Best ways to make gil fast as a new player?
By Zettavulpine 2025-09-19 18:36:53
Hello FFXIAH!
I'm a new player whos finally getting far enough into the game where I'm needing more and more gil, and selling stacks of crystals, crayfish, and moat carps isnt cutting it anymore.
What are some good methods for making gil that you'd recommend? I'd like to learn some good repeatable money making methods if possible at where I am in the game so far. I'm a level 30 RDM & 15 THF if that helps any
Thank you everyone for your time! :D

Make sure to have the repeatable ROE objectives active at all times, so that you are constantly earning Sparks and Unity Accolades.
Every Sunday, the Sparks and Unity vendors reset how many Sparks/Accolades you can spend, and you can spend Sparks and Accolades on Acheron Shields and Prize Powder, which you can then sell to NPCs to produce gil every week. If you cap out your Sparks and Accolades at 99999 and convert them all into Shields/Powder and sell, it nets you right around 2 million gil a week.
Also make sure to pick up Signet from your Nation's gate guards. You'll earn Conquest Points which you can do the same thing with. Spend on certain gil, and sell to NPCs. Generally the rank 3 two handed weapons have a positive conq points/gil ratio, and are solid to sell across the board.
Other than that, try to level up more, as you'll get access to better gil making methods the stronger you get, but these are stable through lines available to all players at all levels, they just take play time to accrue. :)

I don't want to generalize, but gil is mostly irrelevant sub 99. I would recommend getting to Level 99 as fast as possible, as that is going to allow you to make larger amounts of gil much faster. There's really nothing you can farm at that level that will net you a good income, besides what Vyre mentioned with repeatable Records of Eminence quests and spending Accolades and Sparks.
There's a few quests that reward some scrolls or whatever that might be worth some gil (Drain, Aspir etc, check your server's prices on them). But they're not repeatable.

Get THF to 99 and begin farming content like Dynamis.
This ^ ... & Get Thf to 99 asap to Farm Dyna & Omen.
Get 2 other jobs to 99; Cor & Dnc as they share gear with Thf.
Unlock Oddy to open chest in with living keys. Start leveling alchemy + farming mats to make living keys.
Make TP bonus gun for Cor; after, make TP bonus dagger for Thf & Dnc.
Cor should be able to get into Ambu groups if folks are not being elitist about members. Make Naegling for Cor Asap. Make Tauret after Naegling.
Not needed right away but worth 20m each, get Aeonic Gun & Dagger.
Start farming malignance gear on very easy (it takes a while but gets a little better once you can do easy).
As painful as it may seem, to really start pushing into end game content, start & perfect Brd.
After Brd I would suggest Whm & finally Geo. This should round you out enough to participate in all end game content.

THF in Omen makes about a stack of 99 swart a week (worth around 9 mill)
I aeolian edge alongside my Fell Cleave war, but solo thf is fine with aoe/non aoe kills

Can you send the 20m Aeonics mercs to Bahamut?
We got sent your 50m Aeonic mercs after the borders closed and it feels like we’re getting scammed.

Join a chill activities linkshell and whenever they are asking anyone if they wanna do something do it!
Lots of content in the game now gives good gil. Play with others, have fun, watch your purse swell.

1. Get to 99.
2. Weekly sell ROE items for a 2m allowance.
3. Put on the red light and walk the streets for money, don't care if it's wrong or if it's right. This is just for PS.

I would say it's based on your gear progression also.

1. Get to 99.
2. Weekly sell ROE items for a 2m allowance. This is sound advice, however I would hold off on burning all your sparks, as you will need them to upgrade weapons and armor as you level up.
Whatever you're farming at lv30 you can farm exponentially faster the higher level you are.

One important distinction (that the wiki has) is whether a piece of content is pre-iLevel or not.
Many suggestions here are for pre-iLevel (e.g. regular Dynamis) and should be easy to do for a fresh 99 (sparks/ambu gear).
Some other content mentioned is post-iLevel (Omen, Odyssey) and will be much harder to farm until getting at least Ambu +2 and maybe a few Job Points.

This being said, one decent source of gil which offers a great way to test your skill against a wide variety of enemies is UNM. Worth a shot when you get 99, if only to get a sense of what types of enemies you can most easily/safely deal with.

Also these sunsand, you can get them right outside Selbina in Valkrum dunes when its sandstorming. Can get 1 sunsand each time you zone from selbina to Valkrum dune, or if you're lazy just wait next to the boat and can get 1 sunsand for each sandstorm.
its 70k a pop now wow, i thought it was still 10k and isn't that worth it.
This one at level 30 i don't think you even need sneak/invis
By Tarage 2025-09-20 15:06:31
Why do you need large amounts of gil at level 30?
What are you spending gil on? I think perhaps you don't need to be.
You can go from level 1 to 50 in a few hours. Why aren't you leveling?

Lots of good advice here, especially don't bother because you don't need much gil to level.
Another idea: check vendor scroll/dice prices, buy them from vendor, throw on AH, no effort profit.

I think I got 10 pots plus mog garden access for seeds and just grow Wild Onions/rice/fire crystals. These items are always in short supply as they are required by high level cooking. There are also Danceshroom which only available when vendor mog effect is on.
Grauberg lettuce which drop from the saplings in grauberg lv36.
You can also buy magic scrolls from NPC, as well as materials from the guild shop to sell on AH.

Check GP items, a lot GP items need at least one non vendor item. Farm or fish that item. Also, just because an item is available from a regional vendor doesn't mean its readily available. This game is homework.

There are probably some low level drops that no one bothers farming that will sell if you do. Most likely either materials needed for things in the Escutcheons quests. Specifically, you can look at materials in the Kit recipes that are not available from NPCs. For example: WW kit 90. Coeurl Whiskers do not come from NPCs, nor does ancient lumber (but you can't farm that directly), but you can from Petrified Logs.
Similarly woodworkers need to make aquariums, one of the ingredients is glass sheets and you need lots of Silica to make those and that's a farmed only item.
Its going to be hard to just do 1 item repeatedly but if you put some of this stuff on AH someone may by it, I gave you a couple examples but if no WW are working on a shield might not be helpful and clicking through all that stuff can be tedious, a more sure bet is maybe try shouting and and see if any crafters need anything. People skilling up or working on shields may needs a fair bit of hard to find items, and are likely to be grateful if they don't have to do it themselves. They'll probably tell you what they're willing to pay ahead of time.

The main thing is to get far enough in Rhapsodies of Vana'diel to summon your trusts into the Maat fight.
Sadly no Shantotto_II right now, love how she never runs out of MP while doing similar damage as other BLM trusts. Still, there's several good ones to get with login points right now.
Amchuchu, Sakura, Qultada, Mayakov, KingofHearts.
only ones I use of this login campaign. depending what you have there should be others also worth getting.

The fact that OP hasn't replied to anyone, and that this is there only post ever on the forum, is telling.

I'm kind of in the same boat at you being at a low level (forced to stay at a low level to play with friends). The boring answer is basically don't pay for things you don't have to pay for and use the auction house as much as possible to save/make money.
You basically want to sell things that are easy (but possibly tedious) to make/farm and sell for a lot. Sheep leather and wild onions sold for around 100k a stack which isn't a 'lot' but it's decent especially if you're level 30. Also make sure to use the gobbiekey thing and take advantage of the chest, since some of that stuff also sells for a lot.
On the other hand, you want to keep your outgoings as low as possible, so basically live on the BG Wiki to check if you can buy something from the vendor or from the AH, and compare and contrast what's cheaper. For example, for whatever bizarre reason, a bunch of spells vendored for 100k+ and sold on the AH for...10k, which saved me a couple of million in getting all my spells (most of which that I can't even use yet)
So yeah, just find a niche that makes money, live in it until it gets stale/boring and move to another one, make sure to keep up with whatever dailies you can do as well and you'll just slowly make money.
