F^^k Entry Gate
Getting past the entry gate is harder than the content.
I hear ya, but needing an add on to access content is lame.
Bro I offer other people lamps, they almost never take them, conversely, I'll ask for them, both cases end in robotic silence.
The amount of time I've gotten a lamp, tried to copy it my 2nd character, and then been locked out of the zone due to someone pulling is less than 0. I'll just spam (if I ever do another mythic).

Kaffy said: » ideally people would be like, hey wanna go in with me? but instead you get everyone spamming the trade and getting frustrated when someone beats them in. that little bit of extra work and interaction is usually decided to not be worth it even though it costs them more time in the long run. It's quite hilarious they make QOL updates that almost nobody* is asking for (dynamis for example), but the few things that would make everyone's life significantly easier never gets touched. Also #Asuraproblems Spamming entry gate is the primary reason I don't want to do another mythic. You'd think it would be as easy as every person trying to get in would simply flag up, get invited, and leader pops a bunch of lamps (by the way, THAT'S an archaic model to begin with, why does EVERYONE need a lamp?) and everyone can join in. But because it takes an extra 30 seconds of work, nearly nobody does it. Same reason why the HTBF lines are always clogged shortly after a release or during a campaign. Or ambuscade. Sadly, people would rather solo and take FOREVER than join someone and get significantly more progress in a shorter time. People really do enjoy wasting time. Kaffy said: » look for valkyrie Valkyrie makes the problem worse because now everyone and their hamster just afks at the gate with it on and doesn't realize that they actually managed to enter, holding everyone out. I find it ironic that the solution would be to make the entry 3 bodies.
And yet, everyone would *** about that, too Ein is exactly why 3 body requirements exist This is why I don't want server merges. I don't want to deal with this crap
*** server merges
and especially *** everyone who keeps suggesting "merge the smaller servers". If they merged all 10 people on shiva with all 8 people on lak there still wouldn't be enough to fill the zone. Relax.
hey we're at least 12 on Shiva

Something like a dynamic list that players can sign up for various events, and event-leaders can check for any interested persons, and instantly invite them without any delay. I feel like Yelling/Shouting is kind of a bad system to fill groups, especially since Term Filter can unintentionally block out messages you would otherwise want to see. Personally I think Einherjar is a perfect candidate for a system similar to Domain Invasion. Free for all that starts every hour, ish. Can keep old Einherjar for LORE and make a new area for ichor. If/When SE incentivizes or forces people to move, I hope they make smart choices for collaboration. What if the only the thing SE changed about Einherjar was that every person in the party gives +1% Ichor? (6-man party, +5% Ichor. 18-man alliance = +17% Ichor)? ...or is that too much? wow, hyperbole... Lakshmi has 400 characters logged in right now.
There must be at least 20 real humans playing Felgarr said: » Asura.Eiryl said: » If they merged all 10 people on shiva with all 8 people on lak there still wouldn't be enough to fill the zone. I don't know how they fix it. I doubt redoing the entry is feasible, and the way they handled Limbus makes an alternative also seem impractical. Something like a placeholder reservation that has to be open to the public might be an option. IE: one zone of each tier is reserved for the public with a 5 min entry time. NPC hands out the entry lamp, and mobs don't spawn until lamps have been distributed for 5 min. Once the run ends, the 5 min timer starts again. This sort of thing wouldn't require as substantial of systemic changes, though it does require at least new menus and some interactions with reservation system. Party finders are a standard in MMOs for well over one and a half decade. The invite system that FFXI has is so bad that the community abandoned it for good and replaced it with shouting of all things and I'm not getting into how bad shouting is.
Then there is the minute long delay for summoning trusts after party invite so you pass party leader to the other person but the other person has no clue, forgot or doesn't want party leader so you have to explain to him. Eventually he figures he doesn't have the right trusts for the content and passes lead back. Afaik you can't summon trusts in einherjar but generally speaking this makes spontaneously teaming up to low man content a true chore. Next there is job changing/inventory management (organizer is awesome but unfortunately not bullet prove) and slow travel times. Zoning easily adds another 30-60+ seconds each time. In most other MMOs you're half way thru the run in the time it takes in FFXI to be ready for queueing and that's on a good day. SE doesn't want you to multi play, it wants you to multi box or better put - multi pay. If only someone made some kind of over the top app that would make it easier to find people to play with.
Something that hooked up with XI and let you register interest in an event while doing something else. If enough people sign up, auto-make-a-party with the roles everyone needs to have. A lot like XIV's party finder in fact. It would also force people to play their roles, not just seek on DD for life. Meaning you register interest and say something like "I can play healer role, support role, tank or dd role for this content". You then get assigned one of your options depending on the rest of the party. You say you can play healer, guess what you will need to play healer at some point. It doesn't stop the rdm from not hasting anyone and just DD-ing with enwater, but you can always leave if that person is in your party. Or stopping anyone from saying "I want to do Sortie" while in a full ambu+2 set but there are limits to what a finder can do. I feel like this discussion is familiar and that we had it before in some other thread. There was a big consensus that it'd either be limited in use to a few people, defeating the point, or it'd get widespread further driving a wedge between the natty and the enhanced players (I've been watching a lot of youtube recently). A proper party finder can only be implemented by SE, if it could be done by the community it would have been solved long ago imho.
I'm confident a community solution would handle party assembly well, probably even better than what ever SE could come up with but it can't solve warping to instance entrance and job/loadout change in the process from every place in the world, at least not without risking a ban. Lili said: » driving a wedge between the natty and the enhanced players And the fake natties that only pretend they're natty while making YT videos. How anything doesn't queue is *** silly. 3 Body minimum, another painfully obvious one Bonus points for party members, more for more Maybe would make 2 wings soloable and 1 wing party only, something like legionA and legionB Add Icher to copper vouchers......... Lots of low hanging fruit solutions Queue is a very practical way to do it, but it's not a very easy thing to implement. The existing queue systems are designed for instances that you zone into, they may not directly translate. When working with older systems like this, solutions have to work with what can be easily changed.
