server. You should call them and find out when they get it fixed and then follow the above steps, except switch it back to find DNS automatically. I'll try and post when they do and any other steps needed to get running smoothly again.

If that doesn't work, give SE a call.
