Recently I've been playin around with Sagasinger - BGWiki, mainly in Limbus solo climbs as an offhand for RDM for fun.

I've stolen Songs, Warcry, Def Buffs, Evasion and many more random enemy buffs for myself all the while using mainly malignance for TP (building the new TA set)

This got me thinkin. Where else would this offhand be useful for more than just a dispel spell casted? Dynamis Divergence has the beastmen who frequently buff themselves. Omen / Segment floors have random buffs that may or may not be helpful on the ride up.

Would this sword even stand a chance in something like Ody Bosses? Sortie Bosses are pretty much only Debuff enemies (but there are any enemies fought along the way as buffers?)

IDK. Im curious to have real, legit modern day, convo on Sagasinger and if it has any uses in either fun runs or modern endgame.

Hmmm. Testing of other add effects since then has shown that some add effects have a macc check and the proc rate can scale with macc. See vampirism, and the referenced testing.

Which makes me wonder, does Sagasinger have such a check? If it does, this may limit it's effectiveness vs high meva mobs. Does the add effect have an element? If so I'd expect dark, but... who knows. If there's a macc check and it is dark ele, then the rate may be lower on dark resistant mobs. Although, if any job can get enough macc/lower the mob's meva enough to make a non-ilvl wep work still... it's RDM.

Not sure if I'm feeling curious enough to go try to test any of this atm, but... I'll put it on the list.

Damn good questions, RDM has Dark based Dispel / MEVA - and Bard has Light based dispel. Im not sure how THF JA work into this equation. Seems to be absorbable as long as it checks Dispel / Aura Steal / Magic Finale -- I bring up the elements as a an edit response to higher comments.

Macc would make sense and I have a decent bit with Malignance gear here. New Multi Attack gear for RDM/ other jobs could proc easy as well if thats the case but it being a dark based weapon leads to the assumption of being dark based absorb/dispel. --- Terror is 9/10 times is Dark Based except in the case of Spectral Floe.

Isn't Sagasinger's buff steal basically En-Absorb-Attri?

Easiest way to see if it has a Macc check would probably be to take it up against Locus Ghost Crabs. They do Scissorguard and Bubble Curtain that stay active on them, basically for long enough that they need dispel or prevention.

These are also Rune Fencer type mobs, and pretty high level, so it should be obvious if proc rate is lower me thinks. Though they are crabs, ultimately, which are pretty basic.

Maybe test it on against Apex Idle Drifters? You could take note of their elemental cores that determine elemental resistance, and see if it affects proc rate, to determine element that way, maybe?

Possible things to look at:

1) Any testing that may have been done on Claustrum's Additional Effect: Dispel? Seems like a potentially similar mechanic. BG pages for all levels of Claustrum (original lv.75 version all the way up to ilevel 119) say the additional effect "activates around 10% of the time", with no clarifications about whether NMs are immune or a different proc rate, any Macc checks, etc. However, I am unfamiliar with how well that has been tested.

2) BLU Osmosis is another absorb enemy buff effect. Works similar to THF Aura Steal, except that for abilities Osmosis can steal it cannot miss (despite being a darkness element spell). This can occasionally come in handy for a buff that highly resistant to dispel/finale - for example, gets some use in the Ramuh Ambuscade as a reliable way to steal its annoying Lightning Armor that is very difficult (if not impossible) to take off with other forms of Dispel.

3) Atomos's buff steal move (Deconstruction) is non-elemental and cannot miss unless the mob is immune to magic. Similar to Osmosis.

FWIW, although I totally agree that if this does involve an elemental related macc/resist check it's highly likely to be darkness based, BLU does provide a few other oddball non-darkness dispel/ability steal examples:
* Rending Deluge and Droning Whirlwind are water and wind AOE damage, respectively, but they also have an additional non-elemental dispel effect. The dispel seems like Osmosis and Atomos in that it cannot miss on moves it can dispel/steal.
* Voracious Trunk is a WIND based spell that steals a beneficial effect.
* Blank Gaze is light-based dispel, like Magic Finale (and BLU also has the more traditional darkness-based dispel in the form of Geist Wall).

While it's not the easiest target to test, one place I could see it being extremely handy is the new Omega fight when he gains shock spikes. I was able to Atomos steal the spikes once but then for the rest of the fight it was either missing/resisted or immune from the magic barrier which I had no idea when was up or down, I don't recall what the battle msg for it was, but after 30 more attempts I stopped trying.
