Grew up in Colorado saying pop, moved to the southwest and started calling it soda.
Edit: as a sidenote, I was at the store today, and the guy behind me at the checkout counter was buying a 12-pack of orange soda... and he seemed SO SAD. It didn't add up.

I call them all by their proper names. I never say soda, pop, soft drink or any of that nonsense. It's always either Coke, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, etc.

Normally you'd ask "Do you have anything to drink?" first, in which they'd reply "We got milk, juice, water, and soda." To which you say "What kind of soda?", and then the names are used. I'm from CT and now in GA. All this "what kinda coke?" when I ask for a COKE is annoying /><\ *head explode*
