Random Acts Of Kindness: Share Yours

Rules:

1) No flames. Keep it civil.
2) Your random act of kindness story has to be towards a random person. Not an LS mate or a friend.
3) No QQing, /butthurt, or sob stories. (Example: I helped so-and-so with this and I deleveled /cry)

So today, my boyfriend and I were wandering Quicksand Caves trying to get my ??? stones for one of the Moogle quests, when we stumbled upon a party attempting to kill Sabotender Bailerina. We had just got done killing an NM ourselves that we found, and we were pretty low on HP/MP ourselves, so we stopped at the zone, near where this party was fighting, to heal up before continuing on their journey.

We're not normally one to poke around peoples' business in Vana'diel, but they looked like they were having a hard time. 1000 Needles was wiping their HP, and their WHM was double weakened at one point.

So I started to heal them, and my boyfriend (a WAR/NIN) and I got in AoE range to take some of the blow of 1000 Needles. They ended up surviving, and getting the drop they desired. They thanked us profusely and one even offered us gil, to which be both declined.

i gave a person riding the jenuo-kazahm airship 100k once, i knew he was a new player just by the fact that he was wearing low lvl gear and heading to kazahm lol
hes on my friendlist to this day, im just hoping he signs back on to say hi ^^

I'll share a couple

When I was farming an Add-on drop, in giddeus, a random person sent me a tell for me to come kill Ose for them cause they wanted my TH, I agree'd and ran to mea to get a chocobo. When I got to ose he was at 1% and I killed and it dropped! I thought that was pretty dandy :P Then they offered me 50k, I declined it but they said it would be an insult not to accept it, so I had too xD

Second I was up in the boyahda tree as thf when someone asks me if I can kill the sleepga 2 NM for them, I never fought it before so I thought I couldn't do it but I'm always up for a challenge so I accepted! When they arrived it was some no geared whm so I was like /sigh :[ But it turns out that NM was no match for my evasion and I killed it fine. They didn't offer anything but I did get a thank you, which was good enough :]

I used to enjoy taking newbs through Castle Oztroja for the Magicite mission just so I could shout "FLIKBLIX NOOOOOOO" I must've done it for some odd 20 people...looking back, I dont know why so many people asked for help for it lol. But they did.


and I've helped random folks shouting in whitegate kill Darkspart a few times.

If Im running on foot I always try and cast protect/shell/haste/cure on people who are soloing.

I am one of the few remaining WHMs that will raise random people (yes, even newbies) for free if I see them dead (at least on our server). This random act of kindness was given to me when I was just starting the game years ago and to this day I help raise and even cure random parties I pass by if they need it.

I cure people soloing and helped a guy get eldime and garliage G1 items 2 days ago

I also cure and raise people in campaign!

Once spent an entire afternoon tutoring a newbie who was shouting for 1k for some armor. I was going to give him the 1k, but ended up teaching him how to make his own gil and the basic mechanics of the game.

I offered to help a couple ppl wiping to serket some help one time. They didn't trust me though for w/e reason and decided they'd rather wipe.

well this is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me in game, and it was a total stranger :)

I actually have two.

I was in Davoi on my thf, camping the usual NMs when I got a tell from a drg, asking for an escort to the knight well for the pld quest. I walked them through davoi, not really having to kill anything (they brought powders and oils) and I got her to the well np. She thanked me lots and I told her congratulations as she warped off to get her new job.

The other happened just as I came back from S. Gustaberg after working on COR. I had just zoned back into Bastok Markets when I get a tell from a smn, asking me to burn my two hour. At this time, I knew what my two hour did, but I had no clue why a smn would want it (was ignorant to smn burn parties lol). So I tell him okay, get into a party with him and his friend and use Wild Card. I rolled a 5 and ended up resetting their two hours, for which they were highly greatful. The one who asked offered me 5k, which I almost declined until he said it was the least he could do.

I logged out in Castle O one night after helping someone camp Quu Domi, next day I log in and Quu Domi is up, and there is 1 person standing afk.

I claim him and start to kill; I dont have the boots yet because I never really needed them but I thought why not? So the dood comes back from afk and sends me tell ";_;" while I was killing, I felt bad so I invited him to the pt and told him he could have the boots if they dropped.

Sadly they didnt but it was the thought that counts? He later told me that he wasnt focusing 100% since no one was around for a while there, I just happened to swoop in lol.

Not related to FFXI, but had a bud who had gotten his wife prego.
He was to weak to be in the room, and for some reason he pulled me in the room to help with things.
Akward, I would really think so.
But felt good to help a friend, specially because he was so serious and him being serious is rare.
We're both big jokers. So afterwards was pretty fun lol. O/

I was on one of my alt characters running through Valkurm to camp VE when I saw 2 dead players,a quick search of the area showed no high enough level WHM to raise them. I logged out,logged into Shayala,changed to WHM,outpost tele'd out there and raised them both,then warped out straight away.lol

A few weeks ago, I helped my friend take a really crappy college application--she can't write well, at all--and turn it into something spectacular. She IMs me today and told me that she was accepted. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Not to derail but woah... people charge for raise on your server?? We just raise people we see dead on Levi, or at least there are very few who charge because I've never come across it personally lol.

Can't think of that many off the top of my head, helping random newbies with avatar fights, kazham keys, airship keys, newbie missions, given low level newbies free gears or free food, etc.

I've never helped anyone in my life, not one single selfless act. I've been an *** before I've even been an ***.

I was fiddling around in the wood guild in sandy once forever ago and heard a nublet asking for anyone to help at all in /say and /shout. I sent him a /tell asking what he needed help with, got no response. After a few mins I sent him another tell explaining how to reply to tells. My hunch was right, he didn't know how to talk to me. It was his first day. So once we got the communication commands worked out, I showed him how to use the auction house and how to go outside and kill mobs, and I bought him a weapon. (He had a dagger or something but wanted to be a mnk, so I got him a pair of cheap level 1 h2h's.) I told him to tell me whenever he needed help again and gave him a linkpearl. Later, when he was in his 30's, I bought him a pair of pants (that was more for me than him, though. Elf men in subligars give small children nightmares. Just ask Poppi.) And I took him to La Theine and Konschat to help him find and kill his ram for that one mnk belt thingy. Then he quit, so oh well. I am out of nublets to help now, there's no more new people on Odin.

I dont remember seeing anybody charge for raises on kujata either loool atleast not since before toau days, even then I dont remember it all that much.

I camped Simurgh for the ToD and when i finally got the ToD i let my cousin get it seeing that i thought his 75 Rng needed it more than my 54 Thf ; ; went 1/1 then got outcalimed 3 times after that then lost ToD...lol

I don't remember specific times I help people.

My LS did nearly 7 joytoy camps in 2 weeks just to help LS members and their friends get it. That was a loooong 2 weeks. Log on >> Camp the thing for 4 hours >> Probably lose it to other campers >> rinse and repeat. We had a brigade of folks helping us too, with spawn times and showing up whenever we needed help.

btw, a lot of those folks that ended up helping us with times and showing up to help camp were just random people that we met through other groups camping for joytoy. They'd win the claim and whoever they camped for would get the weapon and the next night they would show up and help us camp. So nice :)

The big one I remember actually happened to me as opposed to by me. I'd just started the game, had never played an MMO before, was mostly entirely clueless as to what I was doing and was poking around in King Ranperre's Tomb for my Sandy Mission "Bat Hunt" where I needed an item off of the bats there. As I slowly kill them using a Great Sword on my subligar-clad Warrior (lol) I see a /shout from a player named Nazareus offering to invite anyone who needed Orcish Mail Scales because they dropped to his pool. I somehow figured out how to send a tell or communicate, got my item and met Naz.

Shortly after I met him he gave me 20k to get me started (at the time it funded me for about a month's worth of leveling) got my first linkshell, ThunderFistZwei (still an awesome name) and met all the friends I'd later come to play the game with for the next year or so. I still stay in touch with Naz, too, even though he quit about 2 years ago. That really set me off on the right path for playing XI in general.

Was completed frustrated with a Nyzul Isle static I was trying to organize through my LS and after spending 2 and a half hours coordinating who would be on what job I decided to scrap the idea. Burned out for the night, I was ready to log and saw a shout for help with Sandy 6-1. They were already at 5 members and shouldn't have had a problem, but I volunteered mine (and my NPC buddy's) help to absorb the 1,000 needles. We formed a mini-alliance with 2 other NPC fellows and were able to kill the NM in about 30 seconds. When I warped out, the guy who shouted for help asked me if I wanted a reward. I said none was necessary and I just wanted to help out.

*shrug* It's something I'd like someone to do for me, so I do it first.

when i was new a whm named fally from bahamut had helped me with one of my first windy missions. she walked me to tahrongi canyon explained about tele crystals &|nd how to get teled there then helped me get the item i needed for the mission. it was to get the items from the area u do call of the wildcat quest in. thanks for the start in the game fally i diDnt. forget.
